Lisa - I bought your Audiobook, The Vital Spark. OMG. You are speaking my life. I have been looking, searching for the reasons why I have been feeling so numb lately. Your words of wisdom and insight are leading me to source out what was left behind and what needs to be re-born. I can tell you, this book is incredibly difficult to listen to. I want to shut it off, continue this numbing to my creative life, feel safe in the familiar. But, I am compelled to go down this rabbit hole, abandon all to reclaim me. Thank you.
Deep respect, high appreciation for the vital sparks each of you bring to your weekly podcasts and now to ever-more treasures found within the context of this (Lisa's) book. Thank You!
I have a distinct memory or memories of being five or six years old when my parents and siblings told me,” if you act like that, no one will like you.” It felt like a slap in the face. I will never forget. And around that time, my sister’s began excluding me and telling the Neighbor kids not to play with me. I feel this is a direct results of me beginning to shine. I began shutting down but still needed an outlet. I channeled it into becoming an accomplished athlete. And they still resent me for that, but do so covertly. It’s still very painful as an adult.
I have listened to this podcast twice. Truly the huge resonance and wisdom has been life changing already. No going back. Book's on the way! Thankyou all, love your collective voice and insights, presented so gently and softly. 🥰🦄
This is so helpful at this time - all the discussion around the innocence complex and envy informs my recent personal experiences and the research I've been doing on children's rights and trying to understand why some kinds of abusers target children.
I'm listening to the podcast and overflowing with how much I love these three people, their whole hearted generosity, their devotion to soul work and how they show up in my home in their fullness. And just as I'm getting jealous of their exquisite friendship I realize that I'm already included in its warmth. I also can't wait to know the topic of Lisa's next book as I've already read and utterly loved The Vital Spark.
I am Alison and Dorothy. Thank you for this breakdown of the innocence complex. It was a true synchronicity as I just started researching the significance of my favorite story the Wizard of Oz yesterday. I have done a lot of healing in the area of developing awareness of envy and becoming less innocent however I had not figured out what I need to cultivate to move forward. This gives me a great sense of direction in my goals for the future to become whole. Thank you!
Appreciate what Deb shared about what did I like as a child...there’s a wonderful book called Wishcraft and the author’s name escapes me but when I read that book it really did change my life’s course to beacon me a behavioral health counselor. It’s premise asks the question, what sparked passion inside of you when you were a child. Thank goodness for that book, coming along when it did. Looking forward to reading The Vital Spark and encouraging others to read it. Thank you Lisa, Joseph and Deb
Hi guys, I just want to say. I love you guys. I loved all of your episodes. But I particularly love (in debs voice) this episode. I didn’t expect coming in here to be able to see your faces. I’m so thankful for you.
I had a numinous encounter with Vladimir Putin in a dream, which has helped me integrate a healthy sense of aggression, so I related very much with the Tony Soprano dream! I’m still working on balancing the aggression and capacity for ruthlessness with my empathy and compassion.
❤ absolument ! Well, I will for sure buy the book and also give another to a good friend who needs some food for the soul, some fire to her spark! We have watched the Sopranos this winter , and I so agree TONY has feelings…😂😅😂 and that is what makes him so likable and human, what a great actor by the way! And we also watched the Devil wears Prada some months ago, it wasn’t the first time, but it is alive in me with what you guys are sharing, and with those qualities to be developed in order to not stay naïve…. My mother had a complex for sure a naivety one….and for some reasons she never managed to growing to see the world for what it was, she always thought it was a sweet one…. so every time she was disappointed, she turned it into a devil….. this went this way until the day of her death, as she by example blamed her second husband for everything…. For she needed to put her pain that came from her helplessness outside herself, she successfully projected outside herself, all she disliked….. It was unfortunate as I watched it as I loved her as I tried to help …..She never managed to wake up more fully or wholly to her spark….. and suffered a lot!
Cheers to Lisa on 'The Vital Spark'! I obtained the book on pre-order and once started, I couldn't put it down. It definitely has a space on my shelve for re-read and loaning (well, maaaaybe loaning---I don't like to part with my books!). Wonderful, thought-provoking, emotion-stirring, fire-inspiring! Lisa has an amazing writing style. And I'll also take this opportunity to offer my gratitude to Deb and Joseph along with Lisa on all I've been receiving from the podcast. A long-time lover and student of psychology and Jungian ideas, I found This Jungian Life a couple of months ago and have been truly enjoying playing catch-up on episodes and look forward to more. Thank you all so, SO much. I wish I'd been available to be watching while this episode was on live. I would have loved the opportunity to submit a dream! Maybe some time! Best to all! Please keep the amazing work coming.
Ah, the innocence complex. I feel like that's akin to vulnerable narcissism. Lisa, when you mentioned the envy of the innocence, I at first didn't reallyl see what you meant until you explained the envy of the gift that isn't recognized by the Self, but is recognized and therefore envied by others. That makes sense. On the other hand, when I've had certain feelings towards women who are like damsels in distress, I haven't felt envious, but annoyed. They ca'n't be THAT gullable. What world are they living in? Have they been so coddled that even at the age of 35 they still think that justice can be achieved? It tells me they haven't suffered enough that that brings out the sadist in me. They need to be initiated and join reality. This is what I feel like and my resentment towrards women who stand up as if they have any authority (like 25 year old life coaches who never had to pay for their college education because they've had it all)... that cracks me up in a very dark way.
@ChriseldaPhoenix Reading your comment I notice that the darkness and envy you feel towards women also involves age(youth). Lots of.material there! I see this and have felt target of this type of misogynistic envy and its really very harmful.
I love you guys, all of you! This was such a great podcast! together, you add so much to these topics! I am in my master's program for Social Work and working as well, Joseph, I appreciated the inspiration there that you also did this for the same reason I am. I hope I can jump immediately into Jungian studies and take your dream course along the say somehow!! thank you Lisa for this book, I ordered and can't wait to dive in! I love how you put fairy tales and movies in for clarity!! You guys are awesome!!
I just love listening to you. Almost always I can relate to something you are talking about and strangely the topics in your podcast seem to cover some of the problem I'm dealing with at the moment. Thank you for your great work.
thank you to you all at jungain life, each week your themes are so on point for me and resonate deeply. always so timely. thank you for all that you share
HI LISA! Thank you for creating another book! I loved your first book. I BOUGHT A KINDLE VERSION TODAY BUT WAS WONDERING WHERE I WILL FIND THE LINK FOR BONUS GUIDED MEDITATION… 🎉
Not sure desire comes from inside. You need inspiration, role models, guidance. That's outside. But it activates something in you, you are receptive, it resonates. Outside and inside are interlinked .
‘Operation Unicorn’ was also the British state codename for the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Scotland too. (I was had involvement in this protocol)

I'm a huge fan of all you guys and inspiring analysts. You guys should do an episode of all dream interpretations like a marathon for subscribers
That's a great idea. A 'master cut' with all the dream interpretations
That’s a great idea

Another great episode, thank you. Loved the concept of malignant innocence in particular.

Thank you, and so glad you addressed how disempowering some of the rhetoric around the patriarchy is.
You 3 are so great - in deep appreciation and admiration.
Joseph your audio always sounds clear and audible to me
I sometimes think if I know what I want, I know that I can't have it.
I hope Lisa will also write a book for the future social political system in the US.
