I'm finishing my last semester of hygiene school, and I love recommending the Platypus flosser and Water Pik! When I had braces as a child, I really didn't floss, nor was I taught the proper techniques. It really is important to educate, and you are doing a great job!
Do you recommend using the platypus after eating outside then using the waterpik at night to floss fully then using a proxybrush to brush the sides of the brackets and the arch wire?

@@eyanaashley I really like any of the current Sonicare toothbrushes that are on the market! Oral B is a good brand too, it really depends on the person's preference. WaterPik should be used in addition to string flossing, not to replace it.
Thanks so much! My daughter (8 yo) has been struggling with flossing in between her four brackets and under the wire. I didn't know so many products existed! We'll be watching this together in the morning. I also told her there was no TH-cam when I had braces (jaw drop). Right? Ha! This would have been sooooo helpful 20 years ago.

I've had my braces for a week, however, there are two brackets on my lower teeth, which are so close together, I can't floss there without potentially damaging one or both brackets. My teeth are also very tight together and even the thinnest floss won't fit through. I was a daily flosser before this and never had a problem. Do you have any ideas? I dont really use the threader, it takes too much time for me lol. I jus use the regular floss like the super floss. I love the proxabrushes tho. They r heaven.
Best to floss before you brush at night. This way the interproximal areas between your teeth have less plaque and remaining food debris when you brush with fluoride toothpaste. The flouride can thus more effectively cover the areas of your teeth where they are in contact with adjacent teeth. :)

Oh man! Thank you thank you thank you!!! I had brackets put on my very back molars recently and I have a TINY mouth. I use a waterpik and superfloss and it’s been extremely difficult to thread the floss through way back in my mouth. The platypus flossers are going to make it so much easier for me! I just ordered them and I’m counting down the amount of times I need to floss before I get them! Lol
I used to use the little threader thing and it took forever to floss and when i went to the dentist they gave me these floss sticks like the platypus flossers and now it doesn’t take nearly as long😁😁

I know there's some controversy surrounding them as the relative simplicity of them means just regular dentists can perform them which a lot of orthos think undermines their specialty. Really curious to see what you think.
Id love to do a video on it - Im not concerned about it undermining our specialty but rather it delivering inadequate results which can have long term side effects. I'll probably get to that once I get through some more traditional content though to be honest =]
After a dentist appointment the teeth get sore for the next few days right, my question is can I skip flossing for those few days since it hurts and they’re really sensitive and wait till the pain goes away so I can floss comfortably???

Oh man, that’s a struggle! I had 12 baby teeth removed when I was 14 and it took a year and a half for all the adult teeth to finally come in (my upper canines were so slow, we had to eventually laser the gums to get em down). Talk about patience...it’s worth it though!! I should be getting these braces off later in the year, best of luck to you too!
I used the Playpus flosser for a while because I would never wanna floss. But now I have a expander and Tongue crib at the same time so I can’t use it on my top row. Flossing takes forever I need to invest in a water flosser because I do floss all the time either I forget or it just takes forever

Hi, I've had braces for over a year now. I had a single lower incisor removed as my bottom teeth were crowded. I don't think they were that crowded personally. My teeth were quite straight to begin with. I still have gaps at the bottom and I am afraid that having no midline and having just three teeth at the bottom will make me look abnormal. It's really making me depressed as my smile is very important. May seem trivial, but I've not come across anyone with just three bottom teeth.
I know this question is unrelated to this video but is getting premolars pulled bad because I have to get my front 4 pulled for braces and let’s just say I’m not pleased with the thought of it because I thought I would be older than 11 when i was gonna have it done.
That's a really hard / impossible question for me to answer online. The orthodontist you went to is 100x more familiar with your case because he/she examined your mouth and generated a plan based on what they saw
Its definitely never too late to start flossing but you may also need a good cleaning from your dentist who can remove some of the plaque that may have hardened under the gums!

I show it to my orthodontist and she told me if I don’t floss then it’ll get worst since I have my power chains (I just got power chains) what does this mean please? Also how do I get the puffy gum gone ?
Obviously I did not see your mouth but generally speaking, flossing will really help the puffiness go down because it will remove the bacteria thats irritating your gums, making them puffy

with flossing u forgot about cheeks mine are really chubby and impossible to floss my back teeth

Its not uncommon and generally you dont notice that there are only 3 lower teeth =]

I hate the super floss. I find the fabric its made with gets caught between the teeth easily and old cant get caught on brackets
