I've bought one but not received it yet - this is the best review I've seen. Gives me an idea of the real capabilities - thanks, appreciated

This is an appropriate way to review a four wheel drive vehicle and presenting all the details.
Many other channels has reviewed this product by covering the things which we already know.
    Keep up good work

What makes the hilux the best 4x4 pickup is that all 4wd models have rear differential locks, which easily trumps other LSD based traction aid in other pickups

TBH, not using 4WD when on mud is unwise both for oneself as well as the environment. Even if one can traverse the terrain with 2WD, it'll be a much less safe and controlled journey and creates a lot more unnecessary track damage. One major issue with these brake based "E-LSD" systems is their heavy toll on the brakes. Use them for extended periods and expect brake fluid boiling to be the norm. There's no substitute for proper mechanical LSD, manually lockable diffs or electronically locking diffs if long term off road reliability is needed.

Why no differential locks like what the Aussie Rogue has?

As a Hilux user for all my 25 years of driving off road working in the agriculture field, I hereby summarizes MY requirements for a REAL Hilux;- 1) at lease 12 inch (30cm~) of ground clearance, 2) ease of maintenance and repair in the field often with nothing more than what you have in a toolbox~ 3) able to carry, pull or drag at least 500 to 1000 kg of load thru various terrain, 4) tough as a buffalo and just as water friendly and 5) able to get me home when things goes south.... Frankly, the new Hilux doesn't score that high on my list.....Note;- currently still driving a 2015 Hilux, slightly modified for off road use.
