We hope you enjoy and join to be part of a bigger family here on this channel.
Thank you for being apart of our channel and lives.

I subscribed for two reasons; firstly I was researching tilapia, and secondly I simply just love your spirit and the calm way you explain mundane everyday things
Wow, thank you
I miss his Tilapia videos 😅. But he does have a beautiful place
May the Good Lord continue to watch over and bless you❤❤❤❤
James and Melinda y’all are almost same ages as my wife and I. I started watching to learn on construction of house and what trials I may face . We are looking at renewing our vows in about a year . So how well is Melinda at wedding cakes hehe . Yeah we have yall on our list of venues.
We hope to see you
, old Stevie Ray tune , "its floodin' down in Texas , " 😂 Stay safe ! But dont let getting a bit Wet stop u!😮
Double Trouble my brother was working for Stevie Ray when he passed on. His personal gear was stored at our dad's house until the estate was settled. My brother delivered the stuff to a house in Dallas once instructed by the lawyers. He shared the memory of seeing them go through his musical equipment knowing it would never be in Stevie's hands again.
As a few others suggested, you should concrete all those rocks together. I live on the coast too in Northern Cebu and we're seeing some recent erosion in front of our house. We have an 8ft or so natural rock seawall on the edge of the properly, but, we're starting to see it being eroded (cut in) and some land right on the edge is subsiding. We're building up piles of rocks now and once the weather permits, we'll pack it in and concrete it to plug it up. It's only during these king tides that the water even reaches the property edge. Usually we have some beach there, even at high tide
James, I think all you do is good. I live in America but I’m from the Caribbean. It’s good to see people doing good for others, and I see this everyday on your channel. 👍
As a expat living in central Luzon I was tempted to move and built our home along the coast! But being from the Texas Gulf coast I know the realities and maintenance expense living by the ocean. Good luck and keep safe👍🏼
Mother Nature is a powerful thing... 😱
The beaches, structures withstood really well that onslaught... 💪
Holy Cow! 👀
Congrats on the influx of new subs, well deserved... 👏
Segmenting your episodes makes sense and will result in more hours viewed, IMO...
A win for you and viewers... 👍
You appreciate us, and we appreciate you two...
Lots of 'ppreciating goin' on here! 😄
Anyway...
Work week started once again for me and the SMART team...
Onboarding new QuickBook and VA clients...
Filipina power, baby!
Plus...
Day 1 of 3 fasting underway...Lost 12 kilo so far and feeling wonderful (don't ask me on day 3, lol!)...
Plus...
I just finished a sauna (30 minutes in the garden, haha). 😂
Whoo-ah, as we used to say in the Army chapters of my life...
Okay, gotta wind this up...
You two have a super and safe week!
Let's Roll!
🤜🤛
🙏🙏🙏
👍😎👍
Those Gabions look like they are doing their job protecting from erosion. It is a great educational image on how in areas where you don't have the Gabion it's being eroded away. Stay Safe we are saying prayers for you, Melinda her family and everyone else being affected with this storm. Take Care and God Bless.
Those Gabion cages did their job. 👍
I would recommend keeping up with solar weather. We are in solar cycle 25 and the sun has been popping off like crazy.
Hi James as the saying goes, whats for you will not go past you. You are very fortunate to be able to have the resources to prepare for what the tempest throws at you and your immeadiate neighbours. All the very best to you both for the future.
Good job, James! it's working just like you had explained it would to me during my stay there....
I wish I was there to witness the storm...
I can only imagine the damage that could have occurred if nothing was done on your beach.....
Can't wait to return ...
Your place is on top of our list to stay!!!
Thanks again for sharing all your guys' hard work 😊
❤❤❤❤
Love to see you again.
I am glad everyone is doing well.
Kind of weird that poor people try to move away from the shore while rich people try to move as close to the shore as possible.
The rich can afford to build infrastructure to semi tame it while the poor cannot. Thus the rich can afford to enjoy it's beauty without the stress the poor have of losing everything. Sometimes mother nature wins and puts them all rich or poor in their place and the rich lose it all and the poor just go on like another normal day.
In America, the Poor people go to the most beautiful waterfront areas , while the Rich people try to build around them but mostly live in places where it's ugly and smelly once they leave their properties.
@@sudilos1172 poor people live along the shores and rich folks move uphill or in the mountains overlooking the poor people with their shanties and temporary tents.
@@TexasFilipinothere is no such thing as mother nature. The Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy tell us Satan is responsible for these calamities. All of them are from Satan, as God removes his protection from the earth.
Even now he is at work. In accidents and calamities by sea and by land, in great conflagrations, in fierce tornadoes and terrific hailstorms, in tempests, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and famine and distress follow. He imparts to the air a deadly taint, and thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitations are to become more and more frequent and disastrous. Destruction will be upon both man and beast. {GC 589.3}
long time sub in a similar life situation. this video made me tear up a little bit. Both of you shared a side of spirituality within yourselves that was heartwarming. not as a couple but as "good" individuals. Salmat Po for sharing.
Thank you for thanking us.
Glad you can perceiver in good times and bad. Like you said, you make it work no matter what the obstacles. God bless.
Prayers continue 🙏
Keep being Honest & Sharing Life ❤
Nothing like the beautiful calm weather right after a big storm. God cleaned up nature and given life a fresh breath in the aftermath👍. You all stay safe way over yonder ! God bless you all.
What you and Melinda have is the same thing me and my Filipino have we trust each other 100% and we have very good communication skills between both of us. Without trust and communication there is no relationship. Little things will always work themselves out. That’s what communication is about, not complicated even though there’s a lot of people there try to make it complicated
Great video.
Getting my passport paperwork started this week. Fingers crossed.
Being brought up on the Mississippi gulf coast. I know the struggle brother, forever fighting mother nature. Sometimes you get the best , and sometimes........ ! Like you said James all we can do is build back a little better each time ,until we concur or perish 😁👍🙏❤️ !!!
, all future coastal housing , mandatory 7' or more PASS-thru structure , up on stilts ! like Kiawah island homes,
James, Cathie and I have a large age gap , and we continue to grow closer everyday, and the communication just keeps getting better and better. We haven't been together as long as you and Mel ,but we are working on it 😁👍 !
Good stuff

I watch your videos because you guys help me to understand my Owen children in your age category. As you think in the same realm as meand I do see my kids in you and it is a refreshing way for me to gain understanding. THANK YOU both for this Channel
Nothing is permanent. After the storm, you may have more drift woods to collect for your new project! Good luck!
Great video
Always enjoy the vid quality and the range of subjects. A couple questions. Can you get Quickrete there in the waterproof variety? If so, that would sure make it easy to fill those rock cages in. Pour on dry bags, maybe even in a mild rain and let nature do the work. 2nd, could you lay those cages in a diagonal pattern or maybe in x pattern so that it would dissipate wave energy. Smaller and concreted in, but with a pattern. Maybe terrace rows of 3 diagonal with a. 4th larg as a back to sea funnel. Your there and watching the flows. Maybe you could create somthing a design and even go down beach a little to help family and neighbors. Sand trap maybe?
no quick crete here
My wife and i are from 2 age groups also. But we are so happy together 27 year age gap 16 years married known her for over 17 years.
The ocean gives us so much, but it always takes back. I pray this ends up not to bad.
I live by the beach cove and we have coconuts and garbage on the beach every time. I dont know where it all comes from
Best channel on You Tube ❤!
Good thing you installed the gabions! Now if the rest of the families on the beach would do the same.... 🤔
It was heartbreaking to watch what those 2 storms, and the Habagat brought to Luzon 😢
What is amazing, though, is the resilience of the people to put their lives back together, after the floods! ❤️ We have many family and friends who were affected, in Metro Manila, and a week after, you would hardly know what they had gone through, the week before!
You and Mel have a good, safe trip back to Tejas, James 🇵🇭✈️🇺🇸🙏
tough people
God bless to you too James!
Just pour some dry post concrete over the top of those rock peninsulas and then sprinkle soak them with water. No mixing and the dry cement gets way down in the crevices. If you want a smooth finish, use top coat over the dry fill.
glad to know you are reaching a larger group of people...
We flew in last year during typhoon season august , never again ,and yes we got hit scared the heck out of me , the plane almost crashed in taiwan. So next year im coming in june. Our beach house lost all its sand 6 years ago, and it hasnt come back, Changes fast there.
Love to see Mels plants
Thank u sir
Yes patients you must have been with my wife Living back and forth usa and manila so I know the patient thing
Good luck, I hope the best for everyone close to you guys also
Thanks for sharing ur life with us many blessings from North Texas ❤
Awesome video.. Thanks...
Much love cuz, keep on keeping on.
Gabions made a big diff. I remember that storm before that work was done and all that water right up near the trees near yr house. Good plan man and stick it up the nay sayers who complained about yr work on the beach. Who’s smilin’ now ?
Mother Nature will always win.
Congrats on all the new subscribers James. You deserve it.
Thank you so much 😀
Welcome to the Philippines. Its paradise beautiful weather..
I have been here 20 years
I understand when a glass is filled to half. And someone has to say, "The glass is half empty, the glass is half full". I see it different. When it's half full or half empty, You have room to add more. Just fill it up.
You never take a long trip when the gas tank is half. You fill it up.
That my take.
WOWWWW
Hey y’all glad you and yours are safe. Welcome to the new subs I hope everyone has a great day.
pag inilonga nalang
Been watchn since the time you showed up to your garage from Texas .Missed the foundation work but since then Ive watched . Dont say a lot of comments but this video showed the worse of beach living and the happy results afterwards. Safe travels to Texas and back home. Oh Ya dont eat BBQ Pork on flight back to states ! EVA Air to LAX LOL
Be safe. 🙏
Hello James! Regarding those rock cages, I know you mentioned plastering over the rocks in those cages and I wondered if there's some wire fencing that is resistant to salt water? I live here in San Diego, not far from the water and that salt water and mist causes everything, and I mean everything metal to eventually rust out. Looking at the wire, I see that even though these cages are not that old, the storms you get along with the salt corrosion will cause them to deteriorate in a few short years. Have you given any thought to longer term solutions?
Lastly, if they remain wire cages, I know the benefit of them is that they can be temporary and if you needed to remove and re-make a cage, it's much easier to work with than a solid wall which can't really be reused. As always, you do great work!
Sir,its your Chanel...you are a Texas boy,I know you do what you want..go for it..👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽🇺🇸
I shared your TH-cam channel to the one leave at ILOILO ALSO
If I was living where you were living then I would not build 100% on land. Living on water is something that certain people do, and while living very close to a lot of water then this is a possibility that can develop.
Whatever you choose to build on land could get flooded, or destroyed, so if you did not build entirely on land then I do not think everything you have would get wet, and possibly damaged.
Our place is not flooded no destroyed. Melinda was dramatic. We grew all of that landed out. Sometimes there is a little give n take. Living beach side does have huge risk and not all can afford to risk it or have no choice. I love living there and it's all worth the risk to me
glad to see you and your neighbours didn't get too wiped out, man that looked intense.
Hi trevor and Mae❤❤❤❤
@@thetexasfilipina1609 hoping to get back this winter we will most likely try to visit again we also want to check out the Canadian beaver Bar on your island.
@@THENEWWRANGLER very pleasure for having u guys here again....we enjoyed so much ur company..yes we looking forward for our next adventure.more mountain to hike with the thunderstorm🤣🤣🤣
I enjoy your content and value ya'll for what you have been through. I have my next trip booked for Thanksgiving into December. Working on visas to bring my wife and son to Wills Point. Looking for places to go for our time on vacation there before returning home.
James Thanks for sharing your story with us. A lot of what you are showing in your daily life is the life style my Filipina girlfriend and I are working towards our goal in where we want to be in our life. We hope too maybe next year to make it out your way to check out the vast improvements from the property and your growth as human being in the right direction. Thank you to you and Melinda for the great Content.
thanks James, I enjoy all your content,
Nice James!
It sucks losing a brother as I just had to go through that of getting a phone call from y mother at 10:30pm here in California and she's calling from Maryland so I knew something bad happened. My brother was 61 and he passed away on July 9th so it's a difficult time for our family. I don't let the little things on your channel get to me James as there are more things to worry about. Also I still do my best to be kind to others regardless what I'm going through. If there's anything that might bother me I just keep it to myself instead of commenting on here. I just prefer keeping things civil by doing my best to be kind and respectful.
Suggestion: Setup a tour package for new visitors and charge for the service.
Wait till the big one hits!
Oh shit !! Gotta luv ya some Mell...
LOL
Me to
That would be a good idea to poor concrete on those cages before that mesh rusts through .
Thats our next plan...❤❤
I sure hope they have those boats anchored to something strong!
“It’s gonna break it, let me get it moved here” @ 6:38, lol, nope, the waves make it look light, it’s not. I was a specialist in flood, rising water damage. Water and the debris it carries will create terrible damage. Excellent work creating your barriers so far, without them mother nature wins. Gabion walls, like you’ve built, big rocks wrapped in chicken wire work best for the money the rocks say in place to break the waves.
Don't know when this was recorded but are you all still going back to Texas? ❤️
Just say safe James & Mel, property can be rebuilt. Big storm.
Looks like it’s time to rebuild your gabions a little bit looks like it’s time to build one in front of the bike Kubo or maybe some type of small restraining wall in front of it something
Vareity is the spice of life.
Hope everyone is ok
In what part of the Philippines are you located? I see the black volcanic sand in the beach. I will pray for you. Remember God watches over his faithful children. So, if you’re not keeping God’s commandments now is a good time to start. God hears the prayers of the faithful but, the sinner he does not hear. Amen!
A floating bahay kubo so it can rise with the sea water comes up during a storm.
My wife and I are 12 years apart
Iam 62 with a 16 year old daughter
We're ok
Great video, Homie!
Hey that’s beach life there. You knew that long before you built. It’s not unexpected as you’ve said time and time again.
Some people don’t want that life on the edge of the sea, others do. It’s all about choice.
Me I’ll visit the beach and enjoy it. But every place has its issues. Mudslides, flooding…. Whatever.
Absolutely sir!!i lived there my whole life..i seen enough how worse the damage ...
@@thetexasfilipina1609 exactly old son

Holy shit!!!!!!????
She blurted it out there
Keep safe my friend

I wonder if you plant mangroves around the area will help or ease out the erosion/destruction of your property by the beach area?
The sea is rising ever so slightly thus the tidal surge is powerful
35.9K subs now😊🎉❤🎉 1750views😊🎉❤🎉
thats the dis advantages pf building a hpuse near the sea even itsolid still wash out that
Our house did not wash out. It is hundreds of feet away. This is just a cheap bamboo old hut. Wife was being dramatic as usual. LOL
James buried an old tire 🛞 make a wall in your bahay kubo to protect from seawater storm surge.

Hello James, thank you for another great life video.
My Filipina wife of 16 years and I are getting all our US stuff taken care of so we can make our move to northern Leyte in October.
I did have a question, Is Mel a dual citizen or a green card holder? My wife is a green card holder and is worried about its status if we stay out of the US for more than 6 months.
Any advice or thoughts on this would by appreciated. Coming from north Louisiana, casino country.
She can stay in her country for one year ( use to be 6 months) She can get an visa waiver that will get her 2 year sbut it must be done before she leaves the states. Now she can exit to a another country. She just cannot stay in her home country for a year or more.
@@TexasFilipino thank you for taking time to answer. That will put her mind at ease.
After we get moved over and settled in, we are going to do some travels and plan on a couple day stay at your resort.

Hey James , are you still doing carnivore?
Unfortunately that's only mild consequences as typhoons go. Stay safe and distant from the shore, as there's probably worse to come.
Lord I hope all the kids don’t come out to play in it! It’s way too dangerous.
Thank u for ur concern!pretty sure the parents are aware on that
Nature does what it does. Fortunately, humans have no influence over it.
He has the money it's no concern to him but mother nature will always win specially if you choose to live by the coast
Glad you guys had no permanent damage. God bless and stay safe.
