I have had 3 root canals my whole life, one of which lead to an extraction(no crown). A lot of fillings and 2 crowns. Best advice? Brush floss and rinse on top of regular cleanings at the dentist 😅

Same, sort of. I have/had an open bite from a tongue thrust. 2years into Spark aligners and many elastics and refinements, plus a year of physical therapy to correct my tongue thrust. I’m on my last week of trays! Next week I see my orthodontist to get my over correction trays and finishing elastics. I can finally bite through food without having to use the sides of my mouth - at 42 years old and almost $10k later. You better believe I’ll be wearing my retainer every night.
I never wore my retainer. I had difficulty wearing it due to my Hawley retainer making me gag all the time. When we did the clear retainer, it just seemed to accumulate a lot of saliva, and I couldn't handle that either. I've had my braces off for about 8 years, and my teeth hardly moved at all.
that saliva is actually a good thing, without it the teeth would be more at risk of decay wearing those every night. But I'm glad your teeth didn't shift :) lucky
My dentist never had me wear rubber bands for some reason. I had a removable herbst-style retainer and then eventually the full on permanent herbst retainer But even that didnt fix my jaw issues, so when I was 17 I had surgery to move both my upper and lower jaw forward
I'm one year out of Invisalign and I can truly say that I am happy with my smile. It did not help with the tartar that would only build up on my lower teeth which is why I originally did it.
Not gonna lie I love braces😭 it’s annoying sometimes and those rubber bands and power chains will have you reevaluating your life choices but they’re so cute!!
I only WISH my mom had gotten them for me when I was a teenager! I honestly believe I wouldn’t have the dental issues I have now if I’d gotten all my teeth straightened & spaced where they should be! I guess I should have just gotten them myself when I was 18 & had my own insurance, but tbh I didn’t know it was even a thing for ‘adults’ to have them! (That was back in 2001.. lol) Both of my teenage daughters have had braces. My youngest had her first round of them when she in 2nd grade to correct a severe crossbite. (*Parents: pull your kid’s loose teeth to avoid this happening!) She’s 13 now & will have to get a second & final round of them soon to straighten them. My oldest just got her braces 1.5 years ago & the inside of her lips looked like they were all cut up! They had the white skin all over the inside that was actually cut from her brackets & hooks. It only lasted a few days & then it was fine, once she was able to get used to it, but her first week was rough! She pretty much had to “relearn” how to play her brass instruments as well due to the way her mouth/lips had changed from the braces.
I used to be able to fit half my thumb behind my upper and lower bit when my teeth were closed. My orthodontist did me dirty though by only putting braces on my upper jaw. I didn't know better. Later on he was on the news for doing treatment he wasn't qualified to do as he was only a dentist. He wreacked my teeth and left me with permanent damage. I was 33.
You know what’s embarrassing,being an adult or big kid and crying at orthodontics but you know u can’t back down because ur parents are paying way too much money for it and then the orthodontist starts roasting u like bro,big deal kid or adult is crying because ur jerking there teeth,and weavin metal with them

I had terrible teeth so had to get braces as a kid with pallet expander and nighttime headgear. Well, my mom made me miss my appointments 5 times in a row and so the orthodontist basically said they wouldn't work on me anymore, and I had them removed 1 year premature, and was not given a retainer. This was over 15 years ago and my teeth look "pretty good" now today, I'm sure they went back somewhat, but they aren't even close to the monstrosity they used to be. I've been thinking of getting braces again recently or maybe invisilign because I'm not happy with my slight overbite that was never corrected, and it wouldn't hurt to fix any malocclusions that still exist in my mouth. My dentist says I don't need them, but I still kind of want them.

Yo I got braces and don’t be scared of the mould at all I wasn’t even aware what they doing and literally 0 harm and for the food, eating chewy and crunchy food doesn’t hurt at all it just has a chance to break your brackets, everything will hurt for the first couple days though

Oops ….. my top retainer wasn’t molded properly and my bottom was way too small . They wanted my parents to pay more for me to have it all remolded again…. Nope I’m good

I would love them AGAIN on my upper arch (3rd times a charm!!!)...I had the original Transcend brackets back in 1988 upper and lower AND the Edward's Technique/CSF in 1990..BUT, in 1991 my double 3rd molars decided to make an attempt to force their presence on my upper arch and send me back to square one although not as severe so I had the upper done again for a year back in 1995-1996 and today I want the upper done yet AGAIN at 53
No member of the medical profession can ever force a patient to wear anything they don't want to including a Herbst Appliance! In England, the patient needs to consent to every treatment stage; if the orthodontist fitted an appliance without said consent, he / she would be "struck off" i.e. unable to practice and could also be sued. When will the medical profession accept that they are in the employ of patients and must do as the patient instructs?!
I literally got my braces on today, I know I will get used to them but when I sat up to look at myself in the mirror I almost started crying. Just a fair warning to anyone getting braces in the future, you don't look bad, you will get used to it. I am only a few hours in and I already feel more comfortable in them!
The herbst is really not that bad. You just got to get used to it. You can also yawn without breaking it. Also they don’t just use them for people, who don’t wear rubber bands. They can also be used for people who have a severe overbite.
This is the first time I've saw your content and I need to ask you a question. Im currently having my teeth removed not all of them but a good majority of them. See when a dentist takes the xray and see you have abscesses on a few of the roots of the teeth should they A- just pull them regardless or B- give you Antibiotics to get rid then pull. My dentist has been pulling my teeth regaurdless which is causing swelling right up to my eye and i was in severe pain for more than a week n half. I do have another tooth to get extracted that has an abscess on the root and I'm not sure do I let her pull it or get the biotics first (that I haven't ever been offered). Bentist can you qnswer my question because I'm unsure if my dentist just wants to butcher me.😱😱

Out of topic but i got a hawley retainer on the top and braces on the bottom today. The hawley retainer is soo annoying i got to sleep with it on. The 2 bottom teeth in my mouth have already started moving. I am soo happy bc 1 of the bottom tooth was behing the 2nd bottom tooth and its already straight it hasnt even been a day yet. If you wear brace wear the retainer, relapse is not good for your teeth, your teeth can get shortened and might not be able to remain in a stable position

I had a terrible overbite, so my front lower teeth were bent inward. And my brackets fell off when I ate sweet pepper, and once when I was asleep. My ortho told me it's fine, the angle is so sharp, we can't do anything... It was teeth' fault
Tip: after coming from the dentist like have your teeth drilled and stuff eat some or get some ICECREAM it kinda helps bc Ice cream is cold sooo hope this helps!❤😊
OK PEOPLE WITH BRACES, READ THIS COMMENT AND TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. so I’ve had braces before, and when I tried to use the wax, it didn’t really work. It just kept falling off and getting stuck in my mouth and it was really annoying so basically instead of putting wax on if the wax doesn’t work for you if it does then great but if it doesn’t, then go buy some OrthoDots, they worked for me and they helped it have pain-free. It really works. I swear so take this comment seriously 😊

for me, I need to get braces soon. but I REALLY dont want them! and its not because I know its gonna hurt, or the tightening, or the after retainer no no no im not concerned about that. nor am i worried about how they will look on me! the reason is because I rather not change my smile, I love the way I smile and how it looks and I really dont wanna give that up. also I absolutely hate metal being in my mouth because of a certain experience of swallowing something so!

you bite down and they scan around your head. I've never had to use a mold

I got braces when I was 22 and didn’t get them taken off until I was 26. It was a long journey but worth it to have some of my overbite lessen.

If you want braces, no you do not wait until get them tightened it hurts worse than getting a shot.
