The Supreme Court, as you probably know, can only hear cases brought before it and they only hear a very few cases every year, so it would take a very long time for all 31 to be ruled unconstitutional and it woudn't happen in some without a huge fight.

The problem with it being called something different is A) nothing else has the same benifits from the federal government like marriage and B) it further perpetuates the idea that being gay is somehow less of a life than that of a heterosexual. Here shortly I will be posting a video on why we need marriage equality and why it needs to be marriage. If you want to read my thoughts on that I wrote an article on my blog about it.

Gay marriage should be argued on the basis of civil marriage were religion is not involved. People are free to have contracts as they wish, if they are not hurting anybody. Regarding the constitutional ban in31 states, I am hoping the Supreme Court will rule them unconstitutional.

Well I live in one of those 31 states. I not think it will happen in Texas for a least another 10 years. Even though were I live is very friendly. It has very deep conservative roots. I live in a small community that has 42 church. There is only one church that remotely would accept LGBT people. I guess what I'm saying is this, those down here have got a lot of work to do.
I hope you have already done a great job at changing people's minds about this bill. I pray for you as you continue.

Jacob, I knew at age 10 I never was going to get married. I've known a lot of gay men over the years and I don't know any that have remained sexually faithfull to each other thinking of the one's I've know in a relationships of more than five years. I've always considered being true to your partner as a vow of marriage. It just doesn't fit the defination. Maybe we could just use a different term for it. Marriage has always been a religious thing in my mind.

I can't fathom why anyone would just go all out and ban same sex marriage. What's the harm in being with the one you love?
