This video made me check out the album. Dude! It’s so good! I’m an American fan, so I only knew her first album and then the single “It’s Raining Men.” How in the WORLD did this flop and get negative reviews?! It’s personal, eclectic, unique, and catchy. “Feels Like Sex” and “It’s Heaven and Hell” are like nothing I’ve heard anywhere else. And the B-Sides! Had to look them up separately. “Breaking Glass” might be her best song ever. And “Brave New World” might be my favorite song of hers. Fucking wow.
I discovered this album around 2007/2008, I found it at a Borders in the city of Rancho Mirage, and after listening to it, it became an all time favorite to play. Great songs, great production and some of Geri's fantastic vocal performances, with a lot of other songs that should have been considered for singles like Shake Your Bootie Cutie, Circle Round The Moon and Strength Of A Woman. When I was asked to speak at a Women's March back in 2018, I sang the chorus of Strength Of A Woman during my speech. I'm so glad that people are now looking back at this album and are seeing it in the light that I saw it, it deserved more than what it got.
‘Calling’ is such a underrated classic. I wish ‘Brave New World’ and ‘Getting Better’ were included on the album. Some of my favourite Geri Tracks!❤ Plus ‘Strenght Of A Woman’ deserved to be a single.
I watched your first episode on Schizophonic. That was a great production I had to check this one out. SIYWGF is my favorite Geri Halliwell album. Favorite solo spice album with Emma Bunton's Free Me being second. The opening clip of Geri being interviewed is from a documentary that was once on TH-cam but is not anymore. I agree, a better album than her debut and her B-sides were phenomenal! Wasted as B-sides...all the ones you mentioned could have been hit singles in their own right. Thanks for taking the time and making it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers. :)

I feel Geri. And I love her to bits. Spice Girls where/are such a big brand. The industrty was and still is only interested in that brand. Makes the most money. When Geri left, she was the one to make more money for virgin. Geri as she is... takes control. Now, she is not the best singer but knows a lot about markteing, image, songwriting. Interesting after so many number 1's Virgin decided to dump her after one single sorta flopped. I think she knows how that industry works and she did amazing. This album was a step up from her first album. She gave the fans two more Spice Girls cd's. Ginger has not dissapointed ;)

Yeah I feel like after recording and releasing IRM she should have reconsidered remastering a few of the tracks on the album to match. It’s kinda like one good radio single and the rest mostly filler.

She’s crazy for not releasing more poppier catchy singles in 2001. Like this was only her 2nd album, she still had a lot to prove, it wasn’t a time to experiment and do rock influenced songs
JUSTICE FOR SHAKE YOUR BOOTIE CUTIE!!!!! In my opinion, it's Bag It Up 2. So devastated it never got a release. I can PICTURE the video clip in my head. I think most of the fans liked Ginger/Cheeky Spice, and Bag It Up and Shake Your Bootie Cutie is the embodiment of this character.
I never knew Feels Like Sex was supposed to be the 1st single....that would have been chaotic, never liked that song. This era gave us Breaking Glass and I Was Made That Way, which are my absolute faves.
This is an uneven project. Other than her cover of It's Raining Men, none of the other upbeat tracks were standalone hit material. Nothing was as strong or memorable as Look At Me, Mi Chico Latino, or Bag It Up. Circles Round The Moon is a not so subtle attempt at recreating Lift Me Up. With that being said, some of her attempts at trying new sounds are quite interesting. Lovey Dovey Stuff undulates nicely. Don't Call Me Baby isn't new territory but is fun without being too loud or raucous. I Was Made That Way is a lovely and heartwarming, if a bit overlong, closer. Calling, however, is gorgeous. I can see why it's Geri's favorite track and why George Michael would like it. It's the most melodic song on the album and her best ballad.
CALLING was a terrible single choice and she was very badly advised at the time… just release POP BANGERS like bag it up… she could have pumped them out for years… the CALLING boring stuff has continued ever since with the naff HALF OF ME and that George Michael tribute song… I love her but it’s a pity she didn’t keep it TOTAL POP
Would be nice if you credited people you borrowed the videos from. Just saying. Some people spent hours ripping these videos from VHS tapes. :) Cheers.
I do state in the end credits that the videos are sourced from TH-cam. Appreciate your comment but it would take much longer to try and keep track of all the clips I'm using and these videos take me hours too.
Probably one of the most driven women in pop, ever! Her passion and dedication are unmatched. Also, this album was her best.
