It's actually a Hymn written 100 years before Gospel music would ever become a thing. And the man who wrote it wasn't a nice man, he was a slaver, deserter, foul mouthed well beyond sailor's standards (and that is saying something), and incited mutiny against his captains.
This isnt just a metal singer....this is an artist, an all around singer with a fantastic range, vibrato control, and a beautiful tone. Bravo sir. *standing ovation*

At 77 years old, I resemble that remark. lol I am of the Elvis and Beatles generation. We can actually hear Dan’s awesome voice. Much of the heavy metal is overpowered by the guitars. Dan’s simple black background makes it possible to see the emotion he pours into every song. And the glimpses of his personality in the outros show what a kind, caring and funny guy he is.

I must confess that I have never been that much of a fan of the 'belting out' style of vocals. My taste runs more to Frank Sinatra (and the King's Singers 🙂). The best way to hear AG is with the pipes. AG and Scotland the Brave are far and away the favorite songs played by massed bands at Highland Games in the US.
@@mescko the tune for AG sounds good on the pipes but if your looking for what sounds best played by massed pipes look no further than Highland Cathedral, there are thousand of heartstoppingly beautiful bagpipe tunes but I wouldn't class Scotland the brave as one but each to their own
Like most people I've heard this song all my life....but this rendition.....WOW does not cover it. This young man put every single thing he had and then some into it! WOW! It left me with goosebumps!
My brother-in-law was always brought to tears by this song. He passed away last wednesday and this song will always bring the fondest memories of him.
I’m just an old guy who has never considered metal real music, but I have to confess, this young man’s rendition of Amazing Grace is how John Newton meant his lyrics to be sung - with absolute clarity and piercing conviction.
I've heard this sung many ways and heard it in church all my life. This is hands down the way I realize it was meant to be sung - with the sound of triumph.

This is my second comment here and I don't expect you sir will ever read it but here goes. I first heard this in April 2023 thanks to you tube. It punched me in the solar plexis and copious tears fell. My face was wet and I realized a relief of grief I didn't know was there. By the end of the hymn I felt pure joy. Something I hadn't felt for some time. Thank you Mr Vasc for bringing me back to the living when I didn't know I was missing. I am one of those folks who just carry on through life's trials so thanks again.
I just turned 58 and have loved this song for most of my life. I’ve always shed tears when I hear this song. Today however after I shed a little for a very beautiful rendition of this old classic, most of the tears I shed were from reading these comments. I showed this to my 87 yr old father who was a fighter pilot for USAF. Tears came to his eyes. He told me that when he flew the F-86 and F-101, he and his navigator used to sing this song when they soared above the clouds.

My Grandfather used to tell me that the Bible spoke of a song that would be so beautiful that not even the angels in heaven could sing, I have often wondered if Amazing Grace were that song. Certainly the angelic beings would need no salvation so they couldn't rightfully sing this praise to God, only mortal man. This is one of the most beautiful renditions I've ever heard.

I have heard it sung by the best through the years. I am thinking that you are the one who got it right, really right. Beautifully sung. Back in 1977 when I was 17, I saw a group of people standing in a cloud at a baby blessing. They spoke about how Jesus came here by himself and he will return. I promise you God the father and his son Jesus Christ are real.

I am 79 years old and it is January 31st 2024. I just came across this video it is one of the most beautiful renditions of this song I have ever heard in my life and God bless this young man for singing it! I pray the good Lord is good to him and that he is blessed. I hope to mert him in Heaven🎚

This was truly amazing. My dad has had cancer for about 3 months and us just about to start chemo. These days have been really hard and challenging. Today, I just wanted it all to end a give up. This song has lifted me up today and has really helped. I'm only 15 and it's been a rough ride lately. I really needed this today.
Stay strong. Dan has a lot of great music on his channel to help you feel better and uplift your spirit.
My mom was diagnosed with cancer when I was 19, so I know how rough it can be. No matter how hard life gets, the rough times and extreme grief don't last forever, even though it seems like it will and the pain seems unbearable at times. Never give up. Your life matters, and you are here for a reason. I'll keep you and your dad in my prayers.
My young friend. I'm not going to tell you about my troubles back then but 15 was a really rough year for me also. It eventually got better. Purpose is a funny thing. If the universe did not have purpose we would not know what purpose was. You have a purpose (and I'd say a good one) keep living into it.

Dan, I thank you for this and your Beyond Belief cover. I grew up with Petra. I am 43 and dying of cancer and cirrhosis. This exact version will be played at my funeral. We will worship together when we both get there.

I lost my 44-year-old from cancer from the burn pits in Iraq. I sure wish I could have played this song for him. His last days were horrible to watch and it's Amazing Grace that saved my son from the battle and the hell of his cancer. I wish I could buy your CD's, but I guess they don't exist?
