i believe that easy book is good too, to consolidate your basic english to become more confident, but to learn vocabulary a more difficult book is the best for you
Reading Jane Austen improved my English skills a lot... it is very important to read something you like, but look for a high quality writer... It is always good to play with a better player..
The book that I am reading has a wide range vocabulary. I used to read this book about 40 years ago. Its Hungarian translation appeared and everybody read it. I thought that high time that I read it in English as it was so easy to read. After buying it I received about one week later a letter from Amazon they asked me how much I liked the book. I answered them that I didn't finish to read it as I remembered that it used to be an easy book but I could read it very slowly. The book seems to me better when I used to read its Hungarian translation. I enjoy it, the words can put into three groups.1. Words which I immediately know, which I am familiar 2. in the other group words which I have never used but I recognize their meaning from the context as I met them earlier and 3.in the third is the group the words - chiefly adjectives which describe people and situations. I realized that I have a gap of descriptive adjectives. The lead hero an old man in an old pensioner who isn't like the other old men and women, he has arthritis which hinders him in moving and it disturbs him very much. in his soul, he is the same man who ever used to be and a young nurse tells him a doctor on the west coast of the US. The book is about his journey he wants to see this doctor even he has to across the US without money. I read a half of the book but he didn't leave the home yet. Yes, I know he will leave, I remember but it is very interesting the other old people's and the owners' approach to his decision. The book's title: "The Journey of Simon McKeever" writer: Albert Maltz. Really I don't remember the end but I don't want to see it. As not the end interesting but the way how he achieves his aim. I am looking forward to meeting Simon McKever when I read a book it's like a friend and he gave me peace and calmness. He is a man who what he decided nobody could talk him out of it. He has a very sovereign personality and the writer describes his thoughts and I agree with him but I could not draw up so beautifully. That's why enjoy it. I marked some paragraph. One of them when two pensioners gave him some cents. He didn't want to accept. What happens is I can't come back? But they convinced him to accept it. MeKeavers says: "Oh, I tell you there is a lot of brotherhood in the world, I've always known it, it makes up for the bad" He fished in his pocket and took out a little notebook and a stubble of pencil. he found a clean page, moistened the pencil point with his lips.My debts! I'm writing them down...twenty-three cents to Percy Fuller; sixty-one cents to Marcus Peak."
Hi Kati and thanks so much for sharing your experience of reading! I like the way you have categorised your vocabulary. I think those three categories would be familiar to most people. I hope that other people find your comment useful!!!
Hello hey teacher! I just wanted to say that I love the goofy side of your personality. Thank you for this video! You’ve motivated me to read a book that I thought was too difficult.

Hi Christian, I look for the pdf document below and I did find it. It is a good idea to evaluate our level. Thanks for all. I appreciate to listen you. You are an interessant teacher.
Very informative video. It opens new horizons how to choose the proper book. Definitely, I'll try it in the near future. I study English only for me, not for my country. Only this keeps my motivation. Particularly, the Australian teachers provide a big help. All of them take it easy. Christian, you are number one for me.
Hi, Cristian! You are talented English teacher and more I watch more get addicted to this channel. Your way of teaching mesmerizes me, and I am becoming an avid subscriber your channel and I am holding out for new episodes! Cheers!

Oh my ... I cannot stop laughing .. about di alarmed door, the startled wall and also about the man who was seeking some coffee in those horrible yellowish "shining" corridors. The hanging question is: "Did that Christian Man ;-) find his long deserved coffee?" .. thank you for let me know about the lexile level :-) Greetings from a hot Northern Italy
+Nicola Siliprandi Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you liked the class and my childish sense of humour! Big hugs from a hot northern Spain! P.s. I found coffee. Bad coffee.

Hi, Christian. Could you answer me a question? Please, tell me what are the soundtracks of your videos. I really enjoy watching your videos. In fact, I'm learning a lot with them. I like too much of your videos' soundtrack indeed!!
let's consider words as family relatives and treat them well by showing everyone how we love them, giving the best description of it and pretending we are the head of the family and they are our dependents ( dependants in British English).
My lexal range is almost at the top but because the words used for said level are close to latin , so I don't think can be considered a way to identify my level of English ... Should I go back to the lower tiers ? Thanks
I read every day , I watch a lot of documentaries from BBC , All Jazeera, I really recomended reading John Grisham..Now i am reading Live of Pie , it is more difficult than criminals, but very beautiful , My huge problem is writing ,becouse i have never learned English at school,
Where to find those numbers on the book if I want to get a book from the library? How I can identify a book by that number? Also, what is startled wall and what was the point?
+Loving Hobby The Lexile Level is not usually printed on the book. You have to look it up using an online resource like Amazon. Startled = alarmed = worried. They are mean a similar thing. I have a childish sense of humour!
This door is alarmed. The wall is also quite startled! It's a pun, a play on word. it humorously means the door is kind of anxious. And the wall is quite messed up or something lol.
me either. here it's said: "this website has taken too long". that's must be an internet trouble between file' server and my country (Santos, São Paulo - Brazil)
Dear Christian, I love your humour. Thanks. Your last sentence you stated that your students should do for your country reminds me of my politic lessons of the communist party.
I don't care about my Lexile level and buy only complete and unabridged editions. My level of comprehension varies from 90 to 98%, it depends on the topic.
Hi Cristian, you said "thi"("thee", "zi") at 1:10 ,right? It means "that" or what? I just tried to learn about it (about "thi") a little bit so now just want to convince myself. Help meeee, please ;D

I like your sense of humor. "...Do it for your country!" Masterpiece!

Hi Cristian, you said "thi"("thee", "zi") at 1:10 ,right?
It means "that" or what?
I just tried to learn about it (about "thi") a little bit so now just want to convince myself.
Help meeee, please ;D
Артём Горбунов what he said means "the"
Júnior C. I now that he said "the", it's quite easy to understand, but I meant pronunciation. It sounded like "zi"(thi) instead of "ze"(the) and I learned there's a difference between these pronunciations. so I just want to convince myself that there's real difference between these pronunciations...
Артём Горбунов by "thi" u mean "this", right?
Артём Горбунов "this" sounds like "ðɪs" and "the" like "ðɪ"
Júnior C. I meant thi as pronunciation of the (I just can't write the real pronouncing letters with phone keyboard)
☀️
I like reading autobiographies lol I already have Martin Luther King's and Mahatma Gandhi's and Nelson Mandela's are coming.... I bought them from Amazon.com... another book that's real good is "How to make friends and influence people"... I got it...

What if reading is so hard? Will i get an experience? It will be like ~1 hour to read 3 page.
You serious? I take around 5 minutes to read a page, if I read it *very* carefully. Otherwise, it's like 1 page per minute.
I love you 😘 😘 😘 😘
Thank you Christian, but I can't open the PDF @@
I'm sorry! I don't know why. 😰
It's okay, I got a way to fix it. Thank you.
