The great part of having only one stud on the Sebenza is it's very easy to press out and put ti connector studs in its place. And you could always press it back in if you need to send it in for warranty reasons. Nice guy machine and rips garage tech have great clips and mxg sells lanyard plugs that dont rattle around.
Where did you get your thumbstuds from? I’m very interested.
Stassa said he has punched a few out on CRK. Didn't sound like a big challenge
You can definitely send it in for double lugs, and they can change the blue hardware to all silver as well if that's more your jam. CRK is great to work with. Takes a little to get it back from them, but well worth having studs on both sides. I've done that with both of mine. Great pick up for the collection!
I just wish the thumbstuds were bigger.
I sent my last one back for double lugs (small glass blast/black micarta insingo) . I live in Australia so had DLT send the knife directly to them so I didn’t have to pay for that part of the shipping costs, then CRK added the double lugs, put a couple of lanyard beads in the package (at extra cost of course, but not much), and had the knife on it’s way back to me in Australia within 3 or 4 days of them having received it. I was pretty impressed with their communication and the service itself. Next I’m planning on asking if they would swap out the drop point blade on my small Elforyn Super Tusk inlay one for a tanto with double silver lugs. If so, I think I’ll call it the “ice tusk tanto”. Anyway, I’m very impressed with CRK so far. I just wish shipping and taxes didn’t add so much to the cost being down here.
I just got the large 31 and won’t be wasting money on another. CRK is behind the times.
Nothing goes back together so perfectly every single time after maintenance. Cannot beat a CRK’s attention to tolerances. Quite a few other makers really need to catch up.
I hear you. They excel in these parts.
The Inkosi is the best knife for me. I always had trouble with Sebenza. That bushing does nothing for me. My Inkosi is smoother and stronger.
Love to see some unique graphics or wood inlays on the Inkosi in the future. There should be no need to adjust the pivot. But I see you do it in the last minutes? I had to tighten the pivot all the way to have no blade play. Sebenza's and pm2 are the only knives in my collection that have blade play
I have no blade play on any of my Spydercos (12) or CRK (2). I tune and polish my PB washers and locktite the pivots to where there is no blade play and enjoy drop shut action. My Large Sebenza has achieved that perfect action like My Umnumzaan. We all like different action, so tune your knife like you like your knife.
It's your knife so you do you but you really think what you're doing improves the Precision and what's done at the Chris Reed Factory
It gives it the action I want the thumbstuds to have along with 1000’s of other people who are not fans of the their goofy single thumbstud. LOL. I know some love them, so they can keep it. I make every PB washer knife drop shutty, as they can have without blade play.
So if you are asking me if I believe this to be true for me for my knife… then 100% yes. In fact, I’m offered to be paid to tune many knives for folks to get this action that I prefer.
So, that’s the joy of owning the knife… I get to do with it what I want, as do you.
Just a gorgeous knife you can truly depend on 🤟 I hope to get a large Sebenza in the future.
You will. I was on the hunt for the one I wanted.
Great video Rob and by the way, if you just put a little drop of lube on the end of the lanyard tube, I’ll stop it from rattling.
Thank you. I thought of that but also considered a backstop to see if it fits like the Umnumzaan.
Congratulations Rob‼️
Still loving it more and more.
Nice! 👍
Thank you!!
One thing I love about crk is the rest of disassembly and reassembly. The fact also that he WANTS customers to maintain their knives themselves but still offers spa treatments. The fact that they almost always go back together without a hitch, you crank the pivot screw down and it’s ready to rock. Nowhere near as much tuning the pivot as with my other knives in this range. I have to tighten the pivot on my xm every day after it’s been carried, but I refuse to Loctite it given how it’s open in the back side of the pivot.
It’s your knife. Do what you want but Locktite does work on the Hinderer pivot… but only the pivot.
@@Robs_Nerdy_Knives true. I’m picky on what I’ll use it on. But this one could use it
@Sleepy_spartan717 and I recommend just enough to cover the threads and no extra dripping off. Be sure to let it sit overnight without flicking it, so the locktite can dry and hold the pivot. Also, make sure there is no knife oil inside pivot barrel or on the threads of the pivot screw. These were my biggest mistakes when the locktite failed.
@@Robs_Nerdy_Knives in going to get the Loctite stick here soon. The liquid is a pain to work with at times I feel.
@Sleepy_spartan717 it has been perfect with Nano-Oil 85-weight as it was on my Umnumzaan. 85-weight is a very thick and viscous oil. 👍
Thats the best edc knife, but i bet is not your tipe of knife.
I love it. I’m tuning it to be a fidety and snappy knife. I will get 2 thumbstuds installed. I waited to get this until I could acquire one with carbon fiber.
That was a relaxing video.
That is the first knife I’ve seen with perforated washers. Do you know the rationale for the perforations?
Spyderco has done that bushing systems on some of their knives, like the CQI Kapara, and it results in an extremely dropshut action.
Regarding the lanyard post, I think you can put another regular spacer in that hole, parts are supposedly available from CRK (this is information I’ve heard from other channels and might be misremembering some details).
Lanyards are for the weirdos 👍
Post a picture of your new puppy(?)
Thanks for the video, Rob!
Thank you. Yeah, both my Umnumzaan had and this Sebenza have those washers. I think it is retain the heavy lubricant paste and now my Nano-Oil 85-weight, so it can distribute evenly. Also, it gives wide and more stable contact between the blade and knife without full contact to lower the resistance. I guess a bit like caged bearing without the ceramic balls. That is my best theory on the physics based on resistance, stability, and ensuring even lubrication.
I just purchased two Sabenzas from Knife Center. Both had two studs.
In carbon fiber? BladeHQ’s exclusive in carbon fiber only has 1 blue thumbstud.
These are great knives. It’s a refined tool…cutting instrument….not a fidget toy.
For you… for me, it’s 100% a fidget toy. I tuned my Umnumzaan and now my Large Sebenza to be a fidgety & flicking fun knife with drop shut action. I almost have it perfect where I can top flip it. I punched out the CRK thumbstud for a set I wanted so much more. It’s a great carry and fidget fun knife like my Koenig, 2 Holt Bladeworks, Oz Rosie, 2 Custom Trevor Burgers, Olamic Custom, Rob Johnsons Cedar, 4 Hinderers, 2 McNees, 4 TRMS, 12 pimped out Spydercos, and more. Love fidgeting with each one. That is how I enjoy my knives. It may not be how you do, but that is up to you to do as you please with your knives. Peace! ✌️
Excellent video. Thanks Rob
🤜💥🤛
That's a beauty!!
Love a Sebenza.. The Pinnacle in Knife Production.. Thx for sharing!!
Thank you for watching!
interesting to see
