I need to thank you for hold on to memories. On may 17, 2023 at 0048 hrs my mother passed after battling her illnesses for a long time. We buried her on the 24th. 11 days after she passed my father has a massive heart attack, that was on May 28th trying to keep him with me the man died in my arms just as EMS arrived i yelled his vitals just crashed and started cpr long story short we had to end his life support. Agreed. I just started looking into his off stage life. Incredible. If you haven’t already, check out Zoltan Bathory of Five Finger Death Punch... also very incredible story
To my shame i only discovered Disturbed and David Draiman three days ago via "The Sound Of Silence" which i feel is the ultimate version. I then thought "Let's see how they stack up as a Metal band. So i listened to "Down With The Sickness" I now can't get enough of their music or David's beautiful caring nature. I feel honoured that having being given six more months on this planet, that i can share them with this amazing band, and the wonderful vocals of David Draiman. The universe has given me something to fight for. I cannot and WILL not leave this planet until i have drunk in more of "Disturbed" and "David Draiman" They have become my medicine. ❤
David Draiman 7:20 "you can't appreciate heavy if all you ever have is heavy". I can relate to this as I am a heavy rock guy, I also love and appreciate many other genres and artists.
Noone...I mean noone... Should doubt that David and Disturbed are one of the most humble, talented and amazing people in music. "Hold on to memories" is just one of their greatest moments in music. Hands down.
I’m 70, and just learned about this group recently -The Sounds of Silence. That’s always been a big favorite of mine. After hearing it by them, I listened to more of their music and downloaded several of their songs. I’m a fan!
I'm 63 myself, and I liked the music of the 70's and 80's a lot (and even before that). It's slim pickins since the new millennium, but this is one of the few bands I can get into. I really liked their last album Evolution. Much more intelligent lyrics, and some ballads thrown in there as well. The lyrics on songs like No More and Are You Ready are so on point, particularly No More, which means that we're sick of their lies. NO MORE!
I am 53 and I loved Disturbed when they first came out. Just musical genius. I have to say that my Mom died in early June and I had "Hold on to Memories" as the featured song in her funeral service. It was wonderful. I wish David could know that he touched my family so gracefully in saying our goodbyes.
I'm 65, have loved Disturbed from the first and lost my Mom 6 years which lead me to love this song with all my heart. I cry like a baby every time I listen to it. Sending YOU a BIG HUG! ❤
The hype is real, as people wake up they are searching for consolidation. Music helps massively.Especially in these dark times. You never forget a good song. This is absolute mind blowing poetry beautifully performed as music 🎶 and ' Disturbed ' as a phenomenon is gathering fans like no other band. ....well deserved. Ride the Worlds admiration guys 🖖😎👍🏴
Grammy's are worthless any more. Obama got a Grammy for reading a teleprompter and a Nobel Peace Prize for absolutely nothing except he's black. The fact that so many people who have viewed and played their music proves their success.
His cover of Sound of Silence got me hooked.. Then his Hold on to Memories 😍 A few I'm not fond of, but I listen to him and the song first before I judge it. He's got a new fan..
Where some people see selling out, others see growth. I have more respect for people who put themselves out there than I do for those who retreat to being comfortable in old ways.
I discovered this cool band ‘Disturbed’ , with David’s extraordinary voice.... With the cover song ‘Sound Of Silence’ four months ago. I became a loyal fan. Can’t wait to see them performing live , in my city. !!! 💚🎼💜🎵🧡🎶
Hold On To Memories was released the day before my younger brother passed and came on my youtube feed the day after. The amazing lyrics helped me get through the day
It's a great song Beautiful it makes me think of my two best friends that I lost couple of years ago I mean I always think of them but the song really does it and it does make me tear up Led Zeppelin has Stairway to Heaven this is disturbs Stairway to Heaven love this band David is just such a cool dude❤
I am a 69 year young woman and I never really paid attention to song lyrics for the most part in my youth. It wasn't until I heard Mr. David Draiman sing The Sound of Silence last year and he brought tears to my eyes. Since then I have listened to more of the band's music and I am just so very sorry I didn't know of them sooner. In my opinion, they are one of the greats. I only hope I hear more from this young man.
I first came to love Disturbed music from "Down with the Sickness" and put them in a category/genre that my wife calls "Angry White Boy Music". I listen to a lot of "Angry White Boy Music" because it relaxes me. Many hard rock songs are a release of anger and frustration, so you can get it out and be left with calmness. It is for this reason, that I love the softer songs sung by hard rock performers... they have gotten the anger out and can reflect on life. "Hold on to the Memories" is a perfect example of this reflection of life after the angst is released.
I lost my mom just about the time I heard this song. I shared it with the person at the funeral home. Next time I saw her she commented that this song was her new anthem. Since then I have made several photo tributes with this song as the backing track. Means so much to me. Thank you David.
When listening to David Draiman and Amy Lee from Evanescence these artists seem to be the ones that once you hear them speak and being so articulate and thought proving definitely break the heavy metal mold.
I’m just I was blessed to hear this song during the saddest time of my life. I’m watching my grandmother that will not be forgotten die and everyday is tougher than the next and I thank you ❤️❤️❤️
David Draiman. I love your depth, your talent. A huge fan. Thanks for what you bring. You broke that stereo type dude and I think many artist used alot of those stereotypical morres to falsely fuel their careers and buy into that and end up in really unhealthy places. Some haven't made it out with their lives. Creating and the evolution of the srasons in life that can be authentically, and honestly performed heals ppl on sooo many levels. I look forward to what is to come for Disturbed. Thank you David Draiman.
As a new fan of Disturbed, if not for their branching out like this song, I would never have given their music a second thought. But, as a result, I have been digging and listening and have a great appreciation for David Draiman’s passion, message and musicianship. Now, I can listen to their more “typical” music to hear what they are really trying to say…even though I am not a metal fan per se.
Love the interview! I'm a bit late, but I'm so glad I found it. David always does excellent in interviews. Very well spoken, as has been pointed out, I'm sure. :D
I didnt like Disturbed fom may years then I was in a video store and heard Stricken on the radio. The worker and i looked at each other like this song is amazing. So a couple of years went by and I bought it on my cellphone in 2007...years later stole a bootleg dvd...then realised that i needed to buy all their CDs. These guys are legends. I came slowly to the party.
I lost my sister about a year ago. We’re a very very close blended family of 7 kids 2 parents. I absolutely love Hold On To Memories was a fav song of mine when it first came out, still is. I’ve been thinking of her for the past few days and when I watched your video today, the floodgates opened wide. I needed to do that tho and when I recovered later (during a physiotherapy appt) I was so grateful to have had her as long as I did. Beautiful memories ❤⭐️🇨🇦
I am 63 years old and have been listening to hard rock / heavy metal since I was 8 years old. My best friend, of 58 years now, and I would listen to Jimmy Hendrix and other rock bands in his dad's den. I have always enjoyed listening to hard driving rock music....and enjoy the ballads that make it into the albums. Look at Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven!" Still a masterpiece some 50 years later. I started listening to Disturbed back in 2003 I believe...and have enjoyed each of their albums. Evolution is something special...as two of my brother's lost children that were in their 20's. One to an accidental overdose of oxycodone, and the other to Sepsis. Both have never been the same...and it's hard seeing them holding onto the pain. My older brother seems to have handled it better, but he's a retired military officer..and compartmentalizes things. My youngest brother, he has had the harder time, since it was his youngest daughter. He is the one I worry about...I am his older brother...I am also the biggest of all of us...as I am 6'6" and had aspirations of playing in the NFL as an Offensive Lineman...and I protected all my brothers. No one messed with my siblings...they knew better. But...not being able to help him bothered me. So...I finally felt that I could use my artistic talent to help him, his wife and their other daughter with the grieving process. So I painted a garden full of the flowers she loved, and the colors she loved...but I didn't finish it. I titled it...."Amanda's Unfinished Garden." I encouraged them to get her friends to come over a let her friends write her a message on the unfinished part of the painting. Seems to have helped...and her friends have filled the unfinished area with so many sweet messages to her. And when I heard "Hold Onto Memories"....I knew I had done the right thing with my painting. So...thank you David Draiman and all of the members of Disturbed, for this song....you have impacted more people than you'll ever know.
The Sickness is in the CD player in my car right now...and I'm 40 🤘 I think this album really emulates this year 2020...with the "virus" and the violence etc.
I believe that music is a story that the soul tells. No matter what genre it comes from. So continue sharing your souls with us and we will share those stories.

I found David's version of Sound of silence and fell in love with his voice! I do not like heavy metal music or noise as it sounds to me, but I also found his Hold on to Memories, and having lost my only sister almost 3 years ago, it really touched my heart. So I keep listening for these odd songs that he excels on, even tho I'm not a fan of heavy metal, I would love to hear him sing some older country music, just to hear his beautiful voice excel in another genre. I remember when Believe came out, I was in high school. Darkness was my favourite song on that album and it's still one of my favourite Disturbed songs!
I will be honest. I was kind of stereotypical of heavy metal lol, but I have opened up listening to some of Disturbed song. Some are racy, but David’s voice shines through.
David’s voice is incredible ❤❤❤

I do too, hes not only talented but caring and like you said well spoken
Yup and he is intellectual and very very smart being
Not only is he a great singer, he is a sage and intelligent man.

David is one exceptional human being.
correct
I fell in love with DISTURBED and David's spirit... what a beautiful soul
As I get older, memories mean so much more to me. This song touched me in a profound way.
I love his use of the English language ...definitely breaks all stereotype images of heavy metal
Hold on to th Memories. Wonderful. Thank you
Never get tired of Davids interviews. He’s so humble and down to earth. Truly cares about his fans and our world and humans in general.
I am a 56 year old woman and never thought I would listen to metal. I found disturbed and am transferred. Love them 💘
Lolol. I'm there with ya kimwolf1375!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I’m 70, and just learned about this group recently -The Sounds of Silence. That’s always been a big favorite of mine. After hearing it by them, I listened to more of their music and downloaded several of their songs. I’m a fan!
I truely hope someone from the band sees your message. It will show how your music is helping people in a positive way.
I'm 65 and learned about the band about 6 months ago, the same "SOUND OF SILENCE". Always my favorite! I'm a fan!
I'm 63 myself, and I liked the music of the 70's and 80's a lot (and even before that). It's slim pickins since the new millennium, but this is one of the few bands I can get into. I'm 72 and I'm also a fan since I first heard Sounds of Silence - an absolutely chilling & beautiful rendition of a classic.
David seems like the type of guy that he could talk to you about anything. He seems like a really great guy. Great interview!
I am 53 and I loved Disturbed when they first came out. Just musical genius. I have to say that my Mom died in early June and I had "Hold on to Memories" as the featured song in her funeral service. The human aspect gives so much more meaning to music and im proud to say ive been a fan for over 2 decades.
I still have the Demo tape of Sickness. 😊
I really wish that David won the Grammy for the sound of silence. And I was extremely dissapointed that he didn't win it for this song.
The hype is real, as people wake up they are searching for consolidation. Music helps massively.Especially in these dark times. You never forget a good song. Amen. It's because it's controlled by media, not statistics and the people
David is brilliant. I heard the song just after I lost my mother and brother less than a month a part. It helped me so very much!!!!!

Love the song. Makes me think of my nephew who passed at the age 13 and my mom who passed in 2012. Hold on to memories really touches home base.

One of my favorite songs from my favorite frontman and favorite band. ❤
I believe that music is a story that the soul tells. No matter what genre it comes from. So continue sharing your souls with us and we will share those stories.
Hold Onto Memories is Disturbed's heaviest track and it's a ballad. Let that sink in. (I'm including Prayer, Stricken, Down With The Sickness, Remember, The Night, Land Of Confusion and practically every song prior to the Evolution album in that statement! None of them are as hard to get through in terms of subject matter)

I'm almost 72, and love to fall asleep to his airing of Sound of silence from the Conan shoe, and the hold on to memories. He is a very gifted man!
he sang the Israeli anthem, its on youtube. darkness is a rare slower song i love to hear the rare snippets if his vocal warm ups, just vocalizing. he also sang unchained melody for a warm up
Ty for having him on ur show 🙏
THANK YOU FOR THIS MINDFUL DIALOGUE. IT IS ALL ABOUT EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. WE FEEL YOUR WHOLE BANDS EXPRESSIONS OF MINDFUL BEING. NAMASTE.
I included this song in a lesson with my 50+ aged students showing them how versatile the band is.

The sickness is a masterpiece album!! Perfect as it is!!
David is superb. Great band also. The interviewer seems to be hurting and confused.
I will be honest. I was kind of stereotypical of heavy metal lol, but I have opened up listening to some of Disturbed song. Some are racy, but David’s voice shines through.
