- This prototype S&S triple launch coaster was scheduled to open in 2016, but needed a new section of track and a re-designed train to operate properly. Now that both have been installed it offers a much smoother ride and the wheels no longer squeal when it goes through the tighter elements.

Playland's Castaway Cove is located on the Jersey Shore in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Been on that ride a million times it’s so fun!!! The beginning of the ride never fails to get you excited!
Got on it today and it was smooth as hell. The staff was intense, metal detectors, assigned bins for belongings, and in several hours I only saw it in operation three times. Not due to in-operations but simply because it seemed nobody going to Castaway Cove was going for thrill rides despite all the ones they've added they mostly sat vacant. I do worry about track maintenance due to the crazy location of the first expression which isn't a problem with other oblong tipped rides like Kingda Ka but could be here due to the salt air. It is very interesting that all the mechanics of the coaster are in easily repaired concealable areas. All in all it was a neat idea to add something like this to Ocean City and I hope it picks up for them. It is however just a neat idea, it has a hard time standing out amongst other local coasters in either Six Flags or Wildwood and kind of seems like a novelty more than anything else.
It's probably because it cost 14 tickets and Ocean City is generally cheaper than all NJ boardwalks for the most part. And as cool as it looks the duration is way too short to even dare ask more than 10, and they originally said it would be 6 (which I thought was wierd but 14 is big difference).
I agree 14 is more than excessive... but I only paid 4...

MUCH BETTER!! No annoyingly agonizing squeak and the trims really make the transitions less rough. Good fixes.
Everyone is saying it's rough but it has vest restraints so you won't be really hurt

This is my favorite ride it’s so much fun and way less scary then I thought it’s even funnier at night (btw note I have a very high tolerance for rides so if it looks too scary don’t go on it)

ECG was right, the first drop feels like the double shot, and doesn't drop your stomach. It's the second element that drops your stomach.

Its a lot slower than 9 months ago. Check the old pov. They added trims throughout the ride
My son and i rode this twice yesterday. We have been on around 60 different coasters this season, this was a very good ride for how compact it is. Was expensive, 14 tickets a piece per ride. Tickets are $1 a piece, they are a little cheaper when u buy in bulk. Cool thing was they sent us around twice each ride. So when we came into the station it just shot us through and up the first hill for a second run. I assume this was because it was late in the season and very few people were waiting. Some commented it was harsh and sounded junkie, i found neither of these to be true

There are a lot of triple launch through station rides opening at the moment. All the skyrocket II's, Gold rush and this.
What is your opinion about them? I'm not really a fan tbh.
Submaximum I've only done two. The first two skyrocket II's to be built. I like them but I can't comment on the rest... yet.
Coaster Warriors I find that funny considering how it has never been open to the public
Coaster Warriors okay sorry. I hadn't heard of any softs that were taking place. You could have also specified how and when you got to ride it
@Coaster Warriors - Stop lying. This coaster hasn't been inspected yet and the park can't have a soft opening until it's been certified by the state inspectors. EastCoasterGeneral is the only person other than S&S and park employees to have ridden it.
Wild Waves?
Interesting way coaster is accelerated by going not just once, but rocking back & forth & then going twice through the accelerators.
It is a fun experience. Of course, I haven't been on Galeforce, but Premiere's Sky Rocket II models do the same thing (which include coasters like Tempesto at Busch Gardens Williamsburg-only one I"ve been on, Superman at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Phobia Fear Coaster at Lake Compounce, there's 7 of them at least plus Full Throttle at Six Flags Magic Mountain).

I regret judging this ride before I went on it. I thought it was going to be boring and rough, but it was the complete opposite!

seems to look quite rough in the pov, look at when the train is doing its final roll down to the station it jolts like 4 times

Moreitsdavid the back seat is pretty rough the rest are smooth. During installation, some of pieces warped, not creating any danger, just adding a few bumps. These pieces are set to be replaced next year.
It looks to be the train design and wheel config what makes it rough, its to big for the tight transitions in track. No matter what, this ride would be rougher/bumpy than if they used a train configeration like the gertslaur infinity coasters, or a short B&M floorless train
those trims look like theyre straight out of RCT3
I was there last year. They were advertising that they were going to have three coasters all stacked atop one another. So far it looks like....one and a half are build. Any news on what's going on with the other two?
Twiztedgoalie One, a small spinning coaster, did open last year. Wild Waves, the coaster wrapping around Galeforce, hopefully will open along with Galeforce.

It looks a lot slower than before
The other POV we filmed was during the early testing phase before everything was dialed in. The g-forces were too strong to be suitable for guests at that speed.
CoasterForce now looking back, it does look like it would be quite unenjoyable and too intense.
Looks like they put trim brakes all over the ride, the whole thing seems poorly designed. You don't see the Premier launchers with trim brakes all over the place

James Spinelli is talking about the coaster that goes around this one. It's called Wild Waves and will be opening this summer after it passes the state inspections.

I love roller coasters, but watching this ride in POV, its design... I feel terrified, and I don't know why. And I will never ride this.
S&S rides seem so poorly made :/
Marcus I think their most well made coaster was powder keg. It doesn't feel like it running way to slow like the Chinese launch coasters, the track is much better made, it doesn't rattle between each track section, and powder kegs train actually rides the track rather well. It's a really good ride.
That's interesting, I've never ridden Powder Keg, but it looks like one of their better rides for sure.
Marcus their free spins ( the one I have riden) are realllyyyy smooth and nicely built but it's also partially rmc so it doesn't really count

Their El Loco in Australia straight up derailed one time so I agree. I don't know how much I trust their gigantic launch coasters in China.

I cannot believe they have the nerve to charge 14 tickets in Ocean City, NJ, which is generally cheaper than basically all the boardwalk parks. Granted, you can get $10 passes, or discounted tickets during the holidays, but c'mon. You'd think it's in Vegas and has a 3 minute ride duration. It's a 50 second ride! Are they nuts, even Hydrus at Casino Pier is 10. They also said this coaster was going to be 6 tickets, liars. What do they want us to do, fund the extra money they had to poor into making it work since it was clearly a dysfunctional prototype? And people say their neighboring Pier "Gillians" is expensive? What universe is everyone living in these days?

it's at a boardwalk park. and S&S has come up with a design (granted if they can ever get this "model 1" working) that can load multiple cars at once too for other parks who might get a clone or a very similar model in the future.
