Can I make a Ply Wood Pen or will it explode?

I try making a ply wood pen on the lathe, but will it simply disintegrate? What do you think? Leave a comment below on if you think I'll be successful or not.

I’ve made plywood pens before but I don’t cut up my plywood I use it so the grain runs along the length of the pen no blowout and an interesting ring pattern a[pears down the pen as you turn it. I don’t know whether it makes a difference that I use turning chisels so I can vary pressure to avoid blowout when turning. You can buy pre-made dyed plywood blanks in different colours that are very effective. It looks great I’d use it.
