  • The Brule River in Northern Wisconsin is a very unique fishery and hosts some of the toughest steelhead to catch in the country. There really only a handful of presentations you need in your arsenal, however, and once you learn to present these lures in front of fish correctly, you will have no trouble hooking into some great fish on the Brule River!

      I personally drift it with a split shot. You can also fish it under a float.

      Early season when it’s cold I use 10lb mono. I often switch to 15lb braid later on.

    When does the fall run usually start?

      Typically browns start first, followed by a few kings, both in August.

    Hey Caleb, of course it depends on water level but on average, how long of a fluoro leader are you typically going with?

    • @calebwistad
      @calebwistad  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Typically around 3’-5’

    Is the southern half of the open section (hwy 13 to the 2 bridge), or the northern half (13 to superior) better this time of year (as early spring)? Heading out tomorrow and not sure which landing to start at. Hoping to catch my first steelhead!

      It really depends on how high and muddy the water is and how you like to fish. If the water is way up, I’d prefer to fish closer to 2. If it’s low and clear you will see more color down towards the lower stretches and that can help you out. I also prefer faster, rockier water so I tend to fish more up towards 2 myself but if you like float fishing deep holes and slower water, the lower section has more of that.

    What rod length and power do you use? Spinning rod fishing seems to work best for me but i feel like mine is a hair short.

      I use a 9’ medium light steelhead rod. I believe there is a link in some of my other steelhead videos on TH-cam.
