I found a good use for my giant backyard. I would essentially 3d print a giant castle with a complex maze-like interior and trap my kids inside whenever they fuck about. This music would be playing on loop as they desperately try to get out while continuously screaming for help.

Main riff at 0:35-1:20 and1:55-2:20 is from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, Part 2 (The Sacrifice), last movement (Sacrificial Dance), measure 186+ (close to the end)

I find it a shame that Stravinsky goes uncredited (Verdi also goes uncredited - you can _clearly_ hear the Dies irae from his Requiem in one of the later chapters, where Caim has to fight against Angelus).

I first played DrakenGard at a Mall or something that had a game console stand in a store. Could have been a Gamestop or Toys R us, I'm not sure. When I eventually played the game myself after buying it I was hooked partially due to the music. The music is highly chaotic and orchestral and fits the game so well. I use to play Dynasty Warriors with my friends so I also loved the massive War Concept at times. Lord of the Rings for PS2 was also chaotic like this. I wish we had more games like this in PS5 era with all the upgrades we've had over the time of gaming

If you listen to this while driving on a rocky road, and its thundering/raining, its an out of body, jarring experience.
    Would recommend 👌

I noticed the first chapter has some jovial tunes among the chaos. I wonder if those are to remind us at this point, Caim is actually fighting for something. In this case, his sister.

I LOVE this song. It just has a fun, "devil may care" attitude and bloodthirsty intensity that fits with the Castle Interior mission and the inner sociopathic delight and rage our anti-hero is feeling as he takes his sword, and proceeds to swing, and swing.... And TBH, as someone playing it for the first time, Drakengard is a genuine Guilty Pleasure. The execution is clunky and confusingly controlled, and it definitely needs either a fanmade romhack patch or an official remake to really elevate it to genuine goodness to make the return visits to see what other endings you'll get worth it, but it's still a fun time with a compelling, twisted seinen manga/anime-inspired plot written by a pre-NieR Gestalt/Replicant Yoko Taro.
But who cares about that when THEY'VE REACHED THE GODDESS SEAL, CAIM! HURRY!

At 2:40, .075 speed, the string section is playing the same notes as a modern song, but i just can't remember what it is. Not its classical inspiration, mind you.

While commenting on this one without talking about their predecesors may sound rude, there are not that many reflections to point out that should give this melody more information that we already need.
With that out of the way, when we start this section we are greeted by two different sounds: the bells, omen of the upcoming doom that's coming torwards us and will get more significant in the future, and a rhythmn, a beat made from... God knows, I bet it's a frotted string from a bass. Such unidentifiable sounds them start taking a shape: a march, reflecting on the ongoing battle being taken at the moment. Then, unless this section counts as a different level with a renewed timer, you come to realize something: this is a timed section (more like you have a time limit, but that ends up depending on the player) which was foretold by your soldiers (Furiae was being protected at the castle, and you have to save her before they find her), and so, the mood's set. Having to traverse a maze while the music grows more and more obnoxious and the enemies chip your life away helps making this section (if we're not counting the extra unlockables) really tense.
Sometimes, you don't need a timer to unsettle a player; with just the proper music, even the quietest of meadows will make you uneasy.
