Raiden is his reflection of "who he was." If whatever happens next, If Sam lives, he lives losing his identity, If Raiden wins, he fights for what he believes in
I've never understood how Sam functions so similarly to Raiden. He can activate zandatsu, and he absorbs electrolytes from other cyborgs, even though only Raiden can do such a thing.
The thing that differentiated Sam And Raiden's use of the Murosama is that Sam focused more on a burst Heavy/powerful attack to cut down his opponent in one blow , also Sam can pick up on small details like he did here when he saw Armstrongs nanomites took time to reach his entire body and the time he seen Raiden relying on his eyegear dying there first fight, but the thing about Raiden instead of doing one powerful blow, he focuses on a flurry of attacks on a single point so the blade will weaken the molecular bonds and Raiden learns when loses or the fight is drawn out.
It could be taken as symbolic of Sam's predicament; he can't refuse the job. He doesn't want to help Armstrong, but he'll die if he refuses. He can't really do anything, much like how he can't really do anything when Armstrong offers his handshake.
Sam and Armstrong both lost an arm. When Armstrong got his back, he offered Sam up with the sam arm. The issue was Sam’s was still, you know, completely fucked
The game does that on purpose! When you initiate the kill, it skips to the right part of the music to give you an epic moment. (At least, it does for Raiden, I think it does here too?)
Honestly playing the Sam DLC was more fun than the actual game. They should make a spin -off game entirely based on Sam. I would be so down for that. He was just so much more fun to play as, both his character and his moveset.
Remember when you guys watch Raiden Vs Vamp and then said "They should Make a spin off game entirely based on Raiden" and thats where Metal gear Rising Revengeance was made
Fact: Sam's dash is actually silent compared to how ninjas have stealth. Ninja run on the other hand isn't silent and this is why I got stuck on R0-08 because I thought I could run past them with the desperado body (50% camo to desperado units).
Looks like Armstrong's nanomachine ability costs millions of dollars in machines. Oh well if you have enough money to turn everyone into a cyborg then why not.

How to bring Sam back: Someone finds a dead guy in the desert, takes him to a hospital where they revive him, but brain damage for being dead for half a day takes him on a quest to regain his memory & find out who he is.
I just realized something messed up. So Sam's got little to no cyborg enhancements. Also all his counters are kicks. So is he a good kicker since he's Brazillian. Soccer?
+Rayquaza Lv.100 I think it's capoeira. It focuses on kicks and is from Brazil, he also uses judo throws when disarmed. Sam barely had any augments, only ones were his right arm after the fight with Senator and his exoskeleton suit like Solidus had in MGS2 that only enchanced his abilities.
+Rayquaza Lv.100 his lore said he is actually japanese. Born in brazil, with a south american name, but he descends from a samurai family that exists since the 16th century japan. They fled for brazil after WW2 or something, and his father founded a new samurai school there. So yeah, probably... jujitsu with some cultural stuff from brazil... well you know, brazilian jujitsu xD It was invented in early 20th century, so maybe the game is telling us his father did or something like that

But Sam fought the "final boss" of "his game" and lost. It's an interesting concept, especially for a Platinum Stylish Action game.
I think the fight with Raiden should’ve convinced him to fight Armstrong. I think it would’ve made more sense for Sam and Raiden to fight Armstrong together- he’s just too strong for either of them individually.
@@dogestranding5047 Sam genuinely believes in Armstrong’s cause tho.He doesn’t just join because he got his arm cut off. Armstrong claims he’ll build a world where everyone can fight for themselves instead of being oppressed by the war machine. Fun deep cut, but it's not nearly as precise as that big moment. You have all the time between attacks to throw out another parry and aren't punished for mashing the parry input, so it really is just a matter of tapping forward and mashing light attack without caring much for timing.
@@GameIsMyOxygen disagree, parrying is not "super easy". It takes some time to learn parrying multiple attacks, remember others are not like you who considers it easy

Another interesting thing about his character is that his sword, Murasama, was actually the Muramasa in Japanese, but his family mistook the name. Apparently the devs included this because they love moments where small things are misunderstood about Japanese culture by others.
@@milkwater1204 @Milkwater his sword name is a mix between Muramasa and Murasame. Don't spread missinformation, the developers were japanese as well as Sam's ancestors, they wouldn't "missunderstand Japanese culture" because it's their own.

To this day, this game and it's DLC are amazing, I wish they do more with this type of metal gear in the future, even if its just a simple remaster with a few extras like outfits or bonus footage

45:39 I like how Armstrong actually felt some dmg from Sams Cut even though the Nanomachines harden him.
I think he is acting
I've never understood how Sam functions so similarly to Raiden. He can activate zandatsu, and he absorbs electrolytes from other cyborgs, even though only Raiden can do such a thing.
John Perry Sam is only human. he just uses an armor suit.
YoungPhenix Yes I know that. I'm just wondering how he does this shit if he isn't a cyborg.
Jale The Village Troublemaker Now that you that you mention it, this is put in a whole new perspective. This changes everything!!
So he was a human in the beginning...and he became a cyborg like Raiden after?
Kenshi Takahashi No, he just got a fancy arm replacement.
I love how nearly the entirety of Armstrong and Monsoon’s opening conversation is just Armstrong calling Johnson a giant weeb.

Armstrong offers to shake Sam's incapacitated arm. I feel as if there's a point there, besides them laughing about it.
It could be taken as symbolic of Sam's predicament; he can't refuse the job. He doesn't want to help Armstrong, but he'll die if he refuses. He can't really do anything, much like how he can't really do anything when Armstrong offers his handshake.

Just realizing it now...oh my god it's perfectly in tune.
The game does that on purpose! When you initiate the kill, it skips to the right part of the music to give you an epic moment. (At least, it does for Raiden, I think it does here too?)

So... Memories broken?
I just realized something messed up. So Sam's got little to no cyborg enhancements. Also all his counters are kicks. So is he a good kicker since he's Brazillian. Soccer?
+Rayquaza Lv.100
I think it's capoeira. It focuses on kicks and is from Brazil, he also uses judo throws when disarmed. Sam barely had any augments, only ones were his right arm after the fight with Senator and his exoskeleton suit like Solidus had in MGS2 that only enchanced his abilities.
tru
+Rayquaza Lv.100 his lore said he is actually japanese. Born in brazil, with a south american name, but he descends from a samurai family that exists since the 16th century japan. They fled for brazil after WW2 or something, and his father founded a new samurai school there. So yeah, probably... jujitsu with some cultural stuff from brazil... well you know, brazilian jujitsu xD It was invented in early 20th century, so maybe the game is telling us his father did or something like that
+Enidehalas his dad was the owner of a dojo teaching brazilian kenjutsu swords for those not versed in japanese and the satsujinken path for that matter/murdering sword they had a variation of a real style in japan thats over 400 years old and then one day a student killed his dad sam went to train around the world came back to brazil to kill the student and left brazil for good that the gist of it he know some judo mostly jujitsu and several other martial arts learned while travelling

When ya actually think about it, Jetstream Sam is basically what happens when the "Platinum Main Protagonist" legit "fails" their game. He had the attitude, the mode of transportation, an ideal, a Platinum Mechanic, Iconic Weapon and even that strange heart to heart talk that sometimes happens.
Imo Sam does have doubts tho, which is why he leaves it up to a duel between him and Raiden. He wants to know if he made the right choice by seeing whose conviction is stronger.

Armstrong lends his hand to shake Sam (of course Sam can't, but that's out of the point), and it is still hardened, wich means, his whole right pectoral to his hand was still hurting when he pieced it back together
You can say he can harden on command, but the head canon that Sam's cut still hurts him for a while is better to me.

9:40 dude did you just daigo parried that enemy's attack?!
What you just have seen?
Fun deep cut, but it's not nearly as precise as that big moment. You have all the time between attacks to throw out another parry and aren't punished for mashing the parry input, so it really is just a matter of tapping forward and mashing light attack without caring much for timing.
He was playing sekiro before sekiro
You either played the whole game without parry, or never played the game. Cause parrying is super easy in this game.
@@GameIsMyOxygen disagree, parrying is not "super easy". It takes some time to learn parrying multiple attacks, remember others are not like you who considers it easy
The fact that Raiden uses the same Voiceline as Sam the time he has the fight with Armstrong (using the same sword) is a pretty neat touch
I love this playthrough. Always picks me when I'm having a shitty day.
Even though Armstrong knows muramasa can hurt him, and raiden kills sam, Armstrong still underestimate raiden WITH muramasa. And in this fight, Armstrong goes full power, even though it's just an interview for sam.

Shit! It took me all those years to learn that Jetstream Sam is Brazilian! And his other name is "Minuano", from my country's region! Love this game even more now :D
Another interesting thing about his character is that his sword, Murasama, was actually the Muramasa in Japanese, but his family mistook the name. Apparently the devs included this because they love moments where small things are misunderstood about Japanese culture by others.
Milkwater interesting
@@milkwater1204 @Milkwater his sword name is a mix between Muramasa and Murasame. Don't spread missinformation, the developers were japanese as well as Sam's ancestors, they wouldn't "missunderstand Japanese culture" because it's their own.
@@shodore You seem to have misunderstood my point. The sword is misnamed because the Rodriguez family misinterpreted it in the lore. The devs added this because they find instances of cultural misunderstanding amusing.
Really love the concept / design of this game.
This video game has a lot of philosophy and the perspective of Sam in this case it’s very interesting, it’s a shame that he and Raiden couldn’t get along and that in the end he died it would have been cool that a whole video game was done with him as a protagonist, really cool your tutorial my friend you play as a master, Saludos desde México

If the blue bike is Sam's. Then maybe he wanted Raiden to succeed and kill him. If not, the developers just got lazy and used the same bike.

17:31 I love how that synced so well
I had problems with Wolf first time I played this game on my PC and you go and obliterate him in less than a minute, you absolute BEAST
I know that Jetstream Sam is based on Heishiro Mitsurugi from Soul Calibur, it's also interesting to note that Sam's Murasama resembles Mitsurugi's Oniyukiyasu from Soul Calibur 4 for the fact that they are katanas that have red blades on them.

-be able to play Raiden’s campaign as Sam or Wolfie
-add a boss fight AGAINST Raiden when playing as Sam in mission 6, or Wolfie in mission 1

-Rose codec calls

Man, I got this far in his story without knowing you could dodge
I know it'll never happen, but I would love to play as Armstrong in some sort of prequel or DLC - although there would be significantly less slicing and dicing which was one of the selling points of the game.
