There's this youtuber called marcomeatball who is a classically trained opera singer that reacts to game music from different series. It's really interesting because his main point in a lot of his videos is that a lot of game music, especially from the nier and final fantasy franchises, is musically rich and sort of a 21st century revival of classical music. He says that the way we experience game music is like how people in the classical era experienced opera music, and that both should be held in equally high regard. We connect this beautiful music to emotionally charged experiences, like someone attending an opera would connect the music to the story being told and the visuals. Above all, however, the music is so well constructed that it can communicate the themes of the work without any context from the games themselves, and when heard as part of the experience of playing a game can both elevate our emotions and allow us to learn about how to read and analyze classical music. As an artform in its infancy and with a wider cultural push that seeks to keep games being viewed as utilitarian products as opposed to a legitimate and serious form of art, I think that the broader culture has completely foregone appreciating and studying the music of these modern masters. It's really tragic that the majority of music lovers dismiss video game music. I sincerely believe that 100 years from now, when the cultural moment has come and gone, people will be discussing keichi okabe's music. In my opinion, he is the musical talent of the century.
I like marcomeatball. He is very open-minded and have listened and analyzed many video game music styles, from orchestra to metal to techno music. And above all, he has been sharing video game music to his friends and colleagues in the form of reactions, and this will help bring video game music into the sphere of academic study en masse. You say that video game music is still in its infancy, but to me, like metal, it has flourished in such a short period of time that it has reach the status of being regarded as art. It's just that people are too close-minded to appreciate it. But with marcomeatball continuing doing the Gods' work, video game music will be vindicated.

Im that person who thinks video game ost is kinda cringe (i can listen to OST a little bit but i usually like some vocals) tough im not gonna pretend like most are pretty mediocre or pop.... Mostly games from japan tend to have banger OST for some reason or another. I think
@@Arkaro_Nerock_8580 true i can just think of jp ost, the other day i saw a guy on the bus listening to five nights at Freddy's ost and i did cringe hard 💀💀💀💀
I mean I kinda get why most people would think so. Video Game OSTs tend to work best when accompanied with the associated gameplay/scenes or if you're somewhat knowledgeable on the context. Most casual listeners don't have that kind of imvestment nor context nor are they knowledgeable on music beyond mere consumption to appreciate it on a fundamental creative perspective - because after all, video game music is still music. It's like how the average person doesn't think much about Kim Jung Gi's art beyond "cool detailed cartoon drawings" but someone with enough experience in art would realize that his drawing process is the equivalent of writing a best-selling 900 page novel in one sitting with no rewrites nor typos, based on a fleeting thought he had 5 minutes ago during lunch time.

The way I beat this mission legit? Blindfold yourself and trust your ears. No; I'm not kidding. Your attacks should be PERFECTLY timed with the beat of the song. When you try to time your hits with the visual movement of the rings, you miss more often bc of the frame lags. After like 2 hours of sighted attempts, I tried it blindfolded and beat it on my second try.
But even blindfolded, there's a suckerpunch on the midway of the song. There's a one chime sound but on the visual, there are 2 consecutively. Which leads to a game over and have to repeat the whole song again. This ending cause me half of my lifespan beating this game.

Death leaves you cold. Life laid to waste, wretches gave haste, damned are they now. Zero lost her arm fighting her sisters in the opening mission of the game. She blocked a blast from One's dragon, Gabriel and it got blown off. What's going on with her arm in this picture, it's the damaged mechanical arm. She gets it after that cutscene. You can tell because she has the Flower on her eye and a younger Mikhail behind her. Why does she have a flower in her eye? Play the game and find out ;)
I was confused for a moment, I thought she was singing on Chaos Language but then I realized it has subtitles and chaos language doesn't then I focused and she was singing in japanese lmao. When I listen to her voice I already think that she is singing chaos
I believe they really tried to experiment with made up languages with Drakengard 3. They focused more on "musical" words and pronunciations rather than something phonetically correct, so I like to think Emi was already asked by Taro to be more "divine/ethereal"-like with some OSTs during development, which led to the Chaos Language later in the Nier titles.

I feel like i'm re-adding these drakengard songs to my favourites over and over as youtube keeps deleting them
I know. If you're going to remove it, then provide or direct to the track with proper credit and rights, or at the very least a placeholder and explanation till the dispute is resolved.
@Velacroix yea
The worst part is just getting a grey screen that the video is removed
At least leave the title out something, because half the time you don't know what has been removed

That's rad
Do a video about this since I don't think anyone has uploaded this before
But even blindfolded, there's a suckerpunch on the midway of the song. There's a one chime sound but on the visual, there are 2 consecutively. Which leads to a game over and have to repeat the whole song again.
This ending cause me half of my lifespan beating this game.
@@RamosArchieNot to mention the frame drops. I saw a friend play this on the original PS3 and one of their deaths in this segment was from frame drops iirc.
Dont forget the final two notes where u click 18 seconds after the chime lol
Another deletion wave, my bookmarked video of this song got deleted. I don't know why [company] wants to destroy this art, but it's working, and that scares me.

English lyrics:
Flower, blackest plight, sings of tarnished white
Within blindness, blooming, undue new life
Forlorn songs of angels, cry at the end of time
Branching time, endless sorrow, beyond fate, in this silence
Claws of white, newborn light, strong and right, rise now
I have known wayward winds, ever lost, I fade into daybreak
A wandering soul howls to the sky, forever through ages
Oh, may sleep come take you.
Death leaves you cold.
Life laid to waste, wretches gave haste, damned are they now.
Desecrated minds, figments of grief and lies
Flowered monsters, hear these faint cries
Flower, blackest plight, sings of tarnished white
Bitter are those prayers now drenched in blood
Flower, blackest plight, is the song of might
that will sound a day in which all shall disappear...

This music makes me regret that I was too young to be allowed to enjoy these games when they were released. I hope a remaster or a port release is made.
When I close my eyes, I can see that quiet town, Silent H- ... no wait, wrong game.
When I close my eyes, I can hear the beat of each ring ... tching tching .... tching. thithithi ... thing.
This song is both beautiful and haunting at the same time I love it.
I've never played the game. I've seen the fight but never done it myself. That being said, this song... it's beautiful, yes, but there is something so haunting about it that it's actually kind of anxiety inducing. I'm in this constant state of "Mm, yes. I always felt that the Itoners were some kind of " homonculi." Incomplete things aware that they were broken but not knowing how in what way.
You are kinda correct. They are offshoots of Zero after she tried to kill herself to take out the flower.
And zero was a dead prostitute
Between this, Shara Ishvalda, Shadowlord/Shadowlord’s castle, and Singularity Balance (and also Singularity from Origins), I’m beginning to sense a trend of musics I’ve come to like that I can’t put a finger on… A certain style of chorus and/or instrumentation I have trouble putting into words. They’re like physical, focusing musics… Maybe something with a Hindu bend in tandem with western touches, but I know there’s more to it that I have trouble articulating.
Also "The begginning of the end"... Man that's a gorgeus song.

I started playing Drakengard 3 just because of this Song. I learnt that this song is final boss.
The real boss was the bloody camera
I have almost played through this entire game and thanks to this song I will forever have almost played through this entire game...
i just realised that the picture implies that zero cut her arm off cause her sword is bloody and her is laying next to her
at first I thought it was blood but after watching this over and over it just hit me wtf thats her arm
Why did she cut her arm off
@@Yana-rl6rt idk but no i cant unsee it
Zero lost her arm fighting her sisters in the opening mission of the game.
Play the game and find out ;)
The boss fight where the camera screws you over multiple times.
I can still see the notes in my head whenever I listen to this
I was confused for a moment, I thought she was singing on Chaos Language but then I realized it has subtitles and chaos language doesn't then I focused and she was singing in japanese lmao.
It's more like Broken Japanese

Of course I am here to comment, after finally finishing the final route by spamming my controller for the final note, after years of procrastinating.
A bit sad that the old upload of this song's disappeared from my playlist (TH-cam doing "magnificent" copyright things as usual),
which has dragged me in to this series.
Thanks for the upload.

A pome of the nightmares and darkness of the black flower.

Darkness is like the night without the moon and stars and lights
There is no light to shine it's like world of darkness an unknown place called the dark nightmare world.
It's like an unknown dream of dancing in the darkness where nightmares and darkness and shadows lurking at night. Dancing alone in the darkness
Where shadow monsters wandering in the realm of darkness.
But when shadow monster see you... It takes your heart out and eats your heart and your body in a dream.
Sometimes when a dream human something horrifying or even when they had bad dreams the dream mine's will be corrupted and the dream human will turn itself into a shadow monster in the realm of darkness in the dark nightmare world.
I hope you are okay
