    Really great video. I gotta get to the brule this summer. My father and I have wanted to get on there for years after reading the old duck hunters books by Gordon MacQuarrie. If u get a chance to read the books u would love them. All real story's about hunting and fishing in northern Wisconsin. Would u ever do like a guided trip to the brule river. Or at least get me some. Directions to a good spot where I can get my 70year old dad on some nice fish. Keep up the great videos

    Just as with the Springtime video, I'm curious to know what you're running for your mainline especially in those 30 degree temps. I like the mono in the cold but getting more braided line on the spool is definitely a perk.

    • @calebwistad
      @calebwistad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m still using that Sunline Float II (mono) that’s in the description. It’s been a very solid line for me even in the cold.

      Yes, absolutely. Springtime is definitely all about eggs. Yarn flies, spawn sacks, beads etc are the way to go. Insect imitations can also work, nymphs like stoneflies and prince nymphs can be good if you are a fly guy. Here is a link to my spring steelhead video for a lot more tips: th-cam.com/video/XLbEO2k0OK0/w-d-xo.html

    How is early august on the brule?

    • @calebwistad
      @calebwistad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know, I’ve never fished it early although I know there is a small run of kings and browns in august. . I’ve always gone in September and October. Late October/early November is actually my favorite.

    • @calebwistad

    • @calebwistad

      Yes. I’ve caught many more steelhead drifting spawn sacs than fishing them under a float, but that’s just how I like to fish too. Both methods work.

    It looks like you've got bigger water here than around brule where I've been fishing. Where should I go south or north? I won't even ask your honey holes but a little guidance for some bigger water rather then wood fallen tight areas would be great!?

    • @calebwistad
      @calebwistad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are very few large rivers that hold trout. Even fewer that are tributaries that hold steelhead. There are a few decent ones on the north shore of Lake Superior in MN though and a few in the UP of Michigan.

    • @calebwistad

      The Brule has been one of the most famous streams in the country since long before I was born. Countless celebrities have fished it, and many tv shows have been filmed there over the years. I realize that more people have been fishing it the past few years and that may be frustrating to you, but to blame that on exposure when the Brule has never been a secret is a bit of a stretch.
