Scrap Wood Challenge: Turning Pens

- I use scrap wood in the workshop to make some pens, just because I'm curious how these will turn out compared to commercial pen blanks. I also share my thoughts on some of the pen kits and try a (new to me) method of finishing the pens using CA (Super) glue

I think you’ve done a lovely job on those. An excellent use of scraps. The pens are handy gifts for friends and family.
Thanks, yes they are destined for presents or surprise gifts.
Nice video! Love the pens from scrap materials
Thanks glad you liked it 😀
They all look great, super inspiring. I love the teak one especially.
Thanks so much! 😊 they are my favourites also
Nice pens Simon,I love the teak ones but my favourite is the lighter colour with the black pattern running throughout the pen
That one is a commercial pen blank spalted beach I think,.
Great job and project thx for sharing enjoyed it Keep building Cheers
Thanks, will do!
Hi mate they look beautiful i don't have a lathe or even room for one but I like what you have done with your scrap wood, very inspiring thank you for your time in making the video
Thanks 👍I'm glad you liked it, space is always an issue regardless how large your workshop!
Nice work and a great use of scrap wood. My favourite was the darker of the light wood ones, 4th down in the still picture.
Thanks for the comment, that is a nice pen, good choice 😀
Take care of your fingers using the bandsaw.. Please use some guide or stick, when so near to the blade.
Thanks for the tip
Hi Simon, I'm a new subscriber. I have a similar lathe and have turned brass pens using the same slim line pen kits. I used 2 part epoxy to secure the brass tubes inside the brass I turned. Have been much admired and make a change from all the more common wooden pens.
Thanks for the sub! I'm working myself up to brass pens!
@DIYTinkerer Have a go! I find it easier than the wood (and I've got a little wood lathe).
Nice pens. Which Uhu Glue did you use?
Hi thanks for the question, I hadn't realised there was more than one type, it is "UHU Cola Universal" "The universal adhesive " madel in Germany
