Fixing Transit Custom Leaking Footwells
มุมมอง 7064 หลายเดือนก่อน
A very quick fix to the common issue Transit Custom / Tourneo tend to develop after a while, the passenger footwell filling with water. Thanks to some genius engineering at the factory, a bung can work its way lose which then funnels water from being splashed up under the vehicle to be directed into footwell filling it up.
Fixing broken mirror glass on a Transit Custom
มุมมอง 1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
We've all been there, something or someone has smacked your wing mirrors and broken the glass! Luckily on a Transit Custom whether its a heated mirror or not, the fix is very quick and easy and relatively cheap £25 a side for heated or £15 for non heated.

Hi mate I'm asking for a bit of help here. I own a 2013 Twingo Mk2 and today I was having a tyre replaced because I got a puncture. The bloke who was doing it for me told me that one of my threaded bolts was not correct for my car and had been forced in. I'm yet to check the others if any incorrect bolts have been used. He told me a garage can fix the thread or I can get a new wheel hub. I'm skint as they say so I would like to do this work myself but as a 21 year old with no mechanical experience at all I don't trust myself too much. I need to get the wheel off, the brakes off and then replace that hub but how do I get the correct part for my car? How do I know if I've done it correctly? Did you do all this work to your car without mechanical qualifications or training? Cheers. I know I should be hounding the previous garage I used for my money back but I had the tyres done almost a year ago and I would rather the satisfaction of doing it myself.
Put your car reg into autodoc or euro car parts and it should give you the right parts. A basic socket set is likely all you need for the above and ideally a torque wrench to retighten. I've had no formal training and all self taught from common sense, Haynes manuals or TH-cam.
The camera viwe was upside down when pointing at the car, just letting you know as I'm not sure if it was intended...
Hi mate your camera was up side own for this clip
It wasn't! For whatever reason TH-cam keeps inverting the second clip even if I manually rotate it first. Truly bizarre bug
@ thanks man like your content tho 👍
That's what inverted means
After trial and error with the headlights and not getting it correct, found this video and jesus I was stupid, I didnt think that the 2 plastic nuts actually adjusts the light horizontally and vertically on my Superb. Thank you alot!
How’s it 1 year on? Any suggestions/recommendations to people having this done aswell? - thank you
No issues, complaints or anything I'd have done different!
Can you send me a link to the kit that you have
I didn't realise how close oulton was to mancs, I've working on my TT at the moment and might be a fun visit!
We’ve just picked up a silverstone edition RS for some cheap trackday fun! Great vids, plenty to watch too!
Congratulations on finishing the first proper track day! I hope you remember to bring all the gears to the next one. Seriously love the turbo noises. Want.
Cheers!
Well done bud!
nice. must be so satisfying and frustrating at the same time, to runs laps, and not be able to try 100%. episode #69 i hope is even better
Maybe your shifting problem is a synchro thing. I had an older fiero that only liked to double clutch to shift if diving hard. Great to see you got it out after all that work! Keep it up!
Congratulations on finishing! Way to go man!
Good to see you finally hit the track, a shame about the gearbox. Hopefully its not going to be a complete pain to mend it.
Race, what race? Hooray!
Okay seriously I have worked 100s of trackdays and most custom modified cars fail because they overheat. I'd make sure that little beast can handle driving on full power without overheating for large amounts of time. I do not remember but do you have a coolant and oil thermometer installed? Also I'd check the coolant system with a vacuum tester or however they do it to make sure you don't have any micro or high pressure leaks which will make your coolant boil instead of staying in its liquid phase at over 100°C. If there is space for another coolant fand you could still install a secondary one with a manual switch if necessary.
I love seeing so many little fixes in one video. So glad you're doing this, John. It's like world's collide with two of my big interests, mechanics n space!
More to come!
How many strips did you need and what sizes?
Looking forward to seeing how much improvement there is compared to the last time it was on the track.
Man, the ignition beep @23:37 sounded EXACTLY like the sound my UPS makes when the power goes out and it got me scared, even though my lights didn't flicker, lol.
👍 I don't know why, but bleeding the breaks is the only thing I don't enjoy when it comes to maintaining vehicles.
What tires are you going to be running? Can twingo's stock ecu be mapped by a tuner or do you have to end up going standalone?
Giti GTR2 semi slicks and it's tunable, just they all hate them as it takes SEVEN MINUTES to read/write each time.
@@CreweTube oh, I've never heard of those before, must be just uk. They sound just as good as the 888. That should be a good tire! A good tune is 100% worth it.
First, I love the little car, being from Texas that is a bit of a shock as a race car. But honestly, I think I would truly love zipping that around one of our tracks near Houston. Secondly as a person that truly believes in the Tavarish code " I am the warranty" I love the disclaimer we are working without power tools because the baby is sleeping. I spend way too much time working on my Harley and understand the need for quiet while working. Neighbors already hate my unbaffled exhaust. Been following the progress and honestly cannot wait to see this little beast run the track. I am jealous sir. congrats!
Hi, I’ve got this happening on the drivers side 2018 custom. Do you think same issue?
have you solved this yet?
Lucky....mine 2020 transit 350hd dually 3.5 turbo.rear brakes keep lockin up then switched to front code said brake pressure switch/ sensor...power steering off code said internal short. I have launch scammer snd forscan scanner advanced.....lost no fix
Hi CreweTube May I use this on my channel, full credited of course? Where did this happen ? Thanks
Did it make a significant improvement?
Have you some restriction from being able to race with the car?
For the javelin sprint series its all classed based and they split you up based on what you enter, mostly open though with only limits in the upper classes.
@@CreweTube ok thx 👍
@@CreweTubeWhere's the Idris sprint series?
Tools used?
Thanks for the video. How did you get the wires off? They seem pretty well stuck in and I don't want to cause any more damage than I (well, a branch actually) already has!
They are tough! I used a pair of pliers in end
Thank you 😊 My husband managed to do it, thankfully! Now just to source a new mirror!
i guess driver's a shit all around the world
That is just frightening, bunch of dangerous idiots.
I should get a dashcam.
Were the mounting points for the seats already there. If you had to drill right through. Did you have to drop the fuel tank down
No, had to drill and bolt through with spreader plates. The factory tourneos mount in a similar way but with custom spreader plates that are also welded onto chassis rails. Fuel tank needed its strap undone and dropped slightly (onto a jack) but not fully dropped.
Hi do you no what fuse number this runs off I have a 2020
Sorry not sure!
When you said "a few reasons to do this. One, Racecar" I felt that in my soul
easier next time, lube the contact points of the pads, then install them. do not forget to remove the slide pins from the bracket, lube with silicone grease and instal
Stopping....I guess it might be important :) Keep firing my friend
Nice 👍
Not one on my 2019
Very nice video and demonstration. Thank You !!
Do you know the new weight of the car now?
Not yet, it was 900kg +- 20kg with the old engine and roll cage, but with the front passenger seat. I imagine its probably equalled itself out with things removed and added so probably around the same. Aiming for 8xx kg
ON my Twingo when i changed the clutch, the biting point was non existent - felt like the clutch cable was snagged/bent or something. I hooked my foot around the clutch pedal and yanked it toward me - heard/felt a click - must have adjusted something somewhere as its been absolutely fine ever since.
Has been known to happen on the cable clutch Renaults, this one is hydraulic now though.
Completely demolished a Twingo, had in parts for 1.5 years. and get it running again. and still no smile on John Crewes face. :,D the man is nothing if not consistent. ;)
So awesome! I am so happy for you you made it this far!
👍
Self clearancing perhaps 😅 Also I hate doing brake stuff, the fluid itself is a sensory nightmare and I'm always concerned about accidentally leaving some on paint
Do you need the crank case breather? Is it essential when doing the induction kit?
It will just exhaust out potentially very oily part combusted gas into engine bay otherwise
10/10 for perseverance!
