    Vince denying that Undertaker's concussion at WrestleMania 30, saying he couldn't remember most of the match was actually because Taker being traumatized at his WrestleMania win streak being ended was peak delusional.

    • @ravenlit
      @ravenlit 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      Yeah...I have a hard time believing that a veteran like Calaway with nearly 40 years under his belt would suddenly face trauma at the prospect of losing a match, when he's always shown himself to be the very definition of professional. He got a concussion, Vince. Fuck alllll the way off.

      That might actually make it worse, in my opinion. It means he's not completely lost his mind, he really is just pandering to the Young Bucks crowd to fit in. It's like when Randy on South Park pretended to like teen music, he knows it sucks but they'd start calling him another old guy yelling at clouds if he didn't praise them. At least that's how I see it. Dave seems geuinely terrified of not looking 'hip' and 'cool' to younger wrestling fans.

    This review series has been fascinating and in some ways better than an average documentary. I finally have to take issue with one point. The credit for the resurrection of Women's Wrestling, in my opinion, largely belongs to "Dutch" Mantell and Gail Kim.
    While WWE was dialing back their Women's Division in the late 2000s, Mantel and Kim wanted to develop a relatively more serious Women's Division in TNA. They got the blessing of Dixie Carter and the rest is history, with the Knockouts Division putting on matches that sometimes equalled the men or stole a show! There's no way WWE, or Stephanie or whomever failed to notice that!

    • @NotAdultingToday
      @NotAdultingToday 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Two of the biggest things I loved about tna was the knockouts division and the x division. It was so great to watch women actually wrestling rather then bra and panty matches and all that others divas era garbage.

    • @bradleyminoski2020
      @bradleyminoski2020 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And not to mention Vince is more than gone and the guy in charge isn’t a horndog and women’s wrestling is still over which shows that it’s never been a problem despite what Jim and Brian says.
      15 years ago you couldn’t say that. The Divas matches and the petty, real housewiveesque storylines that came with it was an excuse to piss or grab a beer because it was unwatchable. What TNA was doing putting women in decent storylines put respect on women’s wrestling and that’s a good thing.
      Well said man!!

      Yeah, milk toast to the max. To prime non-wrestling fans for the WWE Netflix era.

      WWE is for casual fans. This series has done an awesome job to attract new audience who don't know anything about wrestling.

      I think it was a disappointment if you know what's up. For anyone not interested in wrestling (shockingly the majority of the world), it will be surprising to them. Just like Tiger King. For those in the know it wasn't surprising, for the rest of us it was insane.

    Vince probably loved doing nice things for his worker bees as it made them indebted to him but also reinforced that he was the top of the food chain and helped him dominate that person.

      100%
      It's also a way for a narcissist like him to be able to guilt trip people. I'm not saying Vince has never done anything kind just out of kindness, but someone as rich, powerful and demented as him could easily pull that off.

    I thought the show was going to bury him and then I remembered halfway through that Raw is moving to Netflix. I'm surprised they didn't sell him it back. Perhaps they thought it would cause them too much negative publicity if the story got out.

    I watched it and was disappointed they didn't have anything new. I learned more from the podcast about him, compared to the documentary. They could have been more hard-hitting questions, but it came across like they were sugar coating alot of the questions.

    They are still promoting Donald and his family tree along with Linda because that's another ten years to a hundred years of content. One day they will have a season of pewdiepie, ninja, Logan Paul, Mr. beast, and Chris chan all trying to use biographies to be the next president of the US.

    12:25 The Vince bump that always stuck with me was on an episode of Raw when Chyna threw him over the top rope in some mini royal rumble, and he wrenched his neck on the bottom rope and smacked the fuck out of his head on the edge of the ring. That had to cause some permanent cerebellum and stem damage.

    At least Vince made changes and stood by his decisions. The chair shots and the wellness program are there. He tried to keep Kurt Angle from killing himself with drugs and Angle then went on to spend the bulk of his career in TNA. Compared to any other promoter Vince sounds progressive. Yet we have Tony Khan promising health insurance while Miro and Punk handled their own medical.

    There was a rumor that Vince tapped Kevin Dunn to make a quick documentary to respond to the Netflix one but it turned out to not be true.
    Thats a shame, if it were real it would have been interesting to see what stuff Vince wanted to clear the record on and if he was going to _"speak his truth"_

    the sound bit about the statute of limitations is probably chopped up. because NY lifted the SOL and then that case was brought. so he was probably talking about that and then the clip was cut. also, im sure a lot of other stuff about vince was not put in the doc because of the new lawsuits. the producers had to avoid saying anything about Vince.

    Ultimately, Netflix sunk time and money into a doc on a company they now have a major deal with.
    So it was always going to end up watered down.

    I haven't gotten to listen to all of this episode yet but in the McMahon episode they are discussing at the 47:58 mark when they are talking about the sale to Endeavor, that sounds a lot like Brian Last. Has anyone heard if that is brought up by Jim and Brian at anytime during the podcast.
