Replacing the front brake pads and rotors on a 2005 MB C230
First, I did the driver-side because it does not have a brake wear sensor. Only the passenger-side has one.
Replacing the pads and sensor is basically the same procedure on each side.

Awesome video one of my top best tutorials ive witness.
This video was badass. You should be given a medal for how clear and concise it is, thank you.
Best video for this type of break calliper thanks man great job
Thank You,
Answered all my questions just by watching
I like how you handled the rotor first instead of taking everything apart first. Looks more efficient in completing the process.
thank you man!!! great video no fluff just the necessary stuff! Tech to Tech! Great to see that Daddy's girl is right there to help.
Thanks for the refresher course. BTW....Father / Daughter team ROCKS!!!!!
Great video again angel thank you for your videos

Good video. Glad to see your daughter there with you
hafa adai brotha, thank you for this.
You rock bro! Thanks for sharing the skills!! I think you forgot to video the removal of the rotor front screw. Almost took the car off jack trying to pull off rotor :) lol. Cheers man
Cool video bro!
long time no see you amigo welcome back
have you tried resurfacing drilled or slotted rotors? I have never done that before but hear some people do.
Hi angel when could you make another video for the rear brakes ? Thank you !
Excellent video. Will this procedure apply to 2005 c240 4matic wagon?
Favorite video - like that there is no talking (taking) lol thanks.
did u get your jack from amazon
Nice seeing that your working on all different types of vehicles( Japanese,German, American). Great video. Quick question, why didn't you clean off the the rust inhibitor on the rotors?
Hi David, Thank you. Are you talking about where the pads touch the rotor? If so, the pads will clean it right off while braking. Sometimes I clean it off with a die grinder but honestly my friend needed the car right away so I did not have time. Nothing wrong with the brakes when on test drive. Have a nice day.
Hi, My meredes c280 has done 78k km. Please let me do I need to replace only the brake pads or also the Rotors?
Pinoy flag yessss!
great video do you also have a video replacing the rear brakes and rotors
Thanks for the video. You didn't use any anti seize compound, any reason why?
Because real men don't use anti-seize compound :P
He used it for the caliper support bolts
👍🏻
👍👍👍
Just curious why have to replace rotor?? If just need replace brake pad ?? Only replace rotor when the brake pad metal to metal on rotor then yes replace rotor .... just curious
Angel.... just changed new brake drum on the back and new rotor on the front..... all the brake pad is new...Toyota brake pad...test drive it...still have vibration on front when I apply the brake..
Hi Efren, Do you have custom wheels?? Just asking. Make sure lug nuts are tight.
Sometimes, the new aftermarket rotor has not been resurfaced correctly from the manufacturer. It has happened to me.
no... not a custom wheels.....just a cheap drum and rotor from ebay.....thank you for your advice....I will get a new good rotor and maybe that will correct the problem...thank again.....mabuhay......
Mabuhay!!
My metal shims or the piece that the rods go over are rubbing the rotor.Any suggestions?
Craig get new ones
What if the pins don't knock out???
Most times they are seized.
Having a problem with the pins being hard to remove. They have moved maybe 1/8 inch
How u do the rear brakes
george altamirano I don’t know. I never done it.
After changing the break pads, then squeek! Please help
You probably needed to use brake cleaner and spray down the brake caliper and hub area, then use sil-glyde or some rubber safe silicone based grease/lube on back of the new brake pads and ears of the brake pads. You should have used a wire brush to clean off the area on the hub where the new rotor will sit and use some anti-seize.
Smart men use anti-seize, contrary to "Juan CarButts" useless comment, makes it easier a few years down the road to take off rotor next brake pad/rotor change.
While it is a useful video, he took the usual shortcuts to brake pad and rotor change that street mechanics and even SAE mechanics take when servicing brakes. They don't really spray brake cleaner or lube anything or use a wire brush in rust areas. You will get squeaky brakes if you do a lazy mans job.
That's why I always do my own brakes, hence, "If you want something done right and thorough, do it yourself."
There are much better videos on how to thoroughly clean and change brakes/rotors which you can use in conjunction with this video to service your own brakes.
hello
does this car have 1 piston o 2 piston caliper
joevaldezzzful 2
????
Two piston or one piston calipers
I replaced my 2007 mercedesc230 brakes pads but my brakes only carrying just one brake sensor my light still on
george altamirano check your rear brakes
Why you say : always replace the rotors. Is not possible to resurface them?
Hi, I always explain to the owner of the car. When I resurface the rotors. I shave off metal from it. The rotor will thinner from before.
When braking, the rotor gets very hot and it can warp from the high heat. The rotor will not cool down quick enough from the high heat. Here in Las Vegas it is very hot.
So I always suggest to the owner to buy new rotors. If they decide to resurface, then I tell them it may warp faster in the future and could have shaky steering wheel and brake pedal pulse. And when that happens, they will need to buy new rotors and pay me labor again to replace it. Do you understand? I’m just saving the owner of future problems and repairs.
Do i need to change the rotor too? if my brakes are bad? Or can i just change brakes?
hi, i always recommend replacing the rotors for this type of vehicle. if you don't change the rotors you may feel brake pulse and shaky steering wheel when braking. also there may be a squeal noise.
@@FixItAngel yeah I have shaky steering maybe the person who owned it replace only brakes and yes I have squeling noise as well
@@FixItAngel also is it 1 or 2 wear sensors for front??
@@LOS-ry1ly more likely 1 sensor on driver side. but i have seen 2 sensors on both sides.
@@FixItAngel well mine is 2007 Mercedes c230
Hi does this method work on a c55 amg?
Al Hogan hi yes I believe it is. I think all MB vehicles have fixed calipers.
Fix It Angel thank you for responding! With that type of calibers, do I need to uses c clamp to compress it? Or does it stay compressed?
Al Hogan yes you will need C clamps to compress the caliper piston down. If you don't do that, you cannot put the caliper back on. Welcome
Fix It Angel I thought that's what you were doing with the flat head
Al Hogan you could do that too. I thought you are more more comfortable using a c clamp
you didn't show how remove the brake pad bolts, the two straight bars that half the pads on
3:35 so did you watch the whole video? did you watch the video more than once? or did you just watch a couple seconds and figured this is not a complete repair? Brother don't assume i missed something to remove. WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO FROM BEGINNING TO END. OK?
@@FixItAngel how do you know when to stop pushing those pins in? Do they have a lip to stop?
just zayit hi yes
good
