Gale Force Review, Playland's Castaway Cove | Best Coaster on the Jersey Shore?

- Gale Force at Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, New Jersey is a super compact, S&S multi-launch coaster. The ride had many construction issues- the ride was delayed a year and has already had to be retracked. But is the ride now the best roller coaster on the Jersey Shore?

I LOVE this coaster, I’ve ridden it once before the retrack, once after retrack, and twice after they made it quad launch. So yeah I love this coaster

There is nothing like this ride lol, it’s so chaotic! I could ride it over and over. I live in Avalon over the summers so I love coming out to ocean city to do this a few times.
It's intense.
This ride easily packs a punch at Castaway Cove and it is ridiculous how this ride exists at a Jersey shore park like this and 30 minutes away from my location! 🤯 It is a one of a heck insanity experience and it blows me away each time I ride it especially when it’s in boost mode.

This is one of my favorite coasters, Althought I go to Six flags and go on Kingda ka and other good rides this is still one of my favorites. I can go on this whenever I want since I live 3 minutes away from the boardwalk

We need more of these. I live a bit over an hour from ocean city but I haven’t ridden this yet. I’ll probably end up riding this next year or something. Looks like some fantastic ejector air
It's a great ride now that the tracking issues were solved.
I rode this 3 times the other day, in the front and back row. The launch doesn't feel as rough as it used to, its actually pretty smooth

This really snaps you around on the kickflips.
Canobie Coaster Exactly. And I had ridden Hydrus not long before and expected another coaster in that vein. That first kickflip violently shook that comparison out of me.
I rode this for the first time today. Was very impressed! It was awesome!
Shame it's 10 bucks a go though lol. I would still make sure to ride every time going to Ocean City.
It's so compact, I don't understand why they wouldn't have this thing all over the place. Everyone on the ride loved the thing after getting off.
I definitely wish it was cheaper to marathon.

Ocean City is very strict with its boardwalk and masks flying off can create a biohazard,hence why they were not allowed,its was Ocean City who told them not to have them on,was not playlands decisions about the masks
Ok thanks! I have yet to see a mask fly off any ride, but if that's the town policy I get that isn't the park's fault then.

I live close to here, it’s a small park but I’d call it my home park, this thing is pure insanity but is starting to rattle, hope they keep it in good condition

I've been wanting to go here the last couple years. I should've gone in 2019 when I was nearby. I like that we have a larger Miler coaster there too. I see that you said it's the weakest of them, but I'm a big fan of their coasters. I wish I went to Scandia when I was in California in late 2018.
Wild Waves felt considerably tamer than the other large scale Milers, but it was still decent.
Rode this thing in 2017, and 2019. It's probably the roughest steel coaster I've ever been on, even today. My two 2019 rides were still super rough.
The only shaky part was the launch but it didn't hurt.
I plan to ride this tomorrow for the first time.

Rode this right when it was built and I didn’t really notice it was rough 🤷🏻♀️ It’s in my top 30 out of 200, so I really think highly of this coaster. Very unique and great ride overall! My brother has been on almost just as many coasters as me and original Galeforce is in his top 3 lol

Well, maybe that's because the ride didn't use to be a lot of fun. And the ride's construction was a comedy of errors. Before there was West Coast Racers, there was GaleForce. GaleForce was supposed to open in 2016. However, the opening was delayed a full year until 2017 due to countless issues, most notably a faulty track piece that needed to be replaced. Now I rode GaleForce in 2017 and this is something I have to ask...
A) how good the ride was.
B) how bad the ride was.
Thankfully the ride is a lot better now post retrack.
I'll definitely go there for one ride and the credit, and one ride on the miler for laughs and the credit, but that's it, as this place way too expensive.. Starting to see the pattern with NJ, although Great Adventure was so cheap! We had six flags nationwide season passes - we got into every six flags park for the entire 2 month trip for little more than 100 australian dollars!
Almost every boardwalk park is crazy expensive.

I have a hunch they had to rush construction. Kinda like what happened with Boardwalk Bullet. Martin and Vlemincks had to rush construction, so it was REALLY janky in its first season (2007).
The 1 thrilling coaster i have not ridden yet on the shore, but i am hoping to ride it when my family and i go to cape may, as we go to moreys as well, we could make castaway a nice little stop
This ride and Squadron 33 are well worth a stop!

@@bukemdukem1870 It's a Technical Park Aerobat flat ride where you can flip 50-60 times if you know what you're doing.
@@CanobieCoaster yeah, i just watched a pov of it and i said to myself that it was a smaller version of the normal size ones like the 1 at Canadas wonderland and blackpool
Squadron 33 is far easier to get flipping.

By looking at it I would have never noticed the back row to be a different car, but when I look at the off ride footage it doesn't look like the "train" articulates the difference between the back row and the front two rows. Could you please explain if I'm right or wrong about that? Great video, BTW: thanks for posting!
If you slow down the off-ride footage in one of the close-up shots when it's traversing the kickflip, you can see the two rows articulating differently from each other. Thank you!

What happened was the track was manufactured by an Italian company that produced very subpar track, which caused the stators and the rails to be misaligned, causing that rough ride. don't think that was S&S's fault, as the contractor for the track did not do their job as well as they did. Thankfully, Intermountain Lift helped produced a lot of smoother track for this ride, and this ride I've heard is so much better now :) Intermountain Lift really made a difference in track production, and it paid off~
I'm glad S&S worked with the park to finally get Gale Force running well because it's great now.

I loved Wild Waves a lot! I talk about it now and then, so it’s not “literally no one.” 😆
I thought it was solid, but the weakest of the larger Milers I've ridden.

I thought for sure the best coaster on the Jersey Shore might've been Great White or Fly the Grear Nor' Easter both at Morey's Piers. Do you have reviews on those coasters? If so, maybe I should watch those.
I don't have reviews on those coasters as I haven't been on them in a few years, but Gale Force was far better from what I remember.
I rode all three of those coasters on the same day last summer, and fwiw for me Gale Force was miles better.

LOL 8 rides on Galeforce equals the same as 2021 AND 2022 complete season pass at SFGA, with all you can do entry and parking and unlimited rides. Wow. One ride on this, that's it. I refuse to support extortionists with more rides. Is there any particular seat that is the very best? I am presuming front? Will try get the best for my one ride.

personally, i would report PCC for not allowing masks on a ride during a pandemic. as amazing as this ride looks, i think thats a dangerous and potentially unlawful policy

Canobie Coaster yeah but when you’re sitting in a seat next to / behind people without a mask the wind can blow aerosols in your face at 50mph
im not saying necessarily that masks should be required everywhere on rides, just allowed, at least.
