  • I use scrap wood in the workshop to make some pens, just because I'm curious how these will turn out compared to commercial pen blanks. I also share my thoughts on some of the pen kits and try a (new to me) method of finishing the pens using CA (Super) glue

I think you’ve done a lovely job on those. An excellent use of scraps. The pens are handy gifts for friends and family.

Nice work and a great use of scrap wood. My favourite was the darker of the light wood ones, 4th down in the still picture.

Take care of your fingers using the bandsaw.. Please use some guide or stick, when so near to the blade.

Hi Simon, I'm a new subscriber. I have a similar lathe and have turned brass pens using the same slim line pen kits. I used 2 part epoxy to secure the brass tubes inside the brass I turned. Have been much admired and make a change from all the more common wooden pens.

Thanks for the sub! I'm working myself up to brass pens!

@DIYTinkerer Have a go! I find it easier than the wood (and I've got a little wood lathe).

Hi thanks for the question, I hadn't realised there was more than one type, it is "UHU Cola Universal" "The universal adhesive " madel in Germany
