    The bit about using the term 'queer' really got me. I am black and I recall another black person 'affectionately' calling me the n word for the first time ever as a teenager. It felt like a punch to the face. One person's reclaiming is another person's trauma.

    • @tomschutzer-weissmann5245
      @tomschutzer-weissmann5245 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There's also a political / philosophical side to it because "queer" was reclaimed in the name of queer theory, which many gay people don't want to be associated with because they consider it bullshit. It's a bit like assuming that a black person must vote Labour, etc.

    • @Gandalf606
      @Gandalf606 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree. The opposite term to 'straight' was ofcourse 'bent'. But that got changed to 'gay', which is odd becuase the opposite of gay is 'sad'. The terms 'bent' and 'queer' refered to what were once considered 'abnormal orientations'. The terms are BOTH still offensive to many. So it is very odd that 'queer' is being brought back. If so, then the term 'bent' is also applicable. No, it's time the majority stand up to the aggressive minority activists who are trying to change societies language. No - they DON'T get to do that. Lagnuage grows organically over time. And not on the whim of fanatical narrow minded activists. If they insist on using the term 'queer' - then we ALL have a right to use the term 'bent'. Or ban BOTH.

    It's not just a woman's feelings of insecurity within, say, a prison where she is a convicted prisoner, it is also about actually being raped and possibly even impregnated by a man who has not had his genitals amputated and is pretending to be a woman - *and this being accepted as fact by the medical establishment, the law and everyone in authority*. Maria McLachlan was denied proper compensation by the judge for being beaten up by a 'Trans' 'woman' - who has since become a kick-boxer in Thailand *as a man* - because she forgot to refer to her attacker as 'she'.

    I'd like to say I'm surprised at Stonewall, but I'm just not. As a gay man I've been more and more disillusioned with the way they operate now. If you're not the 'right kind of' gay then they'll happily destroy you without a moment's pause. I and my small circle of gay friends now avoid anything they're involved with or trying to promote like the plague. I can't speak for Lesbians, Bi or Trans people (nor would I presume to even though we're all labelled under the same banner) but for me and my gay (male) friends, the sad truth is we don't feel Stonewall really represents us any more. Just like a political party such as Labour can lose touch with its founding principles and the core supporters it used to represent, so has Stonewall lost touch with the (most) gay men. It went from an organisation that used to advocate for equality for same-sex relationships to one that, quite honestly, no longer seems to be interested in that core mission statement any more.

    As much as there are people who hate us regardless. James Dreyfus has actually himself, done a lot for us transsexuals more than Graham Linehan has. James is one of the few, and I mean few, in this whole debate who has seperate the genuinely dysphoric who felt like going down this road was the only valid option after other options failed. Most people were more than happy to throw us to the wolves because they believe many older and slightly newer support "non-binary" and the monotisation of stuff that was a medical/psycholological issue. And I also feel for the people who were born intersex who have a condition that sometimes leads to cancer for a good number of them, cancer is quite common and it has been adopted as an identity and most of them get a lot of hate for it from both sides for how they are born whether they are for it or against it, some of whom are outwardly female and find out tragically that they cannot have kids, I don't consider it something to put on a flag. A lot of TS's are more than happy to side with women, but obviously unless more are able to speak out or whatever most will keep being lumped in. Graham Linehan meanwhile has gone as far as not even distinguishing us and has used AGPs, the easy choices and also his past behaviour with Count Dankula someone who I respect very much, I don't think he was sincere in his apology, he just did it to get an audience out of Count Dankula. James and Cherie Currie are the only big two who actually have opened doors for us to speak out as well.
    James is not transphobic, never has been, never will.

    Thank you James for a brave and frank interview. People like you will be remembered for the way you stood up to these trans activist hooligans. I'm kicking myself for having just become aware of all the issues around trans. What have I been doing over the past fifteen years? As it happens, I've been busy bringing up three children who are now aged 10, 12 and 15, which makes it all the more poignant that these trans medications and surgical operations have been performed on children of this age! That is VERY scary, especially when you look at what's happening in the US - without the knowledge of the parents! WTF does the government think it's doing? Parents are the ONLY true advocates of their children. I know, because my eldest child has severe learning difficulties and the ONLY people who fought for her were us, her parents. If the Local Authority had it's way then she would be languishing in a Special School. It's good to know the Tavistock closed and even better that hundreds of lawsuits are in the pipeline regarding this medical tragedy. I'm angry with myself that I let this issue slip by unnoticed - but I listen to Radio 4's "Today" every morning and nothing has been discussed about this issue! It's completely crazy. I feel the media is manipulating us. Thank goodness for TH-cam channels like this one - and the many brave people who've addressed the issue, often at the expense of their reputations and careers. A massive THANK YOU!!

    I used to really love Big Finish and their Doctor Who audios. Then they bent the knee to wokism.
    Bizarre considering most of their target audience are middle aged and older people with nostalgia for 70s and 80s TV shows and zero interest in radical trans politics.

    I was a Doctor who fan from a child (my childhood Doctor is Sylvester McCoy) but when they recently changed the Doctor into a woman, i stopped watching. I still listen to Big Finish (I've listened to the entire main range, Davros, Dalek Empire, Torchwood, Cyberman and I own the Master and the War Doctor audios, but haven't listened to them yet, also have some of the specials in my backlog) I find this disgusting how Big Finish treated Mr Dreyfus. I'm not part of the LGBT crowd, but my sister is gay and she 100% agrees with him, I do too.
    I'm so disappointed with Big Finish, it was the only way i can still enjoy Doctor Who, the BBC TV show alienated me years ago, not because I'm a homophobe, i loved captain Jack and Torchwood (John Barrowman is amazing) it was just turning the Doctor into a woman and now changing his race.. I'm not interested in this woke crap.

      It’s not for the benefit of the show , it’s just to tick woke boxes and that’s why I’ll not watch doctor who again , the whole show has been destroyed now , I hope they realise in years to come that it was a terrible mistake , I don’t have an issue with the doctor being black , but a woman makes no sense , he is a father and he was married to a woman , the bbc have now thrown that away and ruined my favourite show

    Mr Dreyfus was brilliant as constable Goody, in the Thin Blue Line. It seems like a ridiculous character but surely acting is being what you are not and nobody is like that in real life. I admire his principles, bravery and the eloquence with which he defends free speech and women's rights.

    Reminds me a lot of McCarthyism In the US ,,, All sorts of people in entertainment got cancelled because they spoke for social democracy, It was a terrible chapter in US history but we are at it again on both sides of the Atlantic,, Thank goodness the madness has not really got a hold in Europe ,,

    I fully agree with him.
    I read Rowling's essay, and it was not dangerous or hateful.
    It wasn't until now that it really clicked for me that transitioning a child could be a form of conversion therapy. Rather than change their sexuality, change their gender! They'd rather their son be a girl than gay.

    Loved this interview. James you are absolutely spot on with what you are saying. We just want a middle ground and they do not want to that. We are forced to comply or take the consequences. More powerful organisations need to push back on this ideology and say "no, it's not happening". Safety in numbers. The more people push back the more this will become, I do believe, the biggest scandal in the 21st Century. People need to view videos from de-transitioners more and listen to them. There was one I was watching called FamilyFirstNZ - Affirmation Generation Feb18. This should be given to schools not the material currently given to children that it's all unicorns and fairies and all miseries will disappear. NO they won't as that's life.
    Kellie-Jay Keen is running a Party called Party of Women. I really hope people get behind her and show that we are sick of this bullsh!t. It's misogynistic and homophobic (women and LBG groups have fought long and hard for equality) and it's like we are in a place now where it is more regressive than ever before.
    It is time to stand up now against the Trans movement and say NO. It is now or never!
    Let sense be common again!

    An incredibly informative and articulate interview. I learnt a lot about the "cancel culture" and it is deeply disturbing. I have hope that as the light is let in on the reality of what is going on, the bully boy tactics and the distortion of the truth, we can have some return of a more kind and tolerant society. A world without Graham Linehan, Terry Gilliam, JK Rowling and James Dreyfus is an infinitely less bright, creative and glorious one.

James Dreyfuss is an accomplished actor and an excellent voice for true equality and we need to hear more from him ...
