Settlers of Middle-earth - My Custom Lord of the Rings Catan Game

- Combining my love for Settlers of Catan with my love of all things Tolkien, I creating my own variation - Settlers of Middle-earth. This was a labor of love as I sought to make every element say “Middle-earth”. Since then, it’s become a hit with friends who also enjoy Catan, even if they aren’t into Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. All materials were acquired from a local craft store. I designed all the cards myself in Photoshop and had them printed online.

I was really interested that you created your own version of a board game, nice job.. perhaps it is a logical step for a passionate fan of middle earth to do about !!! 6 years ago I created a board game strictly based on middle earth if you are interested I could show you? it ultimately involves battles of lawful and chaotic characters for destination towns(locations) in middle earth and involves dice rolling, event cards and strategy . It is a lot of fun an average game takes 2-3 hours to complete depending on amount of players Involved message me and I can email you some information if you are interested... best wishes Glor Findel

The Pillars of the Earth boardgame might be fun to reskin. You place workers and build a cathedral together while competing for victory points.

@@NerdoftheRings This mod is so perfect! I was wondering if the graphics you used, at least for some things, could be available in a pdf form. I would totally flip our Catan hexs over and use them to make these tiles. I would also happily print off the other cards on card stock. I also agree with those who said the makers of CATAN really need to consider doing this. I would buy one!

Never knew I needed a board game so badly. Oh, No! I'm not just a geek I'm a nerd, also. Now we need a real LOTR stamp collection, so my hubby can participate.
Love it. I like that it is practically just a theme change and all the rules are the same (except for the additional ring rule) though I prefer lots of new thematic rules and mechanic changes. Hope we get an official one eventually. LOTR risk is my favorite board game and I'm getting into the LOTR card game and eventually will get Journeys. Been playing Catan remotely for now and would love an LOTR version.

I've made several themed (modded?) catan games, including a steampunk version (more road building [rail building] bonuses), a corporate version (more sabotage) and a candyland version (all kinds of shenanigans) as well as my favourite, a board made of cookies. I love LOTR and this will definitely be next on my list but I would change a few things.

Sent this to my wife and she was googling to see if you could purchase this. We love Catan as a game but the kids have recently got into LoTR and would love this game. Guess copyright etc would make it tough to produce.

It’s said to have stared out as if from a great window in ROTK. I always thought it was a bit of a grey area as to what it actually appeared as, I didn’t think it was as portrayed in the films. I knew it wasn’t Sauron himself like the films but assumed it was more a device of Sauron for looking out rather than a physical giant eyeball on the tower
This is INCREDIBLE! My wife is a huge LOTR fan and watches your videos all the time. I've been considering 3D printing a LOTR themed Catan set for us to play, but I don't have the Photoshop skills to pull off the cards. would you consider selling them somehow?

It’s the LEGO Bag End set from The Hobbit movie! Pretty cool, came with Bilbo, Gandalf, and a bunch of the dwarves. 😁

The cards I designed in photoshop. Then, I had them printed from some online printing site (can’t remember which).
