Your content is authentic and even if some one steals it … they can never be YOU. So people who stole your content should stop doing it . You are doing a great job and inspiring young copywriters….❤️
Thank you for bringing attention to this problem. Plagiarism and stealing content is a huge problem in the internet. I don't want to post things exactly because of this issue. 😔
Fantastic video Alex. Honestly, I sometimes wonder why people feel the need to plagiarize someone else's work. Like seriously, if they inspired your creation, the least you could do is acknowledge them... It's really not that difficult. I really wish we can all do better. 🙏
oh 1 more thing, Alex -- so often this stuff comes down to having the right legal tools in place, too. (Not so much when it comes to IG, because that's controlled by IG's terms and policies, which should protect you as the original creator of this content.) But when people steal things from our courses, memberships, or even our own websites -- it's more about making sure we have the right contracts and policies in place AND registering what I call our "bread & butter" pieces of content/assets (ie course or business names) so we can have a legal right to pursue it. Thank you so much for doing this video on such an important topic! xo- Sam
Thanks so much for this. I can easily explain this concept to my university students, but have had less success with folks in an online community I'm in, and this expresses things in a much more approachable (and relatable) way than I could. Kudos!
In the worst of fit, the person who uses creative inspiration, happens to get the blame at nothing. You know….opinions are opinions, but truth has its way.
I've worked with copywriters who think stealing someone's work (by only rephrasing a few sentences is not stealing, because, hey! Copyscape passed it, right? WRONG!!!) I know how irksome it is to find a hundred different content on the internet all sounding the same. I mean think about it, when you go online to research a topic, doesn't it make you cringe looking at all these copies that look and sound the same? Enter SEO copywriting. Correction, misguided folks trying their hand at SEO copywriting. A lot of people in dire need of work agree to take on multiple projects, way above their bandwidth and because they have no creative juices left to write original copy, they type out "inspired" copy and mindlessly add trending keywords and let the SEO folks deal with the rest. Well, Google has become smart and it's time copywriters do too. So, if you find yourself guilty of doing this, please stop plagiarising right away. And trust me, you'll become a much better writer once you decide to stop hackwork copywriting.
Come to Brazil, Alex. Some people need to learn from you. My first plagiarism class was back in 2008, I think. When I shifted from academic to blogger, it was hard. But for images, I use either Pexels or Wiki Creative Commons, always. CC says it's allowed if not for commercial purposes, and derivatives are okay. In music, though... it's not even the plagiarism, it's the trouble of registering.
Thks a lot. The vid was awesomely helpful 🔥 Now knowing the difference between inspiration & plagiarism, I think I need to work a bit more on my blog post which I just finished 😀😁
Ok, I’m genuinely asking because I don’t know/understand. If I for instance. Wrote a play or book based on the song “don’t worry be happy” by Bobby McFerrin. And I used the ideas, like paying rent late, and going to court, “ lawyer litigation” and I reworded It. And maybe the only thing I reuse is “don’t fret darling, be happy, or find joy” can I do that? ( probably not) But then Can I make a statement “ this book/ play is inspired by Bobby Mcferrin’s don’t worry be happy” Do I need to at that point contact the artist? Or can I just make mention and go ahead?
Because that song is most likely copyrighted, you cannot directly use it at all unless you first get legal permission. You can certainly take inspiration from the lyrics and message, but you would need to alter it in your own way. At least that's my opinion on the matter. I'm definitely not a lawyer though, so I would recommend asking a professional! Good luck :)
Is it any wonder as to why google doesn't pull video's that teaches how to steal images, video's, content, music and other, with alot of comments thanking them
Why would they do that? Growing an audience or faking that the content is theirs won't make them smarter. I mean, on the contrary, they are treating their followers as fools lying into their faces. They hinder the relationships that can be built in the SOCIAL media... Needless to say, I'm angry to see that this is still happening. Thank you for bringing the topic to the table.
Those copycats are absolutely disgusting. I usually like to copy headline formulas or the structure of a landing page, or even a lead magnet idea, but it's the idea, formula or structure, never the same exact same thing per se, and it's usually across industries. For example, I grabbed a few ideas from Smart Marketer: them: "copy the formula that a top social media manager uses to drive growth for a 40 million/year brand" Me: "copy the step-by-step formula that a top specialized translator uses to translate complex technical terminology... accurately!" Lead magnet idea: Them: ICOSA framework (graphic concept is a flywheel) Me: MBMSFY framework (graphic concept is also a flywheel, but I designed my own and Im in a completely different industry) Sometimes I also copy the structure of a landing page, but just the structure (headline, subheadline on the left and image on the right. Section below, 4 blurbs explaining main features/benefits, etc.) I think where the line got blurry to me a couple of years ago where I was writing for a fishing blog, but I didnt know about the topic, so that was a gray area for me. But my approach was at least being open that some information was taken from X,Y or Z sources and I would cite them at the end of the blog. If the info was taken from youtube videos, I would embed those vids on the blog. And in fact, google loves when you cite other sources.

YES! So glad you talked about this, Alex-- I help online creators and coaches learn how to legally protect their content! :)
This channel is a blessing for me. For real. Loved the content.
Thanks so much for watching!

I hope so too - thanks for watching!
Excellent and much needed!! On behalf of every writing teacher on the planet, "THANK YOU!!!"

Great video. In addition to a dope email subject line 🔥
SUCH an important conversation to be having. 🙌
The person could have given credit to You . That would have been a better way to prove that they appreciate your work 😩❤️
Hey, Alex, could you please make a video on a day in your life as a copywriter and you tuber?
It would really mean a lot.😀

Lol It's like the "can i copy your homework" meme 😂😂

Oh wow!
Thanks for giving examples. Most people don't they just talk.
Happy to help!

Awesome! I'm glad it was helpful :)
How do people even feel good about themselves stealing other peoples work ? 🤦🏾♂️
Plagiarism is infuriating. Also, I've seen that media group. Shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s the difference. Inspiration or plagiarism. Special thanks 🙏 to Alex Cattoni

I agree! Doesn't make sense to me at all - thanks for watching!

Thanks for dropping some personal examples!
Oh no. this is extremely painful and annoying 💔
Hi Alex,
What can I do to improve vocabulary in my emails ? Is it the same as in casual texts( I mean outside of copywriting)
Use tools like hemingway editor and grammarly to help you identify where improvements can be made :)
I. WOULD. BE. FURIOUS. PERIOD.
Hello Alex,
Is 77% deliverability enough (to inbox) ? Can I send the email to the client ?
How meta would it be if they copied this? Edited to add - and not cool either!
Isn’t that writing 101 lol, always cite your work if you use someone else’s words 🤦🏾♀️
Wow just wow. Can they still sleep at night knowing they're living a lie? Oh gosh.
Alex, those people just copy & pasting lol common sense is not so common ;)
Research Vid IQ video call, Every you need to know about getting copyright claim..new released ,Alex choosing utuber
So why not name and shame the thieves, so they don't repeat their blatant thievery.?
Because I've already dealt with them directly (and reported them as necessary). I don't think public shaming is the answer to the larger problem here.
@@AlexCattoni Hello. You can see trough one of the "blurs" at 6:00.
I thought you were going to teach something. TOTALLY TIME WASTING VIDEO!
