Thanke so much for this information. The gaskets on the Nikki are so small and delicate that it's no wonder they fail. I just wonder why these manufacturers allow the Nikki to be used IN THE FIRST PLACE. Cheers from a carpenter from South Carolina!
Im 100% with you on this, the niki is rubish but a lot of mower shops only sell the niki design. Great info, and yes I swapped my niki out for a walbro after market a few weeks back.. great vid man.. 👍
Thank you for this video good information . I also turned off my fuel and run it dry but later when I started up again the O-rings leaked and fuel dripped in the carburetor throat and it was flooded . I had to wait four hours for the fuel to swell the orings and make them seal again . so you really can’t run it dry .
I know this is a little late but could you elaborate at 6:07 "snipping it off"? I don't understand because my Nikki doesn't have a solenoid fuel shut off. Just snip off the plunger rod? Thanks in advance.
Just bought a Cub Cadet CC30H with a Nikki carb. Other than the gaskets disintegrating, what's really so bad about them? Also, do you have a number or link for a Walbro that would fit a Briggs 10.5? I think that's what my mower has. There's no solenoid plug.
These carburetors gum up quickly, are way more ethanol sensitive and do not last nearly as long even with using ethanol free fuel. There is a good video we show doing this on at th-cam.com/video/Wu5T8B8UBww/w-d-xo.html It requires a little more step wise but the same carburetor is used
Good video thank you. I cant find a 594593 carburetor for $28 dollars though. Hell i cant find one for twice that. Do you have a source you could share please.
I have a yth18542 with 18.5 hp motor from about 2021, There seem to be a number of variants of this model over different years. You mention the importance of the right jet size. Is there a reference that would tell me what the correct replacement walbro carb I would order? TIA
The carburetor here 594605 is almost always the one you need we just always like to double check. If you have model, type and code from the engine (usually stamped on the top of the valve cover) I can get this for you to confirm
@@IndRepair Thx for reply. The Engine model number is 33R7770003G1. Is there a way to tell if the carb is Nikki or Walbro that is on the lawn tractor? I have the issue with surging. The carburetor you have is either a Nikki or Ruixing but both replacements are coming into 594601 part number. This 594605 in the description will work good for your engine
@@IndRepair It does not have two bolts holding the bowl on. Not sure if the info I got is correct but 594601 is .028 jet and 594605 is .031 jet. Is a bigger jet better? After two NIKKI carbs on my Husqvarna GT51XLSI, I am absolutely done with NIKKI carbs! As you indicated, these carbs have a ridiculously complex and unreliable design. When it comes to mechanical devices, simpler generally means more reliable. I run the mower on ethanol free fuel, drain the fuel system, run the carb dry, and then run TruFuel through the carb to store the engine each winter. All of that effort has done nothing to ensure reliability. Surging and lack of slow speed idle are a way of life with these carbs. I have 18 and 13 year old Honda and Kohler engines with much simpler carburetor designs which run flawlessly ... even when using fuel containing ethanol. I believe that the recommended carb replacement shown in this video is for single cylinder Briggs engines. My mower is equipped with a Briggs 24HP 2-cylinder engine (Model 44N877, Type 000G1, Code 151028YG) fed by a single barrel NIKKI carb ... looks very much like that in the video. Can you suggest a Walbro or clone carburetor to replace the NIKKI carb on this engine?
