If Pakistan had been in good terms with India since independence they would not be in this precarious situation now.

As a foreigner why India gave independence to Pakistan? Pakistan, India and Bangladesh could have been superpower if they keep their country together and delhi as a capital, Islamic republic of India is good for everyone though if they remain united today.
I can't help but see so many similarities with the situation of North and South Korea. Both were divided in bloody conflict, both have changed in completely different ways, both the people's cultures remain the same, one is a success story of the power of capitalism, the other is an example of what an overly powerful military and dictatorship does to a nation.

In every MDG goals like child mortality, women's education, livelyhood index and women empowerment Bangladesh has outperformed Pakistan. While Bangladesh spent their money on education, healthcare and infrastructure, Pakistan spent it on their army.
The leesson here is: You can spend your money on either bullet or butter. Chose wisely.
