Shane is a sympathetic figure and I felt for him. Related. And he should be proud of being a loving father, which you can sense that he is, given how he was treated by his father. I wonder if he’s gotten to the point where he no longer tries to get love from a rock. It took me a long time.
I find it interesting that the most revealing interviews Vince ever gave came w/in a months time of each other ( Feb 01’ Playboy & March 01’ Howard Stern Show) …this was around the time they were just about to purchase WCW and it was clear he was the winner of the “Monday Night Wars” …it’s very telling that he was finally able to sorta open up about himself once he finally “won”

I now want to hear Jim and Brian discuss how different the WWF and the wrestling business in general would have been had Vince, Sr. sold the company to Gorilla.
There’s loads of what ifs besides what if Vince Sr never sold to his son. Like what if Owen hart never broke Austin’s neck? What if the Montreal ScrewJob never happened? What if Chris Benoit died before he did what he did? There’s so many what ifs.
IMO Vince is Jealous of Shane, he went out of his way not to help him at all, then refused to leave the company to Shane. He should have loaned him money for UFC but Vince didn’t want to see him succeed. Shane was a visionary, Vince is a crook.
Paul Heyman just said “Vince McMahon is a textbook narcissist” in a way that would sell tickets. You (Jim) defined it summarizing Heyman’s description. I believe Vince had an extremely traumatic upbringing. Here are a list of traits from Harvard’s website: a grandiose sense of self-importance a preoccupation with fantasies of success, power, beauty, or perfect love a belief that they are "special" and can only be understood by other special people a need for excessive admiration a sense of entitlement, which may include an unreasonable expectation to be treated favorably or for others to comply with their demands and expectations behavior that is exploitative and takes advantage of others to achieve their own ends a lack of empathy or an unwillingness to identify with the needs of others a tendency to be envious of others or a belief that others are envious of them arrogance, haughty behaviors, and attitudes. Sound like anyone we’ve heard of?
Dont forget on that mr mchamon dvd 2005 vince had a problem with hhh and Stephanie dating at first and they did stop for a while did Vince said ok he was cool with it and hhh said he asked undertaker for his opinion on it
Somewhere in an alternate universe, Vince got some therapy earlier in his life and is a totally different person who didn't become a creep and has other hobbies/interests outside of running his wrestling company.
Shane was the highlight of this documentary. I just felt bad for him and wanted to give him a hug. One of my favorite wrestlers ever and he’s not even a wrestler. I hope he knows how appreciated he is.
Shane was given a life of privilege and sadly Vince McMahon telling him to buy him out is like Lion in captivity vs lion in the wild it’s not possible. My heart goes out to Shane I met him at a bar in NYC he had bodyguards and tips very very well.

Shane’s idea seemed sound, though, I’m sure he’s done fine outside of WWE. TKO is basically what Shane envisioned ~20 yrs ago. Vince’s dad gave him a sweetheart deal. Vince frames it differently but his dad was actually easier on him than he was on his kids.
I really wanted to know how Shane felt about all of that. It's like everything he wanted went to Triple H. Even if Shane didn't wanna answer the question, I wished the interviewer had asked him.
what everyone forgets about the no mercy match between vince and steph. in the lead up to it, steph implies vince pimped her out to other promoters, sponsors and tv execs when she was 17.
Something else related to that build was the pre-taped interview Stephanie did, there were reports back then that people were leaving their seats when that aired in the arena. Also regarding the match, they had to pay a fine to let it happen because the PPV was in Baltimore and the Maryland State Athletic Commission are against Intergender matches (same reason WCW changed the mixed tag match at Great American Bash 91).
Yeah, and these people are acting like trish is some innocent child who doesn't understand what Vince did. Most likely she was fine with all this stuff because he had an extramarital affair with her.
When I saw an interview with Linda and Stephanie... Linda tells that SHE had to talk Vince into letting Triple H and Stephanie date.... because Stephanie was afraid to ask her dad about it.
I've also always heard Vince was against it at the time. He's probably just changed his mind now and as a compulsive liar he can't admit that he wasn't always supportive.
The story goes that Vince always liked Triple H and would always tell Stephanie to look for a guy like him. Eventually when they did start dating, he wanted them to stop because he was getting heat from the wrestlers because a wrestler dating the boss’s daughter would obviously cause a lot of heat. They decided not to follow that advice and Vince eventually relented and the rest is history.
I'd wager that Vince kept Shane under his thumb with no power because he was terrified that Shane would do what Vince did to his Dad even though it doesn't seem Shane is a sociopath like Vince.
I mean seriously, how did Shane and Stephanie turn out relatively... normal?? Linda must be some kind of saint (which we know isn't true either, she was in Trump's cabinet)

"The clip of Trish stripping and barking like a dog" was the perfect moment to play an advert for Rover pet care, well done TH-cam.
Stephanie still fine as hell. Triple H is a lucky man
The way he chuckled after saying his wife looked good at the wrestlemania press conference was quite endearing. He grinned like he knew he was a lucky SOB.
i think they are divorcing
She's leaving him for Theory. Hence the burial.
Not so lucky when they’re divorcing
She's a lucky woman.
thought this was the best episode by far, the Shane/Vince stuff was really interesting and extremely sad. Very relatable thing for many people.
I think we can all agree Vince is a horrible parent.
Why? He never abandoned his children or physically assaulted them. For all his faults as a human being or as a blood thirsty promoter, there was never any reports he was horrible to his children.
@@rajakghosh6602 He may not have physically assaulted them, but he did his best to mentally assault them.
@@mr.whisper3338in what capacity?
@@rajakghosh6602 Telling Shane that he's too nice and that if he wants to take over the company, he needs to kill him (Vince), and if Shane can't do it, he's not man enough to run the company. That is some sick sh!t.
@@rajakghosh6602being an absent parent that doesn’t care about his kids is a form of abuse too
Stephanie to Shane: It's all about the game and how you play it.
What was really interesting was his reaction whenever Sable came up. He wasn’t uncomfortable about steroids, screwjobs or even Owen Hart dying. But Sable? He starts pretending he can’t remember her like a spurned teenage boy.
He was probably thinking Brock Lesnar still exists.
the heartbrealing thing for me was Shane talking about how all he wanted was toale hisndad respect/be proud of him. He beams when he is talking about his match with Taker at Mania and says "I got a hug for that one". And then tgey go to so many wrestlers talking about how Vince is like a Father figure to them....but Shane doesnt feel like that.
These thumbnails are killing me 🤣
Shane going to aew seems more plausible after " do you think your dad respects you?" And he gives a hard meh
The sad thing is Vince clearly doesn't. Shane could give him the moon and Vince would still like Stephanie better.
I could maybe buy it a few years ago when vince was still running wwe, but now? Why? He wouldn't be sticking it to the old man. It'd just be him and his brother in law going at it. The impression I've gotten is shane and triple h are on good terms?
@@vanyadolly Do you think the insest thing he mentioned is hereditary... ugh
Sad to say, rich people still treat thier children like they're breeding horses. They worry more about status than they do about love.
Only if Brickhouse Brown and Newjack were both still alive. They would have definitely been interviewed by Netflix
I need Jim's reaction to the greatest piece of wrestling Merch ever. WWE are now selling toilet paper with Dirty Dom's face on it.
For real?
I saw that I thought it was a meme. Genius!
@jasonelliott7977 yes it's on WWE Shop and heading to Wallmart and Target
"Dominic is a goddamn STAR" for ten minutes, I guarantee you
I thought this comment was a total work, but it's clearly a shoot. Just don't tell Logan Paul.
Nah that promo backstage Vince cut with Paul back in 03 talking about Undertaker’s wife was when I realized Vince was nuts
"His children are gonna be KIDNAPPED! ...And his wife is gonna R*PED by a motorcycle gang right in front of the Undertaker!"
That's when the sexual assault 1st came out and people were shocked; my first thought was: "Have none of people watched WWE in last 30 years? Vince McMahon is a sick, distrubuted human being."
I have finished all 6 episodes and I tell you what, after everyone else finishes it, to hell with Cody, Shane McMahon would be the biggest Babyface in the business, you feel so bad for the guy
Lord Varys is a great description of Paul Heyman.
I couldn’t believe Trish was defending the barking incident, Stockholm Syndrome is real.
The royalties syndrome is real......😂😂😂😂
Since she made tons of money from it it doesn't really surprise me
Her explanation was valid.
The only 2 that have said the things no one else would say out loud
I want Brian and Corny to do a watch along of this docu series and point out any inaccuracies or comment in real time.
That would turn 6 hours into 9 hours lol
I'm not much of a psychoanalyst but I really think Vince hates women based on the things he has done to them on tv.
HBK agrees with you. I blame Vince's mother for the way he turned out.
Mom issues. If what he said about incest is true then technically Vince is actually a VICTIM. But since hes a man he's beyond reproach and beyond saving. He's trash buy all you emasculated men in the comment section...
But know if he was a woman we would be coddling her and blaming the father for everything.
The opposite sex parent can really scar a kid with their behavior. This is where "daddy issues" comes from
I blame vince's parents and stepfather for how he turned out. Did his brother turn out like this as well?
I hate how the word misogynist gets casually thrown out, but I'd say vince definitely is one. On screen and off.
@@NotAdultingToday yeah there has to be a reason or reasons for someone to be a misogynist. They’re not a misogynist for no reason.

Trish Stratus bound and gagged the ruthless aggression era 😂😂
Ridiculous as that was, someone at least tried to do something about it. All two of them, but by the time Samoa Joe was getting kidnapped by ninjas these stupid programs were acting like it's perfectly normal to just sit there and do nothing, not even call police!
I now want to hear Jim and Brian discuss how different the WWF and the wrestling business in general would have been had Vince, Sr. sold the company to Gorilla.
Just as carny
There’s loads of what ifs besides what if Vince Sr never sold to his son. Like what if Owen hart never broke Austin’s neck? What if the Montreal ScrewJob never happened? What if Chris Benoit died before he did what he did? There’s so many what ifs.
The problem with what ifs is they tend to be exampled in vacuums exclusive to what was happening elsewhere.
Finally a Jim cornette review of Trish barking for Vince I never thought I’d see the day 😂
IMO Vince is Jealous of Shane, he went out of his way not to help him at all, then refused to leave the company to Shane.
He should have loaned him money for UFC but Vince didn’t want to see him succeed.
Shane was a visionary, Vince is a crook.
If Shane got the UFC would he have been buying out WWE circa 2023?
TGBL raising an interesting point on the whole "bastard" thing
I kinda got the idea from this episode that Vince didn’t love his dad but Shane loved his
29:24 yeah I replayed that 3 times to make sure I heard what I heard.
Jesus i did too. First thing i came to the comments to see
Did you mark the wrong time? I don't get it.

Paul Heyman just said “Vince McMahon is a textbook narcissist” in a way that would sell tickets.
You (Jim) defined it summarizing Heyman’s description. I believe Vince had an extremely traumatic upbringing. Here are a list of traits from Harvard’s website:
a grandiose sense of self-importance
a preoccupation with fantasies of success, power, beauty, or perfect love
a belief that they are "special" and can only be understood by other special people
a need for excessive admiration
a sense of entitlement, which may include an unreasonable expectation to be treated favorably or for others to comply with their demands and expectations
behavior that is exploitative and takes advantage of others to achieve their own ends
a lack of empathy or an unwillingness to identify with the needs of others
a tendency to be envious of others or a belief that others are envious of them
arrogance, haughty behaviors, and attitudes.
Sound like anyone we’ve heard of?
I think more of a sociopath, he doesn't always need admiration
More entertaining to listen to these than actually watch the damn thing
Dont forget on that mr mchamon dvd 2005 vince had a problem with hhh and Stephanie dating at first and they did stop for a while did Vince said ok he was cool with it and hhh said he asked undertaker for his opinion on it
Somewhere in an alternate universe, Vince got some therapy earlier in his life and is a totally different person who didn't become a creep and has other hobbies/interests outside of running his wrestling company.
alternate universe, Vince was never F'd up during his formative years to begin with.

If only Gorilla Monsoon was still alive to share how he felt when he didn't get the company from Vince Sr

I believe Vince and Linda haven’t been together in many many years and stay together for political and financial purposes it brings to mind Bill and Hillary

Paul analyzing Vince when he was a piece of shit himself lol
If I didn't know that was a picture of Vince McMahon, I'd swear it was Humphrey Bogart.
what everyone forgets about the no mercy match between vince and steph. in the lead up to it, steph implies vince pimped her out to other promoters, sponsors and tv execs when she was 17.
Anyone else get an ad at 14:38 for dog food 😂😂
No just a Kamala ad. So yes actually. Lol same same. Lol jk jk jk
14:16 relax, Jim. Shane McMahon has always been spoken about very highly by everybody. You were not ahead of the curve by any means on this one.
The part where Vince referred to Trish as his girlfriend and then corrects himself as on air was kind of wild.
Yeah, and these people are acting like trish is some innocent child who doesn't understand what Vince did. Most likely she was fine with all this stuff because he had an extramarital affair with her.
Trish let Vince tap it
When I saw an interview with Linda and Stephanie...
Stephanie discusses it on Howard Stern about Vince making them stop dating.
