  • WHOS READY TO BE ANXIOUS!!!! I am! After working in a restaurant in Chicago, watching a show about people working in a restaurant in Chicago feels a bit counterintuitive but years after the first episode dropped and years after I worked in a restaurant I think it's time to experience the hit show and Chefslpain every moment of it

    Out of everyone I've seen reacting to The Bear, you're definitely the best along with Justin Khanna. It's weird to watch a show about restaurant work when you work at a restaurant, but for whatever reason watching an actual cook/chef react to a restaurant show is weirdly relaxing lol

    If just this first episode made you wanna fistfight people, the rest of the 3 seasons will put you in a straight-jacket. Hang in there!

    Offices are families like a tree plantation is a forest. A kitchen is a family like a pirate crew is. Fight til the last gasp, lots of talk of mutiny, and everyone's got a story.

      Kewpie mayonnaise is not fancy mayo 😂 at least not here in Asia. But yes it’s fire

    • @striderdavid
      @striderdavid หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@magicomerv She probably knows its not actually "fancy" but we think of it like that because it's not common in the US 🙂 I would guess maybe 10% of Americans know Kewpie exists, it's not common in US grocery stores, especially outside of big cities or areas a larger Asian population. I wish it was more well known and available, I like it better than US mayonnaise and if more people tried it and started using it, the price would go down a bit 😋

    This has been the most insightful and enjoyable reaction i have seen of this episode. I liked that you paused the video to explain things. Definitely would like you to continue to react to the series and get your thoughts on the evolution of the restaurant and characters.
    Also i notice no one mentioned Matty Matheson. He plays Fak, the handy man and Carm's friend. He is an actual chef , restauranteur and cookbook author. He refused to play a chef on the show so he is Fak. The zany family friend who helps fix stuff and tries to get meals as often as possible. Check out his YT channel or his shows on Vice YT.
    Hope you continue the journey. Glad i found your channel going to check out your other content and subscribe ❤

    the bear is one of my absolute favorite shows at the moment and your perspective on this first episode was really fun and enlightening! i enjoy the show most as a larger allegory for how deeply an artist's passion for their work can affect their life outside of work, and how both a student's admiration for a teacher's commitment and a student's struggle with a teacher's high standards can cross from generation to generation, as the learning process goes on in artistic fields. it always seemed true to life as someone who's never worked in a kitchen, but it's really interesting to get your anecdote stories of how accurately the culinary world used to tell that story is depicted!
    the bear has a few fun cameos from famous actors, and also some famous figures in the culinary world, so spotting those will definitely be a good time if you do continue. which i'd love to see! your reaction to episode 7, 'Review', will be a real treat.

    So the guy who plays Neil Fak (the mechanic they have on call to fix things) is Matty Matheson, who in real life is an actual chef and restaurateur. He also serves as a producer and culinary consultant on the show. He didn't want to portray a chef but like you said gotta have a handyman.

    As someone who watches a stupid amount of tv/movies/media, this is now a top 5 show of all time for me, and I've watched all the best ranked ones before lol Pretty sure I've watched every TH-cam reaction there is as well. Great reaction, better then 85% on here, seriously. U know how many ppl thought the Dad died and left Carmy the shop and not his brother? TOO MANY, which u got right away. Also LOVE that u pause to talk, seriously I can't express how much I love it, cus I don't understand how ppl can keep the show running while they talk over it, like hello ur clearly going to miss shit! Especially a fast paced show like this. And that u looked up the info on foie gras, ANAZING. If I can kindly offer some suggestions if u continue, which I pray that u do cus seriously this was a fantastic reaction! But yeah, in ur own words u paused a lot, and that's not 2 say u talked to much, but sometimes there feels like natural pause points, so if u feel u can make a quick comment about something without pausing (eg omg that's so true, they got that right for sure etc) Try and wait for those breaks to pause and talk longer (as someone with adhd/asd I understand the need to feel like u gotta get it out asap or you'll forget!) Or a long summary at the end if u feel like taking notes to refer back to, though I like the pause style better. This also allows u to show longer clips and speaking of which, it'd be great to show more of the show, like I know there's some sort of limit on how many minutes u can show, fair use copyright shit etc, buy yeah the more of the show u can put in the better! And lastly sorry for this horribly long comment, it's the audhd, and the fact that again, I think this show is actually a fucking masterpiece everyone should watch and I just absolutely loved ur reaction and had to request u please please do more! And as quickly as u can cause I'm a fiend like that hahaha Good luck and I hope to see ur next vid soon, as I do daily searches for new Bear reactions 🙃😂🤣

    I baked bread at Tiffany's Bakery in Yorktown Mall in Lombard for a while (I'm pretty sure I put them out of business...its a whole story). I also waited tables at Bennigan's in Woodridge (I'm pretty sure I didn't contribute to it going out of business though). I did a turn doing pantry and dishes at Bennigan's, so I have a little experience in the kitchen as well.
    Anyway, although my experience was mostly in the far western suburbs, The Bear definitely felt familiar to me when I watched it.

    I never understood the dangers of using a dull knife until I had to bartend at a private party. I sliced my thumb open cutting limes right before the party started and I had to keep squeezing lime wedges all night long. The bandage I had was fabric (no blue finger condom available) so it was soaked with lime juice all night long. I definitely learned my lesson that day 😂
