    Being lifted in the chair with my husband during our hora (in the backyard where I grew up) was the absolute highlight of my wedding! I would have been so sad without a hora - such fun!!! Everyone we love, young and old were up on their feet and celebrating with us! This was a great video and loved your wedding footage!!! Thank you for sharing! 💗

      Oh my gosh that sounds amazing!!! I really wanted to have our wedding in my parents' backyard! It was too small so we ended up having the shabbat dinner the night before there which was so special! I hope you share some photos on Insta of your wedding I'd love to see!

    A video on what to expect at a Bar/Bat Mitzvah would be great. We constantly have friends ask us what to expect at the service if they are not Jewish, what to gift or how much money to give, whether they’ll be food, if it’s for both adults and children and so on. I love that friends want to be educated guests, I never want to exclude someone from a celebration because they have different religious beliefs and I always want to make them feel as welcome as possible.

    • @MyJewishMommyLife
      @MyJewishMommyLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I was 16 when I attend my first Jewish wedding and I can say, It. Was. LIT!
    And yes, it varies on how religious the couple is. My friend was very modern orthodox, but her in laws were def. strictly kosher and the reception was segregated. Women on one side men on the other but I had a great time celebrating her big day and I attended the weddings of her two other sisters and brother, each varying in how devout they are.
    thanks for sharing!

    Hi Marion! I'm Lisa. I've just recently discovered your channel. 😊 I've truly enjoyed watching your videos and think it's so beautiful & inspiring to have a fellow Jewish woman, such as yourself, be so proud of each aspect of our religion - and to give others such a positive (and educational) outlook on it. Have a safe and healthy rest of your pregnancy & keep up the awesome videos! 🤗 Good Shabbos from New York!

Beautiful wedding you had.....

    Such a lovely video!
    Couple of things:
    -The broken glass is a mourning symbol of the lost Temple, reminding the Jews that it is still missing. Building together a shattered world is a beautiful interpretation of this custom, which I appreciate.
    - The Hora may seem difficult to infiltrate (a closed circle), but actually all it requires is approaching the dancers, sometimes touching the conected hands of two dancers, in order for them to open up and let you join. I highly recommend!

    My soon to be husband is of Jewish decent but does not practice the religion. However, we do want to include some Jewish wedding traditions out of respect for his heritage. At the Jewish weddings he's attended, he said the bride and groom, after walking out of the sanctuary, came back in, dancing, and grabbed others to dance with them and exited the room again. Have you ever seen that at a Jewish wedding? I wanted to find a video of that but I can't seem to find one. Can you give me some insight on that or point me to a video that shows the bride and groom doing so? I appreciate any insight or help you can give me.

    i'm actually a bit perplexed to see there are differences between jewish weddings in usa/canada (i'm assuming you're n. american from the accent? please correct me if i'm wrong!) to those in israel. i mean, a great part of them is similar, but in general it seems the n. american consensus is more reformic while in israel it's purely orthodoxi, in the sense that only a "very open-minded" rabbi usually allows the bride to be present when signing the ketuba, let alone sign on it herself, or even say something when giving a ring to the husband (in general it's far more common here that the brides give the ring at the yekhud room). also the horra isn't really a thing in israeli-jewish weddings.
    i really loved this video if only for the opportunity to learn of all these differences! i'm getting married myself in four months haha

    • @MyJewishMommyLife
      @MyJewishMommyLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From my experience you'll find every community from reform to ultra orthodox in the US! In Israel yes it is much harder.

      I just attended a wedding in Israel and the chuppah was so emotional and beautiful! The rabbi was funny and sweet, the men sang the blessings and we all joined in, the bride and groom said their vows (after the groom put the ring on her finger and before she gave him his). It was an orthodox wedding but the families were only traditional and not religious. The chuppah is very long, it’s like 40 min, but we cried and laughed and sang the prayers and clapped along! Quite the party it was and it wasn’t the party time yet haha
