Possibly cut a rubber hose and put around generator tubing for reducing vibration for strapping to wall holding tubing.

G’day Brandon that is a very tidy fix for tying down the generator. I like the way you’re welder feeds the wire out without pulling everything apart, I guess that is what you pay a premium price for, all the little things. How many immigrants could you fit on to you’re new block of land 😂 😂 😂 I’m going out right now to remove the dividing fence I could do with a little more land 😂 I enoyyed today’s episode keep it coming brother I enjoy the bit of humour as well.

Cut and glue a piece of thin plastic bottle (soda, dish soap, etc) inside your tube cradle to prevent dogging up the paint. A piece of old worn out welding glove leather would work too
Love your channel, built a fixture table using a jig as you showed, turned out great. Next project is the grinder rack. Only upsetting experience and not your fault. Was your praise for the 02 Armor nose filters, great review by you. Only 10.99 for 10. Thought I'm getting me some of them. UK price £48.00 for 10, rip off Britain again even on safety products. No wonder the health service is on it's knees. Sorry for the rant. Keep up the good work it's much appreciated.

Steve, Thanks man and I wonder why it costs so much? This is actually why I had to stop doing international giveaways. My first ever giveaway, the winner was maybe in Britain or Europe, I cant remember but either way, it was such a pain to get it through customs. I sat for months then the winner actually had to PAY to pick up his FREE prize. Needless to say, I felt terrible for him, not to mention it made me look bad.
LOL, I looked at your list of everything you use... I was looking for that work table and didn't find any reference. It looks like a steel plate sitting atop another bench. I'm 70, just beginning to play with welding. So far I excel at sticking rods and making very ugly welds. Somewhere I read "practice. practice, practice!". Some days I think I drive the struggle bus!! Been repairing rust on a 1 ton dump truck and had to weld cab supports kick panels inner and outer rockers on both sides and then the floors. Driverside went great but passenger side fought me nothing lined up had to make it the best I could with what I had hence why I said I think I drive the struggle bus lol.
Hahahaha Isn't that the truth! Working on rust and fitting body panels is a pure test of patience and I think I've driven the struggle bus more than I care to think about LOL

Brandon...this THD thing...as far as I know (which is, admittedly, a fair bit) any inverter type welder shouldn't care much about THD, will even be happy running on DC....OTOH, a "buzz box" will certainly care about frequency and distortion.

Great video and advise. Just a tip on mounting generator to van which i did was to use a rubber exhaust mount to stop any metal chaffing or wear to metal parts.

Fronius welders are notorious generator killers. Be aware. They regulate down to less than 150 Volts before they throw an undervoltage error code (if they are for 230V). And the Amps they draw from the socket rise sky high. Up to 50 Amps easy. If you plug them in a cheap genset without good overload protection the genny will burn out in minutes if you crank that Fronius up. I have a Transtig 1800 and 110 Amps is the absolute limit for cheapie Harbor freight generators.

Hey Brandon, I got a question for you.. I was looking at lift tig welders on Amazon and none of them mention you can weld aluminum with them… I’m so confused, I thought aluminum and stainless were the main reasons you would want a tig welder. I mainly just want it for aluminum and preferably a 110 machine. I watched the video you made about the blue demon tig/stick welder the other day but I couldn’t find it on Amazon.
So if your looking to tig aluminum your going to want an AC machine. WAY more expensive than a DC machine. There is an alternative. You can look into MIG welding aluminum. th-cam.com/video/FGhSo82MP9U/w-d-xo.html
it doesn’t block anything breathing through your mouth. I just bought the Lincoln XLR and I don’t like it. I can smell everything I’m working with which means I’m not protected from it. I breathe too easily when wearing the respirator which means the filters do not filter very well. it’s basically a particulate filter. I don’t think it blocks organic vapors.
If you can smell fumes that does not mean your not protected. I used to think that too but after some research I learned thats not the case. 3m has a real good article about that. I'll see if I can find it. If you want to block smell all you need to do is find a cartridge with charcoal. That's what removes the odor. As weird as it sounds, you can still be protected while still being able to smell an odor. That's what the 3m article was about. As far as mouth breathing with a nasal filter, you wouldn't be protected because breathing through your mouth bypasses the filter 👍

Generator will swing away from the wall when you're making right-hand turns if you don't secure the wheels. I ordered the 4=pak filters with four sizes. $4 free shipping, used Paypal. High pollen here in the pine forest so hoping this helps me.

Nice job!! The problem that I see with those nose filters is that they don't do anything for toxic fumes. Interesting idea though. I used to know a fellow woodturner who would stuff cotton balls up his nose in lieu of wearing a mask. Yeah, no.

What year is your fronius? I bought one in 2023 and my drive roller housing is a plastic not all metal like yours. Yours looks way sturdier.

12:28 I couldn’t have helped myself- I would have cut that welded ring right off and used 2” flat, centered, instead. A 1” hole remakes the anchorpoint without the clutter.
I used what I had for materials.
As always, an impressive trieste on how to do things!!! Very informative, and well presented. Those nose things are great but I can see that they are a one use item and that could get expensive. Thanks Jim! Yah these are a one and done setup. For me, i'm probably going to do both (wear a respirator AND the nose things). That way when I take off my mask I'm still getting some protection.
Nose plugs instead of a respirator? But you will still breath in fumes thru your mouth to you lungs which is what you’re trying to protect.
When you skip through a video you miss things that were covered.

You can hinge the other half pipe section. Add a bicycle tube sleeve. Close with a nut on half and a bespoke bolt through a hole in a tab to tother. This will lock out lateral movement on your locking latch in the box side keeping the mechanism secure. If you had welded it to the genny frame it would almost do the same thing? Only you welded the latch instead , so there would be no removing it then 👎? Great connection with the air cleaner product . Thank you very much sir.

Its not luck that i have all 10 fingers and toes. Just like anything in life you do over and over, you become a master. Through repetition, you learn your limits and boundaries. What looks dangerous to others was created from hours of building skill. People generally get hurt by one of two things, inexperience or becoming complacent. I'm neither.
You could floor mount some D-rings to secure more going over rough roads.

Why not just use a turn-buckle to hold your generator tight against the side of your truck bed?
You need some 3x2 timber notched to fit the generator frame and the van side frame. Hold the generator in place with ratchet straps. One to the van side and one to the floor. Cut off the excess strap and keep for this job only.
I'm not using my truck as a welder rig.

The annular cutter is from my kit from Evolution but you can also buy them seperately. It's 5/8" and it was as sharp after as it was brand new.
Don't know what this pipe is someone put between our property and the neighbors, but it should work! 🤣🤣👍👍 Nice anchor. If the wheel washer spacers were on the inside of the wheel, would that be enough to inset the axle inside the wheell?🤔
Lol Not many have caught that about the property pin. Great tip on the washers. I actually started with the washers on the back but it didn't work for some reason. I can't remember what the issue was. I didn't really like the axle sticking out because it can scrape into things.

Looks good. Did you consider removing the generator wheel and welding on 2 E-track connectors to the bottom of the Generator? Not practical if you plan to remove and move the generator around the worksite.
Thats actually a great idea but I might be removing it occasionally.
FYI - Moving, removing, or defacing survey markers is illegal in most states. You could be liable for the costs of having property re-surveyed and new markers installed in addition to legal penalties.
LOL I would never do that. Those that have watched for a while pick up on my dry humor. I occasionally joke about draining my motor oil in the storm drain also. I would never do that either. That's what the empty hole is for when you remove the property pins LOL

Excellent idea and another great video. I had an enclosed trailer (a bit smaller) with a generator mounted and a door that opened on the side for the exhaust to exit. I don't know if it was a breeze or what, but it would fill the trailer compartment with exhaust fumes and sometimes would choke out the intake filter. I don't know if that would be an issue for you. I thought afterword's, maybe a little fan or something would make sure that the exhaust is always vented outside. Just a thought.

I thought you were supposed to sharpen the tip of the wire so it feeds easier and would provide an easier arc start through mill scale?
You really shouldn't be welding over mill scale but we probably all do now and then. Smoothing the wire is really to prevent any of they nylon portions of the liner from geting damaged as it initially feeds. This is especially important with aluminum wire because the liners for aluminum are a soft nylon / graphene type of material as opposed to mostly metal for steel wire and flux core.
Once again you wowed me that was a great fabrication cool idea I will use on my trailer and that nose filter company should give you some royalties
Thanks Scott! I wouldn't turn down a year supply for sure! I'm not sure they could completely replace a mask but I can see myself doing both actually. That way i'm protected from the smoke that still lingers AFTER the weld when my mask if off. FYI I was going to spray the inside of the saddle with contact cement then attach a bicycle tube to it and trim it nice and flush after the glue dried to keep metal to metal contact from happening but then I thought I would just be showing off LOL
Just add a battery bank and fill that bank with the Genset. The Genset is fine and the added benefit is that you have backup power for other things.

Brandon, I'm sure you already know, but they do have ratchet straps for rail mounting. I've picked up some over the years, and change them to hooks. They suit my uses better that way.
I actually have a whole drawer full of them from when I ordered the track but they are yellow....I'm too OCD to use them. I wanted the black hidden look LOL I know, I'm weird LOL

Its a personal preference. I don't ride my motorcycle on the street with full race gear but I do wear a helmet and a leather jacket. Sometimes a little protection is better than none at all in my opinion.

Very useful invention those nosefilters and astonished how much we inhale without noticing it. This is the proof. I definitely going to pay much more attention in using filters instead of just working without as in the old days. If I should have known this earlier and igoring pressure from my boss that you don't need all this. I am smarter nowadays and this vid helps enormously to make us more consiously about these dangers. You know something Marcel, I feel the same way. When were younger, safety is not as important. I find myself now taking my time to think things through so I am being safe (or I try to be anyways). I plan to use these in conjunction with a respirator. So when I take it off "for a minute" like we all do to answer the phone or take a drink, I'm not breathing in the carcinogens that are still lingering in the room.
@@BrandonLund Exactly my thoughts. How many times we take up the phone and so on, stop welding, whereas there is still a lot of stuff floating around us and take the respirator off. With these nosefilters and your mouth shut, you are still protected well and find yourself a clean spot so as to drink etc. In the '80's we had to weld on primered car-parts with inhaling dark-blue smoke coming off. I'll pay a price for this later on😁. Now I only start welding with safety first even if it takes one hour....Because of your Vid, I gave myself a present today: a M3-mouthfilter $70. I actually noticed that burr on the end of the wire and cleaned it up before I threaded my welder up… I’m glad I did now…😂
If you make this a habit it will extend the life of your liner....especially when you start running aluminum and the soft graphene / nylon liners. Those are easy to mess up from a burr

I take those nose plugs and throw them out. There is a reason dust masks and respirators cover the mouth. Like when you talk, you will breathe through your mouth and when you start working harder you will breathe through your mouth.
I agree, but I think they have their place and they are definately capturing impurities. In a perfect world I would wear my mask 100% of the time when filming and while welding then as soon as i'm done welding (so I can narrate) the smoke would have fully cleared from the shop, but the reality is thats not how it works (in most non commercial enviroments) and this is just another tool in the toolbox to help protect me. Having something is far better than having nothing. Better yet, wear both a respirator and the nose filters...Like wearing a welding hood with safety glasses on.
Aren't the tracks for straps? Just saying a ratchet strap while not sexy, would work like a charm.
