Hi Caan, I have been considering buying your online course but I keep watching your videos that tell us how many bookies restrict betting amounts that makes it very difficult. Quite a number of years ago I bought a greyhound racing system for £5 that actually worked but I had to sit in smoke filled betting shops everyday as it was before online betting. I tried it online last year and could only get on with super low bets at around £1.50 😂 what’s the point.
Mad to think the horse racing game can be predicted so accurately for so long. Even madder that people took his bets for so long - given that most of us have been massively stake restricted with more than 1 bookie just for having a couple of lucky horse binks in a row!
It was all done on the tote board (parimutuel). Somehow he (and Woods) managed to overcome the 18% track take-out and make a profit on top of that. His white paper is on the web. How much they *netted* is probably still an open question, but they made a lot for sure. He's my hero :)
@@pgeezy2396 Bill wrote a paper on the process he used. It's essentially based on an original paper from the 1980s about statistical trends in the horse betting markets and form guides. Also, for reference, it's still possible today, there's a guy in Sydney, Australia doing it. (the betting companies allow the bets via parimutuel betting, so they literally don't care if you win as they collect a percentage regardless).
Lovely story and very well put together. Thanks for sharing that. I'd never had known about this kind of thing. Glad there are tales like this where the bookies get hammered.
@@CaanBerryProTrader Maybe so, but I'm an 'oldie' (64 years old) and I think your inuen, inuwen, er - obviously s*xual reference was below the belt old boy! Oo 'eck, you've got me at it now! ;-)
Bill talks about a time in Hong Kong when his model seemed to have lost it's edge. Turns out the racing club had altered the camber on one of the turns at the track and he hadn't adjusted the model for it. Now, that's track bias for ya!
I have watched all of Bill's interviews on YT and read many of his lectures available. Bill talking about 'rolling up your sleeves' is what got me into coding up my own markets down here. I will find the reference to the track upgrade for you.
Hey mate. Funny you mention card counting , as I’m doing it part time. Your content and channel is very strong and powerful, how can I learn to become pro just like you? Do you have a course I can purchase? Or something that goes step by step ? Or are your TH-cam channel good enough ? The reason why I wanna be very good at this is because I’m living in a country, where sports betting is tax free. I look forward for your answer sir.
Here's another crazy story from someone who may have made even more: th-cam.com/video/5PMuWmz8V-Q/w-d-xo.html

Don't forget, this was 'way back when' in the days before the bookies cottoned on to the fact that other people too knew how to use computers! LOL
I think the Hong Kong gambling was on a public betting exchange… now wouldn’t that be nice, none of those nice people at Flutter interfering 😂

Hey Caan, great stuff. The 'gambling with an edge' podcast is fantastic, mostly about card counting right enough. Keep those puns coming.
Will have a look.

No problems, will do more. We just added another one about people who beat the lottery. Check it out on the channel page.
He was an insiration to me, I got a copy of his paper and coded up a model using the same method as him....I'm still in the game 8 years later
Bill Benter, one of my heroes. Nice vid Caan.
A legend in his own right.
Amazing story. Thanks for sharing.
No problem, thanks for the feedback!
Great stuff! More content like this please!
Thanks, will think on it :)
Based on the hammering I've taken on the exchanges in the past few years, I'd say the bugger's still 'out-there!' LOL
Haha, seems like its more of an interesting challenge for him than a case of collecting Lamborghini's or anything like that.
Great video mate 👍
Great video. This man is a legend!
Thanks, we just added another crazy story. This man is indeed a legend.
5-40: Tut-tut! Showing your military background a little there, young man! LOL
No need to tut it, we're all human! Just a little light humour :)

Interesting, where did you learn this? I'd like to know more about this guy and his approach.

Caan, you should read up on James Simons and Renaissance Technologies. There's a man who 'beat the markets'.
Will have a look!!
Need a powerful strategy to win bets ...from Africa 👍
Not much more powerful than 9 years of data and 170 variables in his model!!!
Very cool story:)
Cheers, we just added another. Madness!
How he ‘did’ it.
This will be me
You have to see it to be it right? Not sure the next one will do it the same way though.
Get rich or die trying 👏✊
You don't get any prizes for giving up ;)
TY.

No problem, we just added another about Billy Walters, you want to check that one out!!
