    For a long time I thought that Anbernic had hit rock bottom with the RG552 due to the bad and unthought-out ergonomics of the handheld (shoulder buttons). But with the Win600, Anbernic has managed to repeat the SAME mistake with the bad ergonomics (using the stick and operating the shoulder buttons at the same time) and as if that wasn't bad enough, in my opinion Anbernic also demands a much too high and very cheeky one Price for the service offered. It almost seems to me as if Anbernic is trying to compensate for their previously unachieved sales and profit targets with each additional product through an even poorer price-performance ratio. And that WITHOUT even paying attention to the most important point of all: THE BUYER 🤷‍♂️ That the buyer really has a good feeling with the handheld in the end and that especially in relation to a reasonable and fair price. Anbernic has achieved this goal with the RG351 series. Now Anbernic only draws attention to embarrassing actions against Taki Undo. This is a very weak signal from Anbernic. Thanks for the effort 👍

  • @CarbonPanther

    I... really don't know what to make of these specs, it's astronomically slower than even the most basic Core i3 AYN Loki Mini will be, with again even lower efficiency (and therefore battery life), It's a 2020 Athlon running on Standard Zen, needless to say this chip doesn't hold a candle to any semi modern 7nm chip in any department.
    So considering this and AYN's offerings i don't see the Win600 going anywhere if it costs even a fraction over 200$, which apparently it will at almost over 300$ WHAT, like if you just wanted a low power mobile game streamer, then do yourself a favor and just get the AYN Odin Lite! Unless you really need an x64 arch? But then just wait for Mendocino Handhelds or if you can, a Steam Deck.
    Pah, not to mention, no micro sd card slot, no hdmi, no analog triggers, single port ram memory slot, i mean, really Anbernic? 300$ for almost no features?

    • @RandomPlaceHolderName
      @RandomPlaceHolderName 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      iirc, the AYA NEO Air Plus is the unit with the i3. AYN only offers Mendocino and Intel 7505/8505 on their lower end Loki.

    • @shlokshah5379
      @shlokshah5379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RandomPlaceHolderName the 8505 might just be called i3 without a P core. The P core itself will consume 3 watts under presure and for only having 12 watts max, the igpu might get like 2 or 3 watts for it own. Even with 15 watts as a tdp limit the igpu will get 4 watts at most. In the loki mini pro there is no power hungry P core so you will be giving 5 or 6 watts to the gpu. Most games on intel apus throttle on the igpu insted of cpu. It will peform better in the same tdps unless you want heavy ps3 emulation. Sorry for the text wall.

    The fact that this device struggles with PS2, NGC, and anything past mid-tier indie titles doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Anbernic keeps releasing "more powerful" devices, but the fact that they STILL can't make one that can play anything past PS1/N64 doesn't leave me optimistic for the future of the brand. I feel the only Anbernic devices worth investing in are the RG351V or the RG351MP, which are running on old and crusty chipsets. No one is buying Windows handhelds to be locked into PS1/N64 and below and indie games

    Russ does an amazing job with his reviews and tutorials videos, Anbernic is a good overall retro device, I own the RG351v and 351mp, they do a good job with custom firmware, however, now that Anbernic is stepping up their game with these new devices let's keep it real here, we're in 2022 and emulation games are from PS2, Gamecube etc, these games came out over 20 years ago and this device still struggles to emulate it perfectly, this is not good enough for price point I'm afraid. These new overprice retro devices need to match a minimum standard of nintendo switch or at the very least keep up with Ps3, Xbox 360 games without any issue, otherwise it's not really worth it I'm afraid.

    They AGAIN get absolutely demolished by the competition.
    "Anbernic : Get Less for More" should be their company motto/tagline lol.
    And it's not just a question of power VS price. The biggest issue is that you get a device rushed to market, that is badly designed, and unsupported. If most of your devices would be absolute trash without the community's hard work, well, there's a major problem.
    I terms of quality and design issues, Anbernic has become similar to Powkiddy, with the huge difference that with the latter you get cheaper prices, so it makes sense. It's one or the other, not both.
    It's almost insulting. In any cases, I think anyone still interested by this device should wait for Taki's review. He's a consultant for such devices in China. And more importantly, he's not afraid to be critical when there is a problem or if other devices are better in every ways for similar prices. • @benc.5558
      @benc.5558 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is a place for focusing on multiple use cases. There are people for whom the out of the box experience is the only thing that matters because they are not interested in doing any tweaking. There are people who are interested in really digging in and doing some in-depth tweaking and optimization to wring the absolute most that they can out of the hardware. And there are people in the middle, who might be willing to install a custom firmware image or set up a launcher as part of their initial setup, but don't want to do any long-term tweaking beyond that. I largely find myself in the last category personally, but all are valid perspectives and I think Russ usually does a good job of addressing all of them.

    One of the things I'm looking for in a windows handheld is a device to help me with my Steam unplayed list, lol. So I'd be interested in a review that touches on 2000-2010 era AA or AAA games. Things like Tomb Raider, Arkham Asylum, Fable 3, Bioshock, Borderlands 2, etc.

    Still no analog shoulder buttons, for a windows device, this isn't right. How would I play my racing games? Do they not like analog shoulder buttons for some reason? This is the main reason why I wouldn't buy this thing over upcoming devices. And why would they put the Dpad up top? For a retro gaming console 32bit and below I can kinda understand but for any new games? Why??? I'm looking forward to that Aya Air Plus with the I3 processor over this. I saw ETA's video on that I3 processor and it can play Wii-U and PS3!
    I got an Odin and I can gamestream my games and have an analog shoulder buttons and play wii and gamecube faster than this! lol..

    Nice device. Did the Steam Deck kick off the revolution of all these handheld pcs? I know Aya, Ayn, and Gpd have been around, but it seems like the deck is pushing these companies to be competitive.

    • @johnduncan5117
      @johnduncan5117 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest I think that's a bit untrue. Arguably it was niche but it was still growing really fast with companies like GPD and Aya. The success of the Switch was also a big factor. So to say the growing interest is all thanks to Valve is rewriting history in my view.

    • @harleyn3089
      @harleyn3089 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnduncan5117 I do think Valve had an effect on pricing. Prior to the steam deck, small Windows PCs were mostly up in the $1000 range. Companies seemed to think that if it's small and has controls and runs Windows, they could charge a lot of money for it.
      These devices may have existed anyway without the Steam Deck, but the prices probably would have been a lot higher.
      Also, from Valve's perspective any device that runs Steam OS isn't competition. They sell the Steam Deck at cost so that you'll buy their games. If another company makes a Steam OS handheld, Valve is completely happy for you to go buy it.

    Great video, love these videos on the little handhelds you make reviews on. Because of you I plan on getting a Miyoo Mini sometime in the future :) I don't know if this is up your channel's alley but, I'd love a review from you on the GameSir X3 Type-C Controller that came out recently. They had an indiegogo campaign where they sold it for 39.99$ I believe which has ended, and it now costs 99.99$ as its retail price, so from that retail price alone it's totally fine if you don't want to make a review on it. I considered getting it myself during it's indiegogo campaign but I ultimately chose not to as I didn't know wheter or not the pass-through charging feature would work for my phone. Anyways keep it up! You're awesome.

    • @thesidneychan

      @@KyleRuggles I think it's also reflected in the performance. It struggles with some titles, and definitely doesn't match up to what the Steam Deck is capable of. So maybe that's why it's not analogue - it's not strong enough to emulate games that take advantage of those buttons.

    I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to upgrade the ram, like 16 gigs, not only that, but also with higher MHz (like 3000+ instead of the 2400MHz). Could you try to do it?
    BTW, do we know the price of that device now, or still no?
    My opinion, Anbernic will get humiliated again, a bit like what happened with the RP2+, but this time it's going to be by the Loki line of handhelds by AYN. Sure, the Win600 will be available first, but there is a reason others take their time to release a good product, instead of the "Anbernic way", which is rushing half baked products every 2 weeks! They have become what Powkiddy used to be, without understanding that Powkiddy devices worked because they were half or even 1/3 of the Anbernic equivalents' prices. You CANNOT do both...
    A single day of consultation during the Win600 prototype would have made it very clear that the thumbstick position was an issue. Things like that are evidences that a product is being rushed into market.
    Anyway, this device will live of die in relation to its asking price. If it is too much, JUST to have an already outdated device that you will use only a few months before getting one of the actually good pc handhelds that are coming out soon (or for the Steam Deck that you have been waiting for), it won't be worth it for most. If it is really cheap, yeah, it has a short window, but it could work...
    I wonder how Taki's review will be.

      @harleyn3089 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is. ETA Prime added 16 GB of 3200 Mhz RAM, and the performance increase was almost linear on the GPU. GPU synthetic benchmarks were about 50% faster. If I get one of these (which is pretty likely) I will definitely add faster RAM almost immediately.

    • @Unholy_Louie
      @Unholy_Louie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harleyn3089 Yeah dude I just finished watching his video! You are right, it is a game changer for that device, although thermals might be an issue, with no dual channels, etc. But since I do have a 16 gig ram module that I ended up not being able to use, it could be a good option for me, depending on the price (not sure how many MHz my module is though, I'll have to check). Otherwise, if the price is more than $200, with the price of a separate 16gig module, it probably won't make sense for most people. Especially with devices such as the Loki line coming up...
      But eh, if it's cheap (but it probably won't be), upgradability is always a good thing.
      I still believe that the price alone will be what will make or break this device.
