Hi Scott I play on the same sax 66Rx Influence tenor went for the DK finish same as my Alto, plus Soprano, P Mauriat really are amazing instruments, your the one who got me on this brand watching your Havana cover on your alto about 5 years ago, thanks for sharing your knowledge really motivated me to another level, have a great summer
Want to trade for my unlacquered??? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Yeah, I love these P. Mauriats. They have such a fat sound and are super easy to play. Thanks for being a continued supporter of my channel!
@@ScottPaddock Yo Scott! Wow. Bless your heart, brass tonsils and cotton sox ya! Fantastic news, and, you certainly have a wide ranging and a very fortunate audience awaiting indeed. Thanking you most kindly . Can't wait! Whoop Whoop!! Yeeha! Cheers! "Every man is the fashioner of his own fortune." Shine on. Again, thanking you.
It is interesting that you use a very soft reed for alto (2.25) and a relatively hard reed on tenor (3.5). That seems backwards from what a lot of people do. (On alto I use the Barkley pop and the 2.25 like you have and I love it. I also started your sax school especially for the funk and I love it so far. Thanks!)
I think it has a lot to do with the differences in the mouthpieces. The BB has a much higher baffle. Glad you are enjoying the Sax School! The Funk Course is a lot of fun!!
Thanks for the info Scott. Been wondering about your crazy orange mouthpiece. Haha. Very cool. I need a wireless mic for my alto so I'll check out the shure. I like that you said it doesn't pick up background noise. It's just what I've been looking for. Your videos are all great. Thanks
Thanks Barbara! Yeah, it makes it a lot easier when playing with a band when there are several other instruments bleeding into the mic or when recording at home on a noisy street.
I found using Bari sax reeds with a very wide mouthpiece in 3 hardness with an optimum ligature just screams. The horn is irrelevant as long as it is professional although I prefer yani /selmer, cannonball is good too, never tried the P Mauriat. Honestly the ligature mouthpiece and reed are the most important thing to pay attention too and spend money on than a fancy horn in my opinion.
Hey Scott I really like the harness you use for your tenor. I've been looking for the brand / model in this and in your pack for tour videos but you didn't mention. If you don't mind saying which model do you use?
Do you have issues with keeping the Mauriat in adjustment? Have you had to have any swedging done on it? I have a Mauriat and love the sound but had the pivot screws changed over to the Selmer and Yamaha type.
Hey! Not really; my tenor goes in the shop about once every 1.5 years. I don't really have much trouble with it at all. My alto goes in once every 4-5 months because I play it A LOT and am pretty hard on it, but I don't think my repairman has done much of that type of adjustment.
I like it, I just wished I practiced it more. I'll get it out every day for a week or two and then it will sit there feeling lonely for a month or longer. If I were to buy one today, I'd probably go for the upgraded one.

Thanx Scott...love your work...
I love my SYOS Scott Paddock mouthpiece. It is easy blowing. Still working on finding the right reed for it.
Hey Corey! Glad to hear that you are loving the mp. I use a Legere Signature cut on mine.

Hi Scott, thanks for the info. We'd really like it if you could do some more You Tube tenor sax lessons. Please! Thanking you. Cheers ☺
Hey Mark! I plan on doing a lot more on tenor.

No mention of neck strap, is it just the one that came with your horn?

Hey! I made the harness myself out of a couple different straps. So, it's not something you can buy in a music store.
@@ScottPaddock thanks! I wasn't expecting that but it's interesting to hear.

How are you feeling about the Roland AE-10G these days?

Also, the set up in the description is the alto one, not tenor ;-)
Fixed! Sorry, it was auto-filled out.
@@ScottPaddock awesome! Thanks for taking the time to respond. Love your videos!
Thanks, Scott. The Syos code doesn't seem to work. Also, can you please repeat the name of the mouthpiece? thanks
