    Not boring at all! Love your work. Have done my fair share of work on these and they are not fun!
    I once did 2 new cams, lifters, water pump, 10 injectors, 2 new fuel/tandem pumps etc on an R50. Pig of a job.
    Love from Australia!

Bloody thing gave out periodic rattles and then went silent for months. Thankfully we now have ultra strong magnets which are a bitch to try and feed through narrow steel openings in the inner guards but once they snap onto the target they cling like shit to a blanket :)

    Reyt then! We’ll see a abart thart. Have a look at the tandem/fuel pumps on the rear of each cylinder head, a classic leak point on the V10 and also the exhaust manifolds, cracks around the back of the flange are classic with these. Camshafts, Injectors, tailshaft bearing, thermostat are all things that usually need attention when they have a few kms on them. EGR/DPF you may have ideas to delete - I know you make a nice EGR unit - looking to get one of them eventually.
    With the DPF deletes it has had, I wonder if the reprogramming was done. Looks like a bodge job someone has done previously.
    This is really good you’re doing a V10 series, lots of interest from here in Aus. Reyt, bring it on.

    Its funny how everyone says don't buy a used car from Birmingham, and everyone who's NOT bought/ at least viewed a car from Birmingham says "oh it can't be that bad".
    It really is that bad😅 Went with my dad to buy a decent spec Toyota Hilux from a dealership. Told them we were coming, and they were kind of inconvenienced that we asked to test drive it. And glad we did because there was an awful driveshaft type constant squeaking sound and as you got up close it looked like a bit of a dog (quite rusty + screws and fastenings missing)
    We drove 280 miles each way, stayed overnight, AND my dad transfered over the insurance to the new car before we left, but still walked away from it, so glad we did👍

    I'm surprised you''ll be keeping the factory bumpers, rather than going for a steel one thats going to give a bit more clearance, fit winch/recovery points directly and be hammer tone rather than color matching your worried to scratch up... but without being aware what your road laws are maybe that could be the issue. Anti-roll bar wise, haven't tried on a Toureg in particular, but generally its pretty easy to cut the bar on one side, drill a hole, and weld then weld a brace in so on flat ground (or either driving onto a rock or inserting a jack on downhill side) you can simply pullout a pin to disconnect the swaybar, and reinsert to avoid compromising road manners.

Lairy moment very lucky we was only at 50 and going straight. Also you need to watch rocks bashing the intercoolers and there is two coolant pipes in the passenger arch that are very vulnerable to stone damage lucky it only done the rubber hose on the one in question as them alloy pipes are a bastard to fit especially with the space in the engine bay with that beast. What are these like as a daily driver? I’ve heard they’re really hard on brakes and tyres

    • @SheepInACart
      @SheepInACart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are expensive to service due to the tight engine bay, fussiness (don't use non-genuine or you'll regret it) and fairly pricey amounts of fluids/filters ect, but then again I guess you don't choose a V10 over the V6 if you where shy about such things. The one anecdote I have here in Australia was a good friend bought one brand new and owned for years to use as a town car, never driven hard and "off-road" meant their gravel driveway, and that managed to be a bit of a nightmare, although looking at the engineering I don't really have much reason to assume that'd be a universal experance. With that said though, like other "prestige" vehicles instead of family commuters, extreme care needs to be taken to avoid one thats got issues, because once they have problems or have been abused, the work is never finished and can cost you a fortune. On the plus side it was surprisingly good on fuel, and while nothing special comfort wise it was still nice enough, but I'd honestly recommend just getting a cheaper to own/run smaller car unless you really need the 3rd row of seats/offroading/towing, in which case a Toyota Land Cruiser (if you can get the diesel engines locally) might be more of a brick to drive, but it blows the Touareg out of the water in all those things, or the duel cab midsize utility vehicles/pickups (including VW's own Amarok) are cheaper to own if you don't need the 3rd row.

      @@SheepInACart cheers, I’m shit scared of buying one and getting stuck with never ending issues. Apparently the V6 TDI is the goods, plenty of power and torque but relatively reliable. But the V10 TDI is too damn cool 🔥🔥 it’s tempting

      So front beakes are 17"? And and smallest wheel fitment are 18?
      I like what you did with the v10 touareg and considering on doing the same cause they are at a good price right now. And was hoping to fit some 17" steeles from a T5 and some more agressive wheels
