Boks take the risk and have reaped the rewards. Good fortune has also played a role. Sour pundits try to take away their glory by crying unfair, ref bias etc, etc. Genuine fans acknowledge that luck has played a big role. Boks could very easily have lost their quarter final, just as Ireland could have won theirs and gone on to win the whole thing. I guess then the Irish would have been lauded as a breath of fresh air and the Boks would have been a mere footnote. There is no clear dominant team amongst the top 5 in World Rugby, as there was when the ABs dominated for decades, and that is great for the game!

He has only now " achieved noterioty" by raising the split issue of backs vs forwards split - and his wimpish comments have exposed his "self assumed lack of self achievement in his career"!! First season or two he was an unknown factor at provincial level. Then his "style" was figured out and to a great extent neutralized. Everyone expects him to score a try everytime he touches a ball and that puts him under a lot of pressure, leading to mistake after mistake! International level is a huge step up, you cant "bully" your way through if you are not exceptional, and even then you will be neutralized eventually The same happened to a way more physical and talented Pierre Spies! Concentrating on becoming a 6 flank is probably the only viable option

Wiese has not impressed me with all opportunities he has been given. Kwagga is an impact player. Louw is probably going to surpass them given enough chance. Hanekom's work at breakdown is probably the ultimale like for like replacement for Duane.

The biggest issue is the way they play referees not the way they play. Referees need to see past the aura and start to penalise blatant law breaking.
