I just made this for a pineapple cake that I'm making later today. I just want to say that instead of the canned pineapple, I crushed a fresh one in the blender. It is absolutely delicious! I will never use the store bought one again. Muchisimas gracias Edna.

I will be working on more fillings for cakes. Slow but surely. It gets a bit expensive to film all this..lol But I already taped another one that needs to be edited.
I would say 2 weeks but since it has not dairy and it's done with can fruit I would say probably even longer. But I never tested that since it does before week one! lol
Thank you for the reply! I meant just the left over filling by itself :) I don't see why you couldn't though... Would it keep long in the fridge...in a container by itself?
+Edna De la Cruz thanks so much I've made it before but left that cake in the fridge so I was unsure , thank u so much for this recipe it's amazing and my go to 👍👍👍😍😍😍
In my channel I have a recipe for strawberries in syrup. If you cook them for a longer period they will thicken and become a jam. If you want them thicker, you can add some cornstarch.
Maybe a longer process and probably by letting the pinneapple soak in sugar overnight. I need to do it to make sure of sugar a,amounts and process of cooking so I can tell you better. I do a lot of stuff with no measurements and for public I need to sit down and get the measurements right before I post it.
How do u adjust the recipe to fit a smaller can of crushed pineapple, like a 15 oz can? im making a smaller cake so i dont need as much filling but have only seen this filling recipe for 20oz cans. Any help would be great.
+PjSparkle08 The big can will become a lot less once is cooked. It will fill a small cake. I have never measured but it comes to be around a cup of pineapple filling.
Yes, you over cooked it. I haven't timed it but I am gonna say that the whole process takes around 10 minutes. That might change depending on your stove. Jam takes around 35 minutes but this is not a jam. You can try to fix it by adding some simple syrup and heating it until it's mixed and the consistency you like. Always keep in mind that it will thicken up once is cooled down. So it you see it too thick as you are cooking it, then it already has been cooked for too long.
I tried this recipe and it came out very well! I was wondering though if this recipe could work with a fresh pineapple too? I thought about buying some pineapple juice in the cans to replace the juice that usually comes in the canned pineapples if the fresh pineapple isn't as juicy.
I actually have done it with fresh pineapple. All you have to do is cut the pineapple and add between a half to a cup of sugar mix well and let it sit in the fridge over night. The sugar will make the pineapple to seat some juice and it's just as delicious!
+Edna De la Cruz Thank you so much for the quick response! If i do it like this should I still add the full amount of sugar called for in the recipe or just leave it out. Or do you think its a personal taste?
Is very much personal taste. Remember there is some sugar in the ones you buy. The sugar is added so that the pineapple sweat. Start with just half a cup of sugar and see how it does for you. You want to make sure the pineaple gets soft just like the one in the can. So after you put the sugar let it sit and then mix it again to make sure the whole pineaple gets saturated. The size of the pineapple might make a bit of a difference too but not a major thing. Then just do the recipe just as I have it. I guess I should do a tutorial on that..lol.
+Edna De la Cruz thank you so much for your help! ill try experimenting with some fresh pineapple when i can get one. Ill still look foward to any tutorials you have in store!
My family has been making a cake with this filling for years. only difference is we crush banana and add to it. 1 banana to each can of pineapple. Yellow cake. Its called a South Sea Island Cake. Delicious!
Everyone has their own opinions on sweetness. Since this goes as a filling inside of a cake it works great but I know some people are not sugar people so it's ok to reduce if you have that preference. ;)
@@mherr9728 I honestly never had them smell bad but then again I don't typically smell it. I would say just follow the recipe. Simple syrup won't make a difference. Do all of them smell the same?
@@chachachodhery8383 well that's obvious. I use it right away on cakes and refrigerate them after. This is just how I like mine. Both are good. But I was just stating my favorite

I have used fresh pineapple too. It's just as good! But when is not in season, the can works great. I am glad you liked it!!!
My thoughts exactly.
Please tell me, how much was the equivalent of fresh pineapple in cups?
Thanks
This recipe is amazing. The best pineapple filling I have ever had. The salt cut down the sweetness of the pineapple and the vanilla, perfecto!

I have never done it so I have no idea how it would affect it, so you might have to test it.
Can I freeze this filling? Thank you for sharing this recipe. It is wonderful

Very easy!
Thanks for the video. Approximately how long do you cook it for? And what temp?
I do it on medium heat just until it thickens
Great recipe
with the pineapple filling what kind of cake goes nice with it.?. ty can't wait to try ty
Coconut. I plan to use this to try and create my grandmother's coconut cake. I just couldn't remember the filling.
Great recipe! Can you freeze it? How long will it keep in the fridge?
I personally don't like freezing cakes but if you are used to doing it, I don't see why not.

Hi I am making a cake and I want to put this filling in it but I am also using fondant, can this recipe be left out at room temp over night ?
+melany costa Yes you can leave it out overnight. I usually have AC running.
+Edna De la Cruz thanks so much I've made it before but left that cake in the fridge so I was unsure , thank u so much for this recipe it's amazing and my go to 👍👍👍😍😍😍
I only leave out when I make the cake and delivery is next day. Just make sure you have AC running!
hi Edna did you keep the water from the can? or did you drain it?
thanx for the recipe
Keep all the water. The cooking will evaporate most of it and the flavor will be left behind. Plus the cornstarch will thicken some of it
thanx x
Can you make non crusting butter cream like Swiss or Italian meringue buttercream.
For cupcakes.
yes you can!
Looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing :)

Can you add cream cheese to it? Or how would I make into a cream cheese and pineapple filling?
+Mindy M Yes you can combine it with cream cheese if you wanted it for a filling
Can i use regular vanilla extract?
have you ever used this to make empanada de queso y pina? have you ever added coconut to it and how did it come out?

Will this go well with vanilla cupcakes?
Yes it does!
Should i wait til its cold or room temperature before i add it to my cake?
Yes, let it cool down

Wow, i hope you make more cake filling for cake. I will try this ,my son love pineapple
I keep adding videos, but yes, I want to add more fillings. My last one was cookies and cream. :D
Do you drain the pineapple at all?
No, I don't drain it.
Can you use brown sugar?
It will change the flavor and I haven't tested it with it so I am not sure of the outcome.
Thanks for the recipe. I will also try this with canned peaches.

It's a traditional filling in my country. A lot of people add butter to it but I never liked it. I am sure there's many recipes around :)
Excellent
I’m wondering if adding a small amount of coconut oil or coconut milk would give it a piña colada flavor?
Coconut oil is not strong enough. I would add coconut extract.
What flavor cakes work well with this filling? it looks yummy just by itself...lol Thanks
Your basic cake, rum cake, white cake, coconut cake for starters
Gracias edna !!!!!
You welcome!
Yes it will be for me also. Pineapple wise!!
can i add less sugar?
The sugar helps the jam get thick since it doesn't use pectin. You can try but if it doesn't thicken up then it might be due to the lack of sugar.
Do I need to drain the juice from the pineapple?
No, you don't need to drain it.
