Community Cleanup Champion: Transforming an overgrown yard into a Safe and Welcoming Space!

- Located just outside the heart of downtown Columbia, South Carolina, this property caught my attention on a day when I was actively seeking opportunities to lend a helping hand and restore neglected overgrown yards. It was in dire need of a complete transformation and clean up!
Nestled on a corner lot, the front of the property had years of fallen leaves, tightly compacted and full of thick thorny plants. Among the foliage, an assortment of sticks, bushes, and various debris added to the unkempt appearance. The garage, full of broken glass, leaves, and discarded trash, was similar to the front.
Venturing into the backyard, I discovered a miniature pine forest that had taken root and flourished, untouched by a mower for at least five years, if not more. The roof, burdened with a thick layer of leaves, seemed to have holes and missing shingles.
A letter from the city caught my eye. I attempted to contact the owner, but no such luck. Conversations with the neighboring residents revealed - the owner had moved years ago, leaving the property to fend for itself. They had relocated to another state, allowing it to fall into disrepair.
Disturbingly, the house had become a target for vandals, drawn by its abandoned state. Acts of vandalism and trespassing would happen at night. Squatters had also taken up residence, leaving behind evidence of their presence in the form of drug paraphernalia and discarded needles.
For three weeks, I worked for a couple hours each day. The gratitude expressed by the local community was overwhelming, with numerous individuals taking the time to express their heartfelt appreciation. Even representatives from the Homeowners Association stopped by, recognizing the positive impact our efforts were having on the neighborhood.
I succeeded in transforming this once-neglected space into a safer and cleaner environment. The ripple effect of my actions extended far beyond the boundaries of the property itself, impacting the entire neighborhood in a positive way. As we embrace the dawn of a new year, I am filled with a sense of optimism and anticipation. The year 2024 holds the promise of being our best yet, as we continue to make a difference, one restored property at a time. Happy New Year! - บันเทิง

Maybe the neighbors could get together and board the place up or call the City and ask them to. It would help keep the vandals out and keep the house from deteriorating so quickly. It's a great thing you do for people. Keep up the great work.

You really dedicated a lot of time and effort in this property. It's amazing how much better it looks. Maybe the HOA will at least board up the broken windows and doors. I was nervous for you being on the wet and slippery roof. It does look nice without all the leaves. I hope you have a wonderful New Year! Keep doing what you do!
Yeah it was a very flat roof. I have lots of experience cleaning gutter and blowing off roofs. Definitely safety first

Raining n soaked you re still working on this property. Hard working man. I too have finished my yard in the rain n in the darkness, I cranked my car up, positioned it n used the brights to see what I was doing. Neighbors thought maybe was crazy. Nah, just getting it handled n done. Look at my yard n theirs. 😉

This was an epic outdoor property transformation. I don't think the video was too long at all. There was a lot to do on this property that was obviously loved and cared for at one time long ago. It was poignant to see the family's individual possessions just left behind. It would be wonderful if this home could be restored to its former hominess, and someone could have a lovely dwelling once again.

Great transformation. When I see these abandoned and vandalized homes, I’m not sure why neighbors don’t board up at least the patio sliding door. If vandals or squatters get in there and start a fire…their houses could go up too.
An all brick house has good bones. A good foundation no matter the inside. This property could be renovated without too much work. 😉

WOW WOW WOW .... What a result ! What I do is when I leave a property after Ive finished and the owners are away I leave Solar lights outside or battery lights. You know the Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett ? she bought a huge mansion which was left derelict and everything inside and completely restored it. I love seeing a property back to life ...... I was hoping you had some help on this one. It was a major undertaking. It turned out so good. Thank you. Probably a bank owned foreclosure. Banks are notorious for leaving nice homes go to ruin then wanting premium price for them. You are right, with so many people looking for homes, this is sad. Nice home. Nice neighborhood.
