My God this song is beautiful! I lost my first husband in 1981 in a work related accident. We were both 24. I was fortunate enough to marry another amazing man. As strange as this sounds I wouldn't have the life I have now with two beautiful daughters and two precious grandchildren. I can't imagine my life without them. But I still hear his laugh in my head. Till we meet again Tom.
I always had favourites but I could never pick A favourite, nor one with the "best" voice (certainly not always the same), until I discovered David. I swear he has THE Best voice! Can go from raspy to beautiful smooth like no one's business. The ease, as well as the sheer tone, of his voice in the softer songs make me stop and close my eyes to listen because I don't want any distractions.
I can never understand how one can show a solid reaction to a song when they don't listen to the song in its entirety. In stead they keep stopping it, talking about what key they are in, the color of the video, how many fingers are on one hand, and if there are hairs on his head. I had one reviewer stop it 14 times. I was pissed. Just like the song says, "people hearing but not listening". This song is mean't to be felt, but one has to listen to it entirely to feel it. Thank you for the review, you did a great job on this Disturbed masterpiece.❤
So very sorry! That is so sad!! I am 72 and would love to go to one, but I am handicapped, I walk with a cane, and definitely could not stand for the whole concert, but sure would love to attend one.

Lost my grandmother in October, 2016. I remember showing her Disturbed's performance of the Sound of Silence on Conan O'Brian one day. She had her own laptop and browsed Facebook a fair bit, even though she was in her late 70's. Later, I heard her watching it again and she said "Yeah, I watch it every time I see it pop up again, he's got a great voice". I remember in my head laughing my ass off, because here's this stuffy English woman watching Disturbed. I wasn't even that familiar with them, but I knew they were mostly heavy metal and the heaviest thing I've heard her play was the Beatles. I think she would've enjoyed this album, because there are quite a few acoustic ballads. Haters can say what they want about it being 'too soft', but I disagree. This is very sweet and refreshing.

I'm 70 and never liked metal. Then I heard Disturbed's Sound of Silence a couple of months and was hooked. David has such an amazing voice and the musicians are spectacular.
My wife had a miscarriage a few days ago and she wants this song played during his service. I'm fighting back tears as I type this after listening to it.
Lost my lovely mother-in-law 3 months ago to Covid-19, and now my mom yesterday. She had been in the hospital for a shattered hip since last June. One infection after another kept her in bed and unable to get up to rehabilitate the hip. Eventually, after 11 months in bed, her body had become to weak to fight any more infections. She had been doing good, and was in good spirits last week but then, 2 days ago developed another infection from being bed ridden. It took less than 24 hours for her to decline and subsequently pass away. She’s with Dad now and I’ll be holding on to the memories. Thank you to the guys in Disturbed for this incredible tribute to everyone we’ve loved and have left us.
I fell in love with this band when Sickness came out. Now 66 years old and with every album they give me a new reason to love them even more. Disturbed never disappoints.
My mother is 72 years old and loves Disturbed and came to see them and Avenged Sevenfold before covid and we loved both acts!! David’s voice is so amazingly good and he has such amazing versatility he really is a master of his craft!! The band are like a fine wine that just gets better with age 🤘🤘🤘 Also love the recent cover of ‘If I ever loose my faith’. The details in the song are incredible and after the pandemic hit it brought the message of hope to us all! 😎🤘😎🤘👍
Yep, i am 67 as of Oct. 20th, 2023. Been a Disturbed fan since day one and even before 9/11 i found that the lyrics in alot of their songs had something positive even though the songs may be forbodding or even intimadating. But yeah, even though i hate wine the anology is fitting. But you can get that from whiskey too🤣 David is a very compassionate and introspectfully astute lyricist. What i like most that in the early days on their tours, you knew very well that David could beat your ass with words or his fists. And now that they are older, mellower and very socially sensitive, and his kindness is often displayed at shows,...you kinda know this compassionate man can still bust you up if you're a dick at one of his shows🤣
Lost a brother in June 2 years ago. He was a singer and music writer. His wife remains, she is so lonely, I heard this song and shared it to her. We call her our brothers memory keeper, she cried of course when she heard it. So did I.
I love this! My father passed last month of Covid-19 ... “ memory”tears are streaming down my face right now. I am in the medical field and the provider I work for lost their brother two weeks after my dad. I shared this song with her, told her to grab tissue before listening lol! She absolutely loved it! Disturbed is now one of my favorites! I original discovered them when I heard their rendition of Sound of Silence... it is wonderful!!!
Sorry for your loss. Disturbed came into my life when I heard their rendition of Sound of Silence as well. The lyrics are amazing and sometimes are the only thing that keeps me alive, such powerful songs and performances...About these memories, there's one message I would like to share: "The saddest part of life is when the person who gave you the best memories becomes the memory" Anyway, if I wrote anything wrong, sorry, I'm Brazilian and sometimes my english is not that well hahahaha. Hope u have an amazing life and remember: there's always a reason to fight.
@@brunocandiadallanora9610 your words were beautiful! I find myself listening to “Disturbed” more and more lol! The whole album.. seems to make me feel better! Please stay safe!
Man David has such a great way with words. I've always loved disturbed. I don't care if they write a whole album of ballads one day... I know it will be just as good as everything else they've given us over the years

Never heard of Disturbed until a few days ago when I heard Sound of Silence. I am a huge fan now. Going out to get some cd's. Would love for them to re-do some oldies on one album in ther own version......
Drenda Parfitt Hi Drenda. If not for my children (who are adults now) I would never have heard about Disturbed. All 3 of them have pretty much the same taste in music, but it was my youngest daughter who introduced me to so many awesome bands back when I was in my mid 40’s. I’m 63 now, and still love all of the music she had shown me. I was blown away by Sound of Silence, as it’s a real masterpiece from them. And a far cry from what they normally produce; same as this one above!! Just beautiful :)
Listen, everyone The time will come when all of us say goodbye Feel that aching in your heart Leaving you broken inside But we're never really gone As long as there's a memory in you mind So now go do the best things in life Take a bite of this world while you can Make the most of the rest of your life Make a ride of this world while you can Take the ones you love And hold them close because there is little time And don't let it break your heart I know it feels hopeless sometimes But they're never really gone As long as there's a memory in you mind So now go do the best things in life Take a bite of this world while you can Make the most of the rest of your life Make a ride of this world while you can And hold on to memories Hold on to every moment To keep them alive The world's greatest tragedy Souls who are not remembered Cannot survive So now go do the best things in life Bring the fight to this world while you can Make the most of the rest of your life Shine your light on this world while you can And hold on to memories Hold on to every moment To keep them alive The world's greatest tragedy Souls who are not remembered Cannot survive And hold on to memories (Hold on) Hold on to every moment To keep them alive (Keep them alive) The world's greatest tragedy (Hold on) Souls who are not remembered Cannot survive

My mother passed away two weeks ago. I have a brain injury, which resulted in memory loss. I need things to jog my memory in order to remember. This song will be it for me. Thank you.💕
Often, performances with raw, uncorrected vocals are disliked because people are used to the clean, pitch corrected album versions. In reality, all singers get pitchy and lose key slightly, especially a singer like David, who has a lot of vibrato in his voice. Those who don’t understand this are very critical of uncorrected performances.
OMG You can see the feeling and emotion of the lyrics in David’s voice and facial expressions! What a beautiful powerful version to an amazing song! Thank You
This song means to me the most important woman in my life my mum but I failing the lyrics and what she would want for me, depression and PTSD for the tragedy of my loss of her hit hard everyday and more in the nights. I love you mum

This is such an important song and has so much meaning!
I can't imagine that old school Disturbed fans like this at all. I'm glad to hear David's voice showcased in this way.
I’ve already told my family that I want this song played at my funeral/ memorial service.
My mother is 72 years old and loves Disturbed and came to see them and Avenged Sevenfold before covid and we loved both acts!! David’s voice is so amazingly good and he has such amazing versatility he really is a master of his craft!! The band are like a fine wine that just gets better with age 🤘🤘🤘
Also love the recent cover of ‘If I ever loose my faith’.
And now that they are older, mellower and very socially sensitive, and his kindness is often displayed at shows,...you kinda know this compassionate man can still bust you up if you're a dick at one of his shows🤣
Mom has been gone 12 months. She loved this song. Until we meet again xx❤
I believe "Hold On To Memories" has become an Anthem for an Epidemic that has long been hidden in Our Society. Thank You! 💔🙏
ABSOLUTELY!
Ez egyszerűen páratlan, ez a szám, ez a hang, zene fantastikus❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
My sister passed 2 weeks ago. Disturbed was her fav group. We were going to see them in January. Maybe in our next life...
EZ2B- Metal So sorry! Bless you and prayers. );
Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. May your sister live on in your heart everyday.
So sorry for your loss, may she Rest In Peace..
Hold on to memories 🎵
Irish Blessing : May you be in Heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.
I’m very sorry for your lost my condolences.
Sorry for your loss. Disturbed came into my life when I heard their rendition of Sound of Silence as well. The lyrics are amazing and sometimes are the only thing that keeps me alive, such powerful songs and performances...About these memories, there's one message I would like to share:
"The saddest part of life is when the person who gave you the best memories becomes the memory"
Anyway, if I wrote anything wrong, sorry, I'm Brazilian and sometimes my english is not that well hahahaha. Hope u have an amazing life and remember: there's always a reason to fight.
@@brunocandiadallanora9610 your words were beautiful! I find myself listening to “Disturbed” more and more lol! The whole album.. seems to make me feel better! Please stay safe!
@@lisastewart7332 Hahahaha me too, their songs are just wonderful to keep us going. Hope u stay safe!!
So sorry for your loss
Real music might make you cry
Real music makes you feel!
Whoa, Dave never ceases to amaze me with his vocal range
one of the best ranges in rock, reminds me of Bono of U2s range
Same
Especially with all the problems he's been having with his vocal cords
lets not forget about the guy on the guitar singing background
I Love the softer side of his voice. LOVE LOVE LOVED his Sound of Silence rendition. Do you have cd's of these softer songs?
The sorrow we feel when
we lose a loved one is the
price we pay to have had
them in our lives.
They played this at my sisters graduation from police camp
Man David has such a great way with words. I've always loved disturbed. I don't care if they write a whole album of ballads one day... I know it will be just as good as everything else they've given us over the years
This man just flattens me with his ballads. Goes to show excellent music crosses all lines.
My 42 year old son exposed me to David's music and I am a 68 year old grandmother, retired nurse and a veteran. Keep on Disturbed!
Beautiful
Definitely! I love their heavy stuff. But dammit I love their ballads too!
I would pre pre order that album in a heartbeat 😍😍😍😍
A whole album of ballads? That would be beautiful!!!! 😍
This song helped me recover from my ex husbands s******e😢 Guy I was dating at the time was super disturbed by my love for this song 🧡🖤
My son was a fan of Disturbed. This song hits home. I have found I love the words to many of Disturbed. Thank you for my memories of my son Disturbed!
This song hits harder when live
It's always better live!
I feel like as Disturbed get older this is the direction they need to head.
I totallly agreee. They should continue producing songs
Their ballads are amazing. As they mature, their music does too.
@@parksnewbornportraiture4989 :,)
😭 lost my big Maine Coon Odin SUDDENLY and am heartsick. Thank you for your beautiful timely performance! 💕💕💕💔💔💔💔💕💕💕💕
Give it up for the backing vocalist too! Great job! You two sound amazing together!
Thomas Christoffersen Definitely. He completes the song beautifully.
I was gonna say the same thing. Great backing vocals.
Beat me to that statement....wow!
The guy on the guitar with backing vocal is beautiful❤
Never heard of Disturbed until a few days ago when I heard Sound of Silence. I am a huge fan now. Going out to get some cd's. Would love for them to re-do some oldies on one album in ther own version......
I want to hear them do "Light My Fire" and "White Rabbit"!
Drenda Parfitt
Hi Drenda.
Disturbed did Songs Of Silence better than Simon and Garfunkel I hate to say that but it’s true imo. And the video is magnificent.
@@cyndyrob350
Mr Paul Simon agreed with you.
I love this !!!!!
A humble man. A Bold man . David Draiman LONG LIVE DISTURBED!
"A bold man" you don't say
Did you say a bald man. Ha ha jk
Love it! Love Disturbed!
I dedicate to my girlfriend who passed away 2.5 years ago. Awesome performance.
I love this song. My husband has been ill recently and lost all his memories. So sad. I can’t imagine how that must feel.
Listen, everyone
The time will come when all of us say goodbye
Feel that aching in your heart
Leaving you broken inside
But we're never really gone
As long as there's a memory in you mind
So now go do the best things in life
Take a bite of this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Make a ride of this world while you can
Take the ones you love
And hold them close because there is little time
And don't let it break your heart
I know it feels hopeless sometimes
But they're never really gone
As long as there's a memory in you mind
So now go do the best things in life
Take a bite of this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Make a ride of this world while you can
And hold on to memories
Hold on to every moment
To keep them alive
The world's greatest tragedy
Souls who are not remembered
Cannot survive
So now go do the best things in life
Bring the fight to this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Shine your light on this world while you can
And hold on to memories
Hold on to every moment
To keep them alive
The world's greatest tragedy
Souls who are not remembered
Cannot survive
And hold on to memories (Hold on)
Hold on to every moment
To keep them alive (Keep them alive)
The world's greatest tragedy (Hold on)
Souls who are not remembered
Cannot survive
thank you for posting the lyrics- great song!!
Thank you !💖
Hold on to those you love
I dont get it..explain
Have watched the reels of Disturbed on here, this is the first song I’ve heard I think I could become a Disturbed fan as from now❤ on
His voice is amazing. I believe he can sing anything and make it amazing.
Your mom was wise. I'm listening to this song for the first time. I thank her.
Really happy to see he's been taking care of his voice with proper technique. He may even be at his best now.
He doesn’t do the uhh waaa ahhh ahh ahh ...shit, those were the times. Down with sickness , stupify , the game , voices , fear, god disturbed are so unique..i have to agree with you tho his voice aged perfectly welll
My wife of 30 years suffered a massive stroke in 2016. She's still in a nursing home on a vegetative state. Holding on to hope and memories.
Every now and again there comes along a song that just seems to touch everyone and have a profound impact. From the gentle opening melodic sounds of the guitar to Davids powerful yet sensual vocals, there is something for everyone. One of the most powerful songs to date........
You should check out the live concert video for "A Reason to Fight". Just as powerful as this one.
Oh, David. There are no words......💕. Bless you for the music.
Those who gave a thumbs down must be some heartless humans. Only you miserable people can make your life full of happiness. Try it ! It might enjoy it .
This 63 year old not get enough of their music. Thanks to our 23 year old grandson who turned us on their music. Yep I am the COOL grammy. Can not get enough of their music. Went out and bought their Evolution Cd. We lost our precious Cocoa and this song has helped me though it
#63 here too
I love their music
My mother passed away two weeks ago. I have a brain injury, which resulted in memory loss. I need things to jog my memory in order to remember. This song will be it for me. Thank you.💕
This song makes me cry every freakn time.
🤧
I'm still trying to figure out how this got any "thumbs down" yet alone 290. Amazing performance.
@@parksnewbornportraiture4989 your to nIce , They suck like they could do better !? It so crazy people are so picky and silly .
@@teecop4735 eh, perhaps. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they just don’t know any better.
@@parksnewbornportraiture4989 Ok let’s say that 😂 lol !
Hes so fantastic. I could listen all day to his voice.
I dedicate this song to my mother who left this world two years ago.. Mom this song is for you, I know you are saying this to me.. I love You and I Miss You... Til we meet again :'( ..... Such a Beautiful song
I'm sorry Donna... I feel the same way about my mom. We WILL meet.. I only say that because she passed 3 days after I was born...so, never got to...but WE WILL BOTH be reunited with our mothers

I can’t get this song out of my head. It’s so nice to hear a song about something that actually matters in life. Touched my soul to the core. That is why disturbed is my favorite band.
