It was a terrible contrast to the Amazing classic suit. The classic black suit failed to contrast the og classic Spidey suit, and it was a boring design that could've used more color. I love the Spiderman 3 black suit, Raimi and his team made it interesting, cool, and contrasts the classic Raimi Spidey suit perfectly. As much as I still love both classic and Raimi suits, Raimi's version is more appealing. I really hope in the next Tom Holland movie, after No Way Home, they design a great classic black suit. Other than that, great video, I just disagree on your take.
@@ender01o66 I think that was a better choice, because deadpool has red In his suit, and deadpool already looks very similar to spidey. And carnage would later be red, so white was a better choice. They should have used more white tho
@@djnate1075 I mean, the original fan concept for the suit looked like that, and this was before the black widow suit existed, same with carnage however, they brought it back in absolute carnage, the big red spider logo
When talking about black suit adaptations, I really like how Spectacular Spider Man's version works (would be cool to see something like that in Raimi's SM3), where at the start is a black version of the red&blue suit but as time goes on and Peter starts to get more and more affected by the symbiote the suit slowly becomes the comic accurate version
I like how in spectacular Spider-Man the symbiote suit is just the normal suit but black, but overtime as peter’s mind gets more and more corrupted the suit transforms into the iconic one we know and love.
One of my favorite things about Spectacular Spider-Man was that for the venom saga of episodes it started out looking like the suit in Spider-Man 3 and then as it began to take more control, it became the suit from the comics, getting rid of a little webbing here and there and making the logo larger bit by bit, scene by scene. I just absolutely LOVE that idea, and there is NO mention of the suit changing at all, it's just visual story-telling and taking advantage of the medium of an episodic series. Plus in doing so, it's paying homage to the Raimi movies AND how it traditionally looks. Spectacular just SLAPS man.
I LOVE how they used both the Raimi and original black suit designs in Spectacular Spider-Man to show his progression with the symbiote. As you said, the Raimi design is just a black red-and-blue suit (albeit a bit more menacing I think), which is cleverly made Spidey's first black suit look in Spectacular to show it hasn't drastically affected him yet; he's still the same, just with difference in appearance and power. But then as the suit starts to corrupt him you slowly see the Raimi-isms like the webbing disspear while the logo morph into the comic logo. The comic suit was seen as a drastic departure from his original back when it was introduced, so using it to show the growing shift in his character was brilliant. This utilized the Raimi suit concept insanely better and saves it for me. I wish the movie did the same. I get they wouldn't want to make multiple black costumes, but they could've had the logo at least change into the comics' logo. Also I think the silver webbing should've been made bright white, would've creating a more striking black-and-white like the comics, but I guess it wouldn't have looked good on Venom
Given how integral the raised webbing is to the image of Raimi Spidey, I can't really imagine a black suit looking right without it. He'd simply look too "naked" compared to his previous 2002 and 2004/2007 suits. That said, the fact that they still managed to give the iconic symbiote logo to Venom but not Peter is such a kick in the teeth. That general logo shape is way more iconic than any lack of webbing could be, ESPECIALLY seen from a distance. If that iconic logo was just added to the front and the back logo stayed the same (I like the Raimi black suit logo, so I'd like to keep it), then the design would feel a lot more true to the source material. Ideally, I think a good middle-ground blueprint for live-action spidey has already been established, and that would be the second black suit in the Spectacular Spider-Man show. The front logo is clearly mimicking the iconic black suit we know, the back logo is a warped version of the classic suit's, and there's still webbing to have good balancing of white to black without the design looking too naked or too busy
I don't think it needs to look even near completely accurate , if it works and is good in its own right , it's good , it was really supposed to be a new suit to Peter till the changes started becoming more clear to him , and it works well that the logo doesn't instantly change to Venom's , but changes a bit , and is changed completely till the point it gets to Eddie .
"This is something else." I love the Black Raimi suit tbh. As a kid i felt like it was a lazy palette swap, but the dark contrast of black fabric and the raised webbing really pops
Personally, I think the suit we got is the way to go. A full on black suit is way too simple for live-action, and it leaves it looking like naked black body paint. This can even be seen with the mcu concept art of a black suit Tom Holland. They added like a bunch of white swirls (veins) breaking throughout the whole body, which I guess makes it look alien, but I thought the black suit was trying to disguise itself as clothing/a suit, not give away that it’s a living alien cus that’s what lead to Peter taking it off. The only change I would make to the Spider-Man 3 black suit is to give it the classic symbiote logo, but keep everything else the same.
You have to understand they didn't just go for the classic black suit, not only because it looked like a porn suit, it also was because it was to hard to see at night scenes so its reasonable why the crew didn't go for that directions. But if i have to redesign it, i would just keep the Raimi black suit just as it is, but replacing the front spider logo with the classic big Venom emblem and keeping the spider logo on the back.
I honestly don't get why they didn't just use Venom's suit for Peter, but with just no mouth, and maybe stick with Peter's signature lenses for the black suit. Like they complain about it looking like a gimp suit, bet then do it anyways with Venom but with added details?
cant wait to watch you have a breakdown while dissecting the mcu’s suits😂discovered your channel literally an hour ago and watched your first raimi suit vid, then got part 2 straight away!
Finally someone who agrees with me. I personally have always had a problem with the raimi black suit not being comic accurate. But the suit on its own looks really cool and sleek. I just wish they pulled more from the sauce material the suit was based off of. Hopefully the MCU does the symbiote suit justice for the next trilogy.
Yeah I mostly agree. As a representation of the symbiotic suit I think it doesn’t work that well. Isolated as just “a black suit spider-man design” Though, I think it looks sleek as fuck and I really like it because of that.
It works better then the prototype shown in this video, though. Maybe just adding the symbionts symbol on the front would fix it, but going to close to the classic looks too bland and is too big of a leap from the raimi classic suit
It basically is comic accurate only for the rami verse it does the same thing as the classic black suit it changes the eye shape it changes the logo put the same logo on the back just like the classic black suit change the personality and it's intimidating
i disagree..... for me raimi black suit is the coolest and badass suit ever in the spiderman history. the raimi design works so well in black suit . that agressive spiderman symbol on his chest is freeking cool
I don't know, man. I think it's perfect for a live-action film. I really don't feel like having a comic-accurate suit would fit in live action. It's too jarring. I feel like it makes sense in a way, since the symbiote appears to be imitating the red and blue suit, whilst also representing power, with its all-black design. That's just me, though.
The problem with the Sam Raimi black suit is that they treat it like a normal suit which Peter takes off at the end. That's lazy they couldn't even bother giving Peter the symbiote logo Venom got his one
They could've just used the design for Venom but for Spider-Man, add on the Spider-Man eyes and remove the mouth and bingo, then just use a different design for Venom
@@gildedgliam6727except that wouldn't look good. Look up the prototype where they did just that, you can't sit here and tell me it looks good. It does just look like a gimp suit
@@Legion849that's how it was in the comics, the symbiont pretends to be a cloth suit and takes advantage of Peter, just like this does. I think it looking this way makes sense and works a lot better then what you're suggesting
I love the raimi black suit, so obviously people are entitled to their own opinions, but you also gotta keep in mind that Sam raimi didn’t know anything about venom nor did he like the character and was forced to put him in the movie which when he did it didn’t come out so well to lots of Spider-Man fans which is probably the reason we don’t have a Spider-Man 4
Well considering how Venom was originally never meant to be in Spider-Man 3, it makes total sense how the black suit was just, colorless original suit.
Bro finally someone who agrees with me on this. All the Raimi trilogy stans keep saying it's so beautiful. Just having a splash of black paint on the suit overall lessens the impact of the symbiote taking Peter.
I know this video is about the black suit, but I have a grievance about the beginning talking about the red and blue Raimi suit. So, to summarize, the Raimi suit doesn't represent Peter because he is geeky, and the Ditko suit does a better job representing this characteristic. What is it about the Raimi costume specifically that makes it not "nerdy" and what is it specifically about the Ditko costume that does make it represent Raimi Peter better? There is no actual examining done in this video to backup your opinions. Not saying it isn't a valid opinion or you shouldn't have that opinion, I'm just confused.
spiderman 2 and 3 are tied in first place for me for 2 very different reasons spiderman 2 is a perfect film about stress and managing respinsibilities, it's like hell bent in doctor who, but instead of grief, it's about stress, how it can make you seem powerless, it can overwhelm your life and by the end of the movie he has it under controll, he opens up about his stress to MJ spiderman 3 is a goofy hilarious movie that has the most quotable linbes and is incredibly fun to watch, delves into the cheesyness of spiderman and makes it a fun watch, and doesn't take itself too seriously which is why TASM 2 failed, that movie took it'self way too seriously where spiderman 3 is a goofy movie and became a silly movie, but still has mature themes in it and the sandman scene too
Finally someone had the balls to say it, and I agree. I get Rami's reasoning for it was aliens don't have fashion sense, but this is a fucking comic movie 😅
Even tho it could come off as lazy, I personally think it makes sense to just have a black version of the normal costume with a few changes to signify that it is a different suit
I heard another reason to this redesign is that producer thought the symbiote changing into a slick and slim costume with a completely diffferent logo would of made the goo seem like it has a fashion sense so they wanted something that mimics the original
as somebody who grew up with these movies, but not the comics... I used to think this was a cooler concept. It feels like the symbiote actually just covers HIS suit & turns it black
I think you'd have liked to see something like the Lotus suit for Tobey. That retains some of the qualities of the Raimi suit while being far morr Ditko. I imagine it'd suit him very well
@@malikmoss5519 Are you criticizing that suit just because of Lotus' crew members being involved in racism? Then the way of your criticism is incorrect. The 1967 Hammond suit is worse than the Lotus one.
I love how once the symbiote bonded to Eddie Brock, the spider logo changed to become venom's Signature logo and retain the webbing around the suit, like how I always thought of what venom is, a twisted version of spider-man, people give venom crap for not being a big and muscular, though I do think they could have made him slightly beefier, I liked his design nonetheless.
You could also argue that the reason it's so menacing IS that Peter Parker is geeky. Or that it reflects him trying to feel "strong" as someone who's been stepped on and bullied his whole life, I or anyone else could go way more in depth on that idea but you get my general point. That's what I like to think, at least.
i agree, its literally everyone's favourite suit and it pisses me off, just grab your raimi suit and dip a black paint bucket on it, give it a different logo and boom, its such a lazy suit.
Totally agree, Everyone seems to disagree with you, but the suit used isnt the ICONIC SYMBIOTE SUIT, its a totally different design so it cant be compared to the comics
I went from hating the opinions to respecting it because it was understandable. My opinion of this has grown on me, this is probably the most understanding spider-man channel that talk about suits and games.
I think it might've been worth mentioning that when Eddie gets the suit, it ends up looking slightly closer to the comics suit, such as having a more classic emblem.
I feel like the black suit being a colour swap works for this version of spider-man because the costume was already kind of threatening, with the sharp eyes and jagged logo
Idk, i like this suit. I like both of them. The way i look at it, is as if the suit has a mind of its own and copies his suit to change into something that peter can recognise and doesn't want to scare him or make peter think that the symbiote is a threat to him. Because the goal of the symbiote is to stay bonded as long as possible with his host after all.
I honestly think the Black suit in the Raimi trilogy works for it’s universe. Keeping the web pattern from the og costume was a neat idea and that it leads to a “corrupted/messy” web pattern on Venom was a cool and original touch. But, even as a kid, I wondered why they couldn’t at least still give him a more accurate logo: make it larger, white, and the legs stretched outwards.
it's still a symbiote suit, because if it was just a black version of the original red and blue raimi suit, it would not have made Peter, more stronger and more aggressive than he was
after spider-man 2, i absolutely love what they did with the suit (quite similar to spectacular spider-man), with the way it starts as a black version of his own suit (just missing webs and patterns) and it slowly turns into a more violent and rough design. i also love how that suit is also the symbiote surge suit, because we can tell that peter loses himself and goes full venom for a few moments during symbiote surge
Pfft lol Toby: uhhh... guys we have a problem Director: with the suit?? U good? Too tight Toby: actually I'm just very erect.... Director:...... Toby:.......... Director:.......aight change the suit we can't have that..
Dude i dont care about your opinion, the raimis spiderman black suit was awsome and beautiful! I‘m so happy that the design is how it is on the raimi spiderman black suit.
The reason that he had silver webs is because at the time red was extremely difficult color to film. So they had to add the silver to contrast and help the camera see the suit.
I like your vid and agree with most of your povs but this one is crazy i understand you points about the copying of the red and blue but its like that because the Symbiot wend right on top of the red one which more justifies the recolor and the spectacular spiderman did the same think at the start and was just a recolor but as the store progressed it turned more menacing
it feels like if you drew a line from the comic black suit and one from the raimi suit , the look of the black suit is what you get where to two lines cross . I like it for that tbh
literally it’s just a recolor of the normal Sam rami suit and the spider logo is slightly altered, also there actually was a classic symbiote suit but changed it to a lazy recolor.

Other than that, great video, I just disagree on your take.
the original black suit had red in it too, but they changed it to be white
@@ender01o66 I think that was a better choice, because deadpool has red In his suit, and deadpool already looks very similar to spidey. And carnage would later be red, so white was a better choice. They should have used more white tho
@@djnate1075 I mean, the original fan concept for the suit looked like that, and this was before the black widow suit existed, same with carnage
however, they brought it back in absolute carnage, the big red spider logo
@@ender01o66 If ur talking about the dark suit, I'd say that is a way better suit design than the symbiote classic suit.
@@djnate1075 ah, maybe
I definitely get your point but man that outfit looks so badass, I love it!
"This is something else."
I love the Black Raimi suit tbh.
As a kid i felt like it was a lazy palette swap, but the dark contrast of black fabric and the raised webbing really pops
I gotta say I hated how they made it a suit instead of a simbiote covering up his body in seconds just like venom
The only change I would make to the Spider-Man 3 black suit is to give it the classic symbiote logo, but keep everything else the same.
it is literally one of if not the best suit in the movies of all Spider-Man,TASM, and MCU
in my opinion it looks very intimidating which is why i like it, the sharp eyes look really good imo and the webbing just looks great
Good thing I see majority of people on here disagreeing cause the tobey suits are easily one of or the greatest spiderman suit of all time (imo)
Notice how people have no arguments
@@bennittotheburrito9606 the lines, logo, and mask look better
@@tobypate3191 how?
We have the exact same taste in spider-man suit designs
I feel the webbing and fine fine fitting of the suit makes the symbiote feel more like a suit instead of an alien
I do love the rami black suit, for the exact reasons you mentioned actually but this is also a great video, very fair
cant wait to watch you have a breakdown while dissecting the mcu’s suits😂discovered your channel literally an hour ago and watched your first raimi suit vid, then got part 2 straight away!
I'd recommend the Fortnite vid if youd like more design dissections!
FINALLY A NEW DISSECTION! love your channel, and it helps that i also agree with all of your opinions
i sat down for 8 minutes to hear an angry man complain about the only film adaptation black spider-man variant
Honestly agree, I think the el fett black suit is just a better design, the one we got is effectively a recolour with some slight adjustments
"I don't like this suit because its a recolor"
"I missed the part where that's my problem"
APSM when Sm3 suit: ew no
APSM when someone makes the same suit but with no raised webbing: HELL YEAH ILL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK
The thing that would add to this black suit is a blue tint and the original sign of the black suit with webbing which would be nice
Terrible adaptation of the original symbiote suit but it looks cool and fits the character, I like it.
Bro finally someone who agrees with me on this. All the Raimi trilogy stans keep saying it's so beautiful. Just having a splash of black paint on the suit overall lessens the impact of the symbiote taking Peter.
This is a very interesting take on the suits, I really like this
It's okay my guy. You have an opinion and you are passionate about it 👍
I know this video is about the black suit, but I have a grievance about the beginning talking about the red and blue Raimi suit.
"I dont like the black suit"
"I wanna put some dirt in your eye... "
spiderman 2 and 3 are tied in first place for me for 2 very different reasons
spiderman 2 is a perfect film about stress and managing respinsibilities, it's like hell bent in doctor who, but instead of grief, it's about stress, how it can make you seem powerless, it can overwhelm your life and by the end of the movie he has it under controll, he opens up about his stress to MJ
spiderman 3 is a goofy hilarious movie that has the most quotable linbes and is incredibly fun to watch, delves into the cheesyness of spiderman and makes it a fun watch, and doesn't take itself too seriously which is why TASM 2 failed, that movie took it'self way too seriously where spiderman 3 is a goofy movie and became a silly movie, but still has mature themes in it and the sandman scene too
Finally someone had the balls to say it, and I agree. I get Rami's reasoning for it was aliens don't have fashion sense, but this is a fucking comic movie 😅
For me The Raimi Black Spider-Man Suit, would have been better if they just changed the logo, similar to what they did to Eddie Brock's logo.
Even tho it could come off as lazy, I personally think it makes sense to just have a black version of the normal costume with a few changes to signify that it is a different suit
I heard another reason to this redesign is that producer thought the symbiote changing into a slick and slim costume with a completely diffferent logo would of made the goo seem like it has a fashion sense so they wanted something that mimics the original
thank you for putting the song in the beginning
as somebody who grew up with these movies, but not the comics... I used to think this was a cooler concept. It feels like the symbiote actually just covers HIS suit & turns it black
I think you'd have liked to see something like the Lotus suit for Tobey. That retains some of the qualities of the Raimi suit while being far morr Ditko. I imagine it'd suit him very well
Oh god. The lotus suit is so trash lol stop giving it life
@@malikmoss5519 Are you criticizing that suit just because of Lotus' crew members being involved in racism? Then the way of your criticism is incorrect. The 1967 Hammond suit is worse than the Lotus one.
Raimi symbiote suit i think is my favourite suit of all time
I love how once the symbiote bonded to Eddie Brock, the spider logo changed to become venom's Signature logo and retain the webbing around the suit, like how I always thought of what venom is, a twisted version of spider-man, people give venom crap for not being a big and muscular, though I do think they could have made him slightly beefier, I liked his design nonetheless.
The Sam Raimi Symbiote Suit looks kind of like Spider-Noir in comparison to the average Symbiote Suit
Finally someone else agrees with me that the “Symbiote” Suit in S-M3 is basically the red & blue suit dyed black.
i agree, its literally everyone's favourite suit and it pisses me off, just grab your raimi suit and dip a black paint bucket on it, give it a different logo and boom, its such a lazy suit.
The raimi symbiote suit is basically a "another fighter color pallette option."
Neat, but it's there.
Totally agree, Everyone seems to disagree with you, but the suit used isnt the ICONIC SYMBIOTE SUIT, its a totally different design so it cant be compared to the comics
Raimi suit part 2!?
After watching: yeah I agree its a pallet swap with tiny menacing touches added to it, as an ALIEN suit it's not it.
I think it’s a very clear that Sam Raimi really didn’t want venom movie.
That wine when he switched to the black suit 100% got me lmao
The raimi symbiote suit looks like a stealth version of the original.
I went from hating the opinions to respecting it because it was understandable.
My opinion of this has grown on me, this is probably the most understanding spider-man channel that talk about suits and games.
Nah bro, the behind the scenes photos of the original black suit looks like a gimp suit 💀
I would’ve like if they had the classic suit webs with the original symbiote spider-man logo
I disrespectfully disagree. The black raimi suit looks cool af…
I feel like the theme of the suit and his first tim wearing it were what rly made me love the suit
The raimi black suit is like if you could wear black Air Force energy
Pfft lol
Toby: uhhh... guys we have a problem
Director: with the suit?? U good? Too tight
Toby: actually I'm just very erect....
Director:......
Toby:..........
Director:.......aight change the suit we can't have that..
The suit reminded me of venom from the May Day Parker M2 comics and I loved Old Peter as that version of Venom
Dude i dont care about your opinion, the raimis spiderman black suit was awsome and beautiful! I‘m so happy that the design is how it is on the raimi spiderman black suit.
The Black Raimi Suit is just the copy of the Red and Blue but black with a different spider logo. What a disappointment that must’ve been.
Honestly this suit would be 1000% better if it wasn't a symbiote and just a black spiderman suit
The reason that he had silver webs is because at the time red was extremely difficult color to film. So they had to add the silver to contrast and help the camera see the suit.
Lmao the black suit of Raimi’s spiderman movies looks amazing I’ve always loved it
I like your vid and agree with most of your povs but this one is crazy i understand you points about the copying of the red and blue but its like that because the Symbiot wend right on top of the red one which more justifies the recolor and the spectacular spiderman did the same think at the start and was just a recolor but as the store progressed it turned more menacing
He just hates on everything
I do like how they adapted the story
Ngl I would have preferred if the suit started out like that then slowly grew to a comic accurate version
Actually they did make a comic book black suit but I don’t know why they scraped it.
it feels like if you drew a line from the comic black suit and one from the raimi suit , the look of the black suit is what you get where to two lines cross . I like it for that tbh
literally it’s just a recolor of the normal Sam rami suit and the spider logo is slightly altered, also there actually was a classic symbiote suit but changed it to a lazy recolor.
