One of the key things about battling Armstrong is that you want those quick time events to happen. Even though it’s a rush to get your sword back afterwards, you can do TONS of damage in those quick time events.
I beat him in normal by just spamming the strong attacks, which brought him down to 150%, the QuickTime event afterward brought him down 20% each time, and the full strong attack combo dealt 30%. Repeat this until he reaches 0.1%, then kill.
The game was made so that the boss fights would sync to the music so when the boss did a QTE the song would skip to a section of the song that would fit and the climax would play when you finished off the boss fight.
If you think about it, Raiden could only damage Armstrong because he can't cover his whole body with nanomachines(son), so they kinda have to travel around , if he had more, he would probably be invincible.

You know, something always bothered me about what he says regarding the Nanomachines, that they harden IN RESPONSE to physical trauma... That would mean that they harden AFTER you get hurt, which would mean he'd have a number of broken bones. However, what I think he means is that they have a sort of predictive sense connected to the brain and eyes, which react to danger by doing... Well, the whole hardening thing.
For anyone struggling to no damage the fist fight section, bare in mind you can make a backup copy of your save just as you hit the checkpoint. Go to Title, then from the Saves menu press Copy on your file, and copy it in Slot 2. Should you fail to no damage that section, simply select Title again, then hover over your backup copy, and copy it in Slot 1. Doing this allows you to retry that part even if you get hit and the game checkpoints you.
I mean, like people said, not only does it not affect the ranking, but you watched the video, right? He doesn’t get hit. He obviously is skilled enough, the extra damage is just speeding up the process.
@@WanderSeth The shorter a fight, the less opportunities there are to make mistakes. It's far easier to no-hit a boss with maxed damage, infinite energy, and unlocked skills than without them.

its definitely way easier in revengence. I struggled alot in hard but in revengeance due to the parry damage boost you can just parry when he tries to yeet your sword to do 100+% damage with one qte. And then you just chain the throwing sections

Raiden lacks taunting. Imagine in 2 phase dodge every attack, while taunting Armstrong, because he is so slow. His moveset pretty simple: right hook, left hook, straight kick, then straight punch. He can throw a single uppercut sometimes.

This boss is absolutely fantastic. It's a feat of a spectacle that they made such a grounded fight scene featuring only two characters feel so *big.* It's kind of a shame that this boss's reputation has been drowned in meme culture.
My biggest difficulty with the Armstrong fight literally wasn’t anything except for the weapon with section because Armstrong kept killing me over and over I didn’t realize it was literally just got to survive for that part

well keyboard is easier for parrying (at least for me) but Schwing is right it's extremely annoying if your stunned because then you'll have to press the WASD keys as if spinning the movement stick on controller Edit: Spelling mistake, fixed "Becaude"
