It’s crazy how you can hear him choke up. This song came from a dark place and has been a song I come back to when I’m feeling down. I personally think it’s the greatest song ever recorded.
Exactly. I think it's the modern "Tears In Heaven" and the only real difference is that the emotional baggage comes from different places in this song, whereas we all know why the other is sad. It's like Corey gets reminded of everything hard he's been through during this performance and it connects to the pain of everyone listening, the way his voice breaks into a pained growl during some parts is the saddest shit I've ever heard performed.

Stay with us. I've had my own battles with anxiety and depression. I'm glad to see you are seeking help. Just keep fighting. When you are carrying that weight, it takes so much strength just to get up. You are stronger than you know. Just have to let the weight go.

I only wish you weren't my friend Then I could hurt you in the end I never claimed to be a saint Ooh, my own was banished long ago It took the death of hope to let you go So break yourself against my stones And spit your pity in my soul You never needed any help You sold me out to save yourself And I won't listen to your shame You ran away, you're all the same Angels lie to keep control Ooh, my love was punished long ago If you still care don't ever let me know If you still care don't ever let me know

I'm afraid to write a word for this legend and for this song. All I can say is I'm sincerely thankful to Corey Taylor for giving us this awesome masterpeice.
Yep. I got into Slipknot about 2 decades ago when I was a kid in junior high. As I got older my musical tastes changed and morphed (and sometimes disappeared entirely)... but there are those few songs that come out every few years... in loss, darkness, tragedy, and sometimes in healing. They sit in that “🔴 PLAY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY” playlist in my Spotify account. Like a group of friends I hope to never need ever again, but know they’ll be there when I inevitably do... waiting to teach me things or make me realize something I’d never learned before. This song is up there.
This is my little way of saying thank you from my heart for your likes and comments on my personal and fan pages. I and my management are saying a big thank you. Much love from me to you We Appreciate All Of It.
Ok I went back and tried to listen to it again to see if I was just in a mood and didn't appreciate it. This time I had my girl listen. Her response with a smug look on her face like someone just farted was " is that Christian music". I shit you not. I couldn't make it 15-20 seconds on my second attempt. I tried.
I was 19 when I first heard snuff, at first I skipped through the song because it wasn't heavy but now turning 30 tomorrow I understand that I skip it due to how heavy it is.
I think Corey is awesome but I have to say when it comes to that phrase, he sings like an angel and screams like the devil, i have to say Chester Bennington from linkin park owns that accolade.
Imagine the balls it takes to front Slipknot, then go out, and own the stage solo with incredible emotional stuff that hits home like this. He did the oil and water thing, it's his.
What a beautiful and yet hauntingly sad song. Corey's heartfelt vocals give me goosebumps every time I hear it.. ❤ It took the death of hope to let you go

This is a Very Touching, Beautiful, Painful Song. Seeing the pain in Corey's face and eyes hit me hard. I felt that pain once. I swore never again. My husband and I now have been together 11years. It was hard to see him leave the first time in 1988. We have known each other 36 years.

"I couldn't face a life without your light, but all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight." Breaks me down every single time.
When you realize they no longer care enough to fight!
Lyrics:
Bury all your secrets in my skin
Come away with innocence and leave me with my sins
The air around me still feels like a cage
And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again
So if you love me let me go
And run away before I know
My heart is just too dark to care
I can't destroy what isn't there
Deliver me into my fate
If I'm alone I cannot hate
I don't deserve to have you
Ooh, my smile was taken long ago
If I can change I hope I never know
I still press your letters to my lips
And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss
I couldn't face a life without your lights
But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight
So save your breath, I will not care
I think I made it very clear
You couldn't hate enough to love
Is that supposed to be enough?
I only wish you weren't my friend
Then I could hurt you in the end
I never claimed to be a saint
Ooh, my own was banished long ago
It took the death of hope to let you go
So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul
You never needed any help
You sold me out to save yourself
And I won't listen to your shame
You ran away, you're all the same
Angels lie to keep control
