Rules should be simplified and made very clear whereby ALL head to head contact should be red carded, but may need to add review to ascertain intent and potential harm.
most ridiculous red I have seen. A yellow was harsh. Now he gets a 4 game suspension. I get head contact but really that was not what hurt the player. The idiots making these decisions have not played rugby or if they did at no real level.They will wreck careers.
I'm a big fan of Esterhuizen, but he went in too high. Clear head to head. The Portuguese player was out cold before he hit the ground. It was reckless and dangerous. His technique was all wrong. Red card for sure. No amount of wishful thinking from my side can change that fact.

Contact with the ground knocked him out, red was bc of injury and the team making the tackle. Switch the two players and it’s not even a yellow… tackling a player without the ball missed as well

I am just putting it out there, not all officials are unbiased. If you watch games there are a lot of not even 50/50 calls going totally the wrong way. I often watch games where I have no preferred team, just because I love rugby. It is very obvious that from schools through to club, regional and then international level, that some officials make calls with organs other than there brains.
The agenda of the english refs, TMO and WRU administration is questionable and it is stuffing up the game. Disparity between Andre’s tackle and O Farrel tackle on Andre is an excellent example
The problem is not necessary the ref. I was not her call and she didn't have a bad game. The TMO stopped the game and he decided on the Red Card when he used the Bunker Review. This has all been started by Rugby's new stance on "head contact". As normal, there's no common sense in the decission made and they are simply acting by the letter of the law. I believe Red Cards should only be issued when a player's actions can clearly be seen as deliberate, malicious or reckless. This tackle was none of those, it was simply a "hard tackle" and sadly the Portugal player came off 2nd best.
Clear red card. Hard to feel sympathy for the South African player. He had every opportunity to tackle low and somehow he went high. The player in possession certainly didn't dip at the last moment. No mitigation whatsoever. Red card was the correct call.
Just ask Sam Cain. Tmo is tough. Tackle too high. Looks worse than it is. André did dip. Small opposition, perhaps Portugal not condotioned to play against is. Its TMO. Thats it. Justified

How was that tackle wrong, it was under the shoulder's and both his arms around him, compare Esterheizen tackels where both arms is used and the tackle is under the shoulder to that prick Farrel that uses his shoulder with clearly no attempt in a tackle(using arms)
It does not look as if there was any head contact. Perhaps someone can talk to the players and find out. But it looks like the people who place these placements on TH-cam are just in it to stir and make a quick buck....Perhaps WR can change the rules and start playing with a round ball. Then we can change the name of the game to netball. Rugby has and will always be a hard game. If you do not want to get injured go swim....and be careful you don't dive to deep and hit your head on the bottom of the pool.
