"A new estate model is not the reason for the 40% discount dealers are flocking their stock at. Private buyers, people putting their own money or taking out their own hideous lease deals don’t want EVs anymore. Company car buyers and fleets that the government is pushing into choosing EVs by penalising ICE cars will not choose an MG.
EVs are an inconvenience. Without having your home charging, you are exposed to silly prices of around 60-80p per kWh. Poorer people who want a budget EV want cheap charging and don’t always own their own house or have a front drive. They don’t want to lose five figure sums in a year in depreciation. They don’t wan5 to spend half their free time at retail parks and charging stations, sipping overpriced coffee to do the same they used to quickly do on their way somewhere.
It’s just flocking a dead horse."
