Hi, we did not know about this possibility CONJUGAL PARTNER I stay in Quebec. We want to bring my partner. She stays in the Philippines and I go to PHD every year since 2019, except when the border was closed. We are looking for a tourist visa. But she sent me your video on conjugal partners. However, I wonder which one is more likely to succeed. Is it easier for documents, costs and acceptance by conjugal partner. Two years ago an emigration lawyer in Quebec told me that I had 25% success for a tourist visa 😞
Hi Alain and thank you for your question. Hard to answer as don’t know enough about your situation or what has transpired. Also we are comparing apples and oranges on this one as we are talking about a highly discretionary tourist visa and a PR pathway that again is not as straightforward as the other pathways. I suggest that you need to have some more planning in place relative to the situations as it presents itself now and then also think about how you can leverage the tourist visa so that it may help with future PR/sponsorship applications. Not sure if this helps, but hopefully gives some more info.
Hey. Loved the video. It's hard to find info on Conjugal Relationships. I had a quick question though - What's the main difference between applying under Family Class and SCLPC class? I read somewhere that one cannot apply for an OWP under Family class but, can under SCLPC. Is this true?
Glad u liked the video. To be clear all all the spousal sponsorships are under family class. The only stream that allows for an OWP is the In Canada Spousal. Hope this helps!!!
my boyfriend has a student visa for Canada and he lives there. We both are Myanmar citizens so can he be my conjugal partner sponsorship in this situation?
Wow what a video... amazing information. I want to ask you something really important, i will really thank you if u can answer. Im currently in a Common Law relationship since 2013, we have a daughter together since 2017, and we even traveled together to USA and we have a common law certificate, but saddly im still legally married to another person, and couldnt divorce because we lost contact. I got married to that other person and we were living together in USA back in 2009 and we got separated in 2012, i left USA and cameback to my country and then i started my current relationship. My current wife is going to apply to study in Canada for a period of time and we want to enter together (me with a work permit), but in my common law form i need to fill a question (number 11) wich is asking if i was previously married. I dont know what to do with that. PLEASE HELP.
Hi Esleidin, thank you for your comment. This can get quite complicated so we suggest getting in contact with an immigration professional. hey ! i have a question! if a couple applied for conjugal sponsorship and they got yes but after like 1 month they broke up! will they ask the applicant to leave the country ? or they will let them live normally and let them keep the PR card ?
Hmmm… too specific to respond as this all boils down to context and reasons and if someone wants to turn this into an issue. Again too much to unpack here to answer definitively
I am in a relationship with a women who is undergoing divorce..we both are outside canada ? How can we move ahead with our pr application? Her divorce is not done yet, will it be a problem? What shud we do?? Plz reply....
You may be able to do this as I have successfully helped people sponsor a spouse in the exact same spot. Reach out if you need some help as each situation is different and needs to be looked at carefully
Can I sponsor my partner if he is still legally married in my home country? If yes, do we need to show an agreement stating that he and his wife has been separated from long period of time or this is not required? Can our bills/lease/etc be enough proof that we are in common law relationship? I will be applying for a work permit outside of canada and would like to have my partner to accompany me to canada.
Short answer is Yes - you surely might be able to do this, but you need to tread carefully and make sure that you have a solid plan to go forward with. We have successfully completed these types of relationships but I can tell you that the documentation was key.
