Our V10 Touareg gets TWIN 3" Snorkels!!

- After Scott took the Touareg for a swim in a previous off-road adventure, we thought it would be a good idea to fabricate a set of snorkels to avoid any future issues!
Let us know what you think of how they look and sound!
(P.S - These will be getting powder coated black)

Looks good 👍 , that little pipe you’re calling a water drain though is the filtered air supply to your air suspension compressor so you’ll probably need to extend that above water level & put a filter on it if you want the air compressor to survive 👍👍👍

Nice upgrade for off roading. Have you design new tips at the top of the roof. To stop rain or snow from getting in?
That little pipe that was in the air box is the compressor air intake
Powder coated in crackle black/texture finish will look smart👌
I’d love to see you’d body shop colour code them to the car would look 10000% better but nice job
Use conformal coating for water protecting circuit boards to spray over all of the sensor plugs etc , it’s amazing stuff .

Really like these. Does it need to be mapped again, since the air coming in will have to travel much further down the inlet pipes? Or does that not matter?
It won't matter.
I think the drain pipe you mention that was connected to the previous air box may be for suspension air compressor. I'm not sure the set up on yours, but that's what it's for on Audi Q7 - I takes filtered air from the air box when raising suspension.

@@DarksideDevelopments apologies, it does too. Use to people in Australia with utes who put two air filters on utes that only have one filter for looks

I'm selling mine. Decided to have a change in the fleet.
Mines a 2006 V10 fully loaded and onky 60k on clock.
I watch a lot it 4x4 videos. Normally snorkels are made of plastic, but questions I have are. How do you stop rain coming back down to the air filter? Normally a snorkel has the entrance to it as a forward facing right angle. What happens to water that now drops into the inner wing?

@@DarksideDevelopments to be honest I would most likely drive up to you guys after the lockdown to get a snorkel professionally done... then do some lanes to test it

Another class vid Ryan 🙌🙌just a quick observation 😉the angle of the snorkels on the roof? ,what happens with the crap weather we get mate especially at the min it’s torrential does it matter water going down actual intakes 😉😉great vid tho and the music in the background class😎😎😎
They are pretty much horizontal so nothing to worry about!
The water injection level while driving is likely a non-issue, but I would worry about what the slow accumulation of water gets up to if parked outside a few days without something more on the tops.

@@DarksideDevelopments Yeah, the v10 and v8 are pretty similar with their air intake apart from the turbos. I’ll give it a look.
@@DarksideDevelopmentsAlso, have you considered taking the sway bars out? I took mine out last weekend and it makes a big difference off-road, and articulation. Haven't noticed too much change on the road or highway yet, it does lean a slight bit more on sharper corners but nothing drastic. Don't feel bumps as much anymore either. It Might not make as big of a difference with your car though as you have air suspension and mine is steel spring.
I have some custom made disconnects ready to fit! The front CVs worry me, easy to max out on lift

Do you need a form of a ‘ram’ top, like from safari snorkels ??
I'd recommend against it unless you consistently run in dry dusty conditions... the ram tops are great at getting hooked up on tree's and slurping down bugs ect to plaster your air filter.. most owners around here end up turning them backwards. Claimed impact on power is big, and while thats extremely hard to measure (as your not moving on a dyno), the actual intake pressure/temperature is dead easy to observe while driving, and doesn't look any different with ram, without ram, or even with backwards ram, so my bet is any change in power (or egt, economy ect ect) is less than your normal day to day variance, rather than something you'd feel/see just using it.

Brilliant !!! I drowned my previous 2008 Toureg and now use this one off road for work but as you can imagine I avoid water due to the intake being so low - I can’t believe VW went to all the effort in making a brilliant off roader and flawed it with the air intakes
Oh and will you be fitting them ? Or is it a DIY kit
