My husband of 46 years died 3 months ago. I love this song and band. I finally cried. My best friend, my lover, the man who loved me is gone . He would want me to be happy and live my life to the fullest. Disturbed, thank you for releasing the emotion I needed to feel. Live on
My husband I met when I was 16 and am now 67, is still with me but has Alzheimer's and, in a way, is no longer with me. I had not heard this song until today and it made me realise I have many memories but I still have to live again. He may be with me for many years yet, but I need to find my own life too and it will be no disrespect to him, who doesn't remember me. I am crying. I have no doubt, when the time comes, if he leaves before me, I won't cry then.
I'm so sorry for all y'alls loss. My heart sincerely goes out to you. I know it hurts like no other hurt in this entire world, and some days it's so hard to get out of bed, and even put one foot in front of the other. I've lost loved ones, and I have found a way to go, because of my kids, and I know that one day, we will all be together again with the ones that we love. There's days that feel like it just happened, and some days feel like it was long ago. The pain is still here, and the love for that person doesn't ever go away. Disturbed isn't a band that is just out there to make money, they are out there to make people think and feel. That is exactly what this song does.
Who says they sold out? 😂😂😂 because they have toned down a bit since asylum? Fuck them they clearly don't remember when David was having problems with his throat and vocal chords. They didn't sell out at all david will do anything he can to keep putting out this wonderful music. We listen to his music because of the lyrics and sound and obviously he has an outstanding voice! He'll the heavy metal days are over for me. I can keep growing with their music. I still listen to their older music but I absolutely love what they put out today!

I lost my son 2 years ago. His favourite song was The Sound of Silence. He went to see Disturbed and the song moved him to tears. Last night my daughter Googled it and this came up instead. I only heard about your band 5 days ago. I must have listened to The Sound of Silence over 20 times in that short space of time. I am an 80 year old Military Special Ops veteran, having served for 32 years. Just before Christmas, I was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and given 6 months to live. I have been saying my goodbyes and tonight something incredibly spooky happened. A Middle Eastern friend that I had not seen for over 30 years phoned me. After saying our farewells, he said “Before you go to sleep tonight, I want you to listen to a group that I have only found recently, but there music is so powerful and healing - they are called Disturbed and this is the track that epitomises our friendship.”. It gave me a feeling like I have never had before - THANK YOU and GOD BLESS

I have been a fan of disturbed since I was 15 and tomorrow I turn 37. If only this band knew how many dark places they have pulled me out of. As I sit here with my 1 1/2 year old. I am seeing things in a whole new light. Thank you for everything.

Hi, I am also a Bereaved Mother going on 21yrs. My son Sam was just 13yrs old DOD 4/11/03 He went to get the mail and was a Victim of Vehicular Homicide. A newly licensed teenaged driver tried to take a 90 degree turn at 70 mph and lost control. My son had no time to react, no time to run. It was a ghastly death for anyone much less your only child. He was hit by the car and the rate of speed at 70mph . The impact of the speed turned his brain around his skull. The front was in the back and the back was in the front. His head was trapped underneath the car for 4 minutes. The driver drove forward by doing a burn out according to the UPS man who witnessed the entire scene. I got home minutes later and every siren in my town was going off plus the Life flight helicopter was in the sky heading for my home. I got out of my car and when the people saw me they parted like the Red Sea. I knew. I just did. There he was, body on the ground, neck bent over the curb but I couldn't see his head. His head was smashed in the grass 4 inches. I dug him out like a dog and when I freed him he was missing parts of his face. I dragged him away, he was so heavy. I held him like an infant as I spoke to him. "Can you hear the sirens?" "Can you hear the blades of the helicopter?" "They are all for you, Mom's got you and I won't let go until the helicopter landed in the Highschool grounds. I knew he was gone. We were both covered in blood. Some sick people tried to get a look at us so the EMT's had to hold a sheet to block us and the camera from the Newspaper kept running around snapping pictures of us. I go back to that nightmare and still wake up screaming his name. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I had to be put in a Physciatric Hospital for weeks. I know where you are at in the beginning of your new journey, as I call it. If you ever need help or answers to questions I'd be happy to help. After 21 years I am a veteran. People who have had to bury their children don't even have a name! It's not in Webster's Dictionary. That makes the hole in our hearts that much bigger. An organization called "Compassionate Friends" saved my life. I can help you when you are ready. It may be a year from now but I've helped many Mother's by talking on the phone. Sorry doesn't cut it so I'm telling you I love you. This new journey is a path none of us want to walk on but we don't get a say in the matter. 🫂❤️

I just turned 31 and been living most of my adult life bottling up my emotions, constantly swallowing lumps of anger, sadness, stress, and loneliness down my throat tucking it away in a corner. I love how this song isn't just about one person that someone lost; it's about the people we've all lost, and reminds us that the best way to keep them alive in our hearts is to remember the good times we spent with them, and that we don't have forever with the ones we still have. Inside the Fire is about the anger and self-blaming following immediately, and this is the release and finally being at peace with their memory.

I think this album was more about the theme of mental health after losing some many friends of the previous few year from suicide, and addiction. To me, it is a very personal album. It makes me remember those that have gone away. It also gives me hope about my own fight with addiction and mental health.

I lost my son a couple months ago. He had major problems from the start. We spent 4 months at the children’s hospital before we got to come home. We got to spend the most beautiful 2 years of our life together at home where he belonged. I was thinking about him all day and on the way home I turned on the radio and they said some new disturbed was coming on. I’m so glad I didn’t not change the station. my condolences but this band, Linkin Park, and Three Days Grace helped me some what get myself out of bed when I lost the woman I loved with every fiber of my body and our unborn twins. I lost my dad just over a week ago. Since then, I wake up every morning, tell my dad that I love him and miss him. This morning I woke up to go to work and I did my new routine. I woke up, got ready for work, told my dad that I love him and miss him , I got in my truck and turned on my pandora....this song comes on. The lyrics spoke to me almost as if it was my dad telling me "I'm ok, I'm good, just hold on to the memories". I know there's tons of healing in the days ahead, but this song played a big part to accepting my dads passing. Thanks to Disturbed for this amazing song. We lost our 3 year old son, Paddy, last night. This song is one of the things that is getting me out of bed and keeping me moving forward. We thought we were ready for him to go, and we told him as much. He went surrounded by family, in my arms. But when the time came, I begged him to stay. I lost both of my parents in the same year. It was really hard. But I've learned that if you look, you'll find people to lift you back up. Sometimes you have to open yourself, or take a chance on someone. But there's always a light if you look for it. Take care and God bless.
I lost my father to suicide and both of my grandfathers to sickness/age all in the span of 4 months this past year. I miss them everyday, but the best way to push through is to have a supporting group of friends you can rely on. Wether it be a church group, a team member, a teacher, or any other sort of person you can confide in during your darkest times. You’ve got this , I pray for you and and your mother’s health

this song hits different.. i lost my grandfather very suddenly last year to cancer. by the time he went to the doctor for stroke-like symptoms, the lung cancer had metastasized in his brain. growing up, your parents/grand parents seem invincible and to watch this man who had been my hero my whole life succumb to something like that was unreal. we just made it through all the firsts.. christmas, thanksgiving, birthdays... they leave a void when they go that will always hurt but you also take them with you in life. the lessons they taught you, the memories you made with them.. and it makes it a little more bearable as time goes.. to everyone i this thread/comment section, much love y'all. we make them proud every day by being the best we can be for them.

I love that Disturbed changed their sound over the years. A lot of bands can't or won't try for a bit of variety. We've had plenty of heavy Disturbed songs, this is a nice change of pace and this is a damn good song.

I’m a paramedic and 5 years ago I had to cut my best friend of over 20 years down after lost his internal battles. Worst day of my life. This morning I stumbled onto this song and as a long time fan of disturbed I'm surprised I haven't heard it till now. I'm 40 and lost my dad may 11th this year and this song brought me to tears. Thank you Disturbed for making music that helps us deal with loss in a way that also helps us celebrate life at the same time.
Today I lost my grandfather and on my way home from work this song came on and it just felt like a message from him. I have always been a fan of Disturbed as they have gotten me through a lot of hard times. Hey I know what you're going through. I'm blind and I had to make the awful decision to put my beautiful Guide Dog Lauren to sleep. Lauren had cancer, 4 operations, chemotherapy and steroid treatment. Lauren was only 7 years old and she was my best friend. So yes, do as this songs says, hold on to memories. This song Hold On To Memories by Disturb had given me the ability to heal from the death of my husband. My husband was a fan of this band for some time now. I was not into this band but after hearing this song I new I would survive. I listen to this song every evening and I have moved back to Panama City Beach where we lived and where I lost my husband in a motorcycle accident. Thank you . It’s the little things that help people that some people don’t realize

Linda Sorrell, I also lost my biker husband, almost 6 yrs ago. Not in an accident, but to a heart attack. This song makes me want to remember everything, good and bad. I lost my father almost 3 years ago to cancer. This song was just coming out on the radio. When my mother pulled the plug because the cancer was so severe we played this song. I only have memories of my father. I left the home at 17 for the military and did not have much time with my family when I left in 1995. I was involved with the incident in Kosovo and the refugee camps and was sent home on emergency leave for my father. He was given a second chance in live and received a liver transplant and lived 21 years with that transplant. We lost him in 2022. I was making my life in Florida with my girls and came home to lay him to rest. I was injured severely in 2005 as I was driving home to my family at the time which was my mom and dad and siblings to come home to my daughter who was only 2 at the time that I was the only parent for and I was doing my job to service to country. They were my true family besides my fellow brother and sisters in arms that I served with. It was the hardest part in life to get up off my feet and learn to walk again and gone through the good fight to get where I am today to be the man and the father I have become now in life. Thank you for this song it means so much to me in life.

I lost my son 12 years ago. I didn't think I could listen to this. You were his fav band. We stayed in the same Hotel you guys did when I took him to your concert when he was 14. He refused to wait up, to get an autograph. Said you were just doing your job and you needed rest. I was so PROUD. I'm sorry he missed this song.

@Devon Hoff-Felix, this song has really help me too. I lost my wife in June last year at 37 years old after only 14 months of marriage. The last 7/8 months have been unbearably hard, & I miss her every day.
First time I saw this was shortly after losing my father and a good friend to cancer. Both passed within months of each other.
The part that hit me most was the little boy with his mask. Hes remembering his dad and doing his best to make that mask bright and beautiful. I'm fighting back tears at work right now
