Our Revised Galeforce Thoughts! Now a Quadruple Launch Coaster at Playland's Castaway Cove

- Since our last visit to Playland's Castaway Cove in 2017, Galeforce has gone under some major changes! The ride was fully retracked, and received an updated cycle which ncludes 2 full passes around the course, turning this triple launch coaster into now a quadruple launch coaster!

I once took a kid on Top Thrill Dragster for their first roller coaster. Talk about ripping the band aid off lol

That’s insane, what did they think?
It actually worked pretty good in reality.
It was a band trip where me and one of the parents were taking the kids who wanted to ride all the roller coasters. So naturally we went straight for dragster. We were about to get on when the kid told us he had never ridden a roller coaster before. I instantly declared he was my riding buddy.
We get on the coaster and as it pulls out of the station the kid realizes what is about to happen. He starts panicking and I just tell him it's too late now and just to keep your head back. The launch happens and the kid is TERRIFIED. We get to the top of the hill and the rest of the band kids (train takeover :) ) are singing O Canada as LOUD as they can. The kid realizes he's not going to die and started screaming wheee! the whole way down the hill. He sounded just like the geico pig from those commercials.
After that he rode EVERY COASTER IN THE PARK.
It works well because by the time you realize this may not be a good idea it's already half way over lol

Yesterday I went to my home park Six Flag Great America, and my 8 year old sister came along. Her first roller coaster was Maxxforce which still has me shocked that she even decided to ride it. She was crying while leaving the station but after that launch she ended up having a blast.

My, "Starter Coaster," I rode was, "Goldrush," an old Arrow Dynamic ride. Yeah, I was nowhere near as brave as that girl. I am today, but, not as a child!

Its been closed for quite a while for upgrades and some replacement of the wood running track...and covid, of course.

I was so sad you didn’t like it the first around, but thanx for riding again! Going back on her tomorrow night. Hope you enjoyed Ocean City!!!

I went back on it not that long ago, it grew really rough since the retracking. Still is a cool layout though. Though i did ride in the back left so maybe the front is much smoother.
I am going to ocean city nj for vacay on Saturday and I went on gale force last year. So much fun!
My first roller coaster was Tremors at Silverwood Theme Park which did scare me pretty good. That kid is so brave for riding a launch coaster for her first one. Bravo.
As someone who has been on this coaster MULTIPLE times it was very fun!
We tried to ride those coasters. To windy to open it. My first coaster was either Shooting Star at Lakeside amusement park or Rocket at Ocean View amusement park. 50 years ago. Still riding over 300+ different coasters and counting.

The front row I beleove is much better for airtime on wild waves. But I agree galeforce is an epic ride and the park as a whole is so wierd in an awesome way
They put a new Double Shot in after the 2018 season.

Did the ride operator have to physically push the train car into position to launch? I must fail to launce a lot, it failed on us when we rode it 2 weeks ago.

I reviewed the ride back when I originally rode it and don't have any plans to redo it
its confirmed gale force is the perfect family coaster to be your first ride and is also more intense than el toro.

Wild Waves opened around the same time Galeforce did. Sarah grew up with rides like Python and Flitzer
My first Coaster was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland. I was around 5 or 6.

@@chase7624 I was really just saying it's great ... but I've only been there once, after dark, which is for good reason surely is the most popular time. In 2020, on a Monday, with social distancing, was maybe 35 min. wait at 9:40 and 15 min at 10:20.

We own a gopro and use it on the rides whenever we are allowed to. Most parks don't allow on ride filming, so its rare we use them, but they have come in plenty handy! We just used it a bunch at Jersey Devil earlier this summer.
Wild Waves is the ugliest roller coaster ever.
