The genius in the composition of this OST can't be understated. This whole album is Nobuyoshi Sano and Takayuki Aihara's magnum opus in my opinion.

It's a very jarring soundtrack in that people either love it, or absolutely hate it.

This track sounds like it's gliding through the air gracefully. This whole soundtrack is tonal perfection

Sample from 1:15 to 1:46 is Rimsky-Korsakov, Capriccio Espagnol, Movement 4 (Scena e canto Gitano), about a minute into the movement, violin pizzicato parts.

Thank you! I know jack about classical, but I knew this OST sampled heavily from it. I can satiate my curiosity now. 🤗

I keep coming back to this track, it's easily the most beautiful and majestic in this whole OST filled with distressful, strange sounds, this feels like a little pinch of hope amidst the madness.

I agree. I wish we had the rest of the music from.Chapter 2 also, there's great variations that play during cutscenes.

Kinda reminds me of Scott Walker when he started doing more offputting/horror-like music back in the late 60s

Never would have tied Drakengard 1's OST to Scott Walker, but now that you mention it, it does bear some resemblance to some of the string sections in Scott 3 or 4

Drakengard will be a lousy game, but in part this also contributes to the fact that it is a game that is not designed for you to enjoy it in any way, it is a story of pure agony and insanity

By this point Caim is alive, bonded with a dragon he hates, sure, but enjoying the sensation of flying, something he never really felt. He even has some hope since the seals are still around at this point. He's not quite happy, but he is thrilled.

Personally, I think this must be what actually plays in Sora's mind as he meets the Nobodies and Heartless in every new world he finds while having fun and making friends.

While it's true that in comparison with the other melodies this is rather soothing, which it is and by a landside, there's just an ominous feeling going on in the background.
Fittingly, this plays after allying with Angelus, and knowing that the forest's tribe is being slaughtered. The melody represents Caim's first time properly soaring the Sky, while the percussion and accords are representative of Inuart's worries at the moment, looming over our heads while we play on a (from a player's perspective) new gameplay style, reflecting yet again on our connection with the main character. Honestly, one of the more detailed comments I can do regarding the soundtrack of this game.

Personally, I think this must be what actually plays in Sora's mind as he meets the Nobodies and Heartless in every new world he finds while having fun and making friends.
In other words, the "hero" causes a bloodbath while enjoying the best life has to offer, in spite of the hardships. I shouldn't be so hard on him though. It's more Riku and DiZ's fault, who gaslight him.

You know the best part about "Extraordinary Arioch" and chapter 2's OST ? They're the most magical pieces of the OST. It's something you expect to listen in fantasy stories, even if it's presented in a twisted manner.
And personally, I think it'd fit "Kingdom Hearts". Half of the stuff done by and upon the kids there is pretty messed up when you think about it. And they're motivated by lack of contact with reality.
